Because once in Bang Saray, or in Chang Mai,  people are forced to go to these dreadful markets,  they have to go somewhere. No one wakes up on a freezing morning  in Sweden in December, and thinks "Oi, I'm gonna buy a ticket to Bang Saray and visit the market there!".

But many, many more people visit Pattaya, and it isn't because our markets. Pattaya is 'extreme' city, because of its unique attractions, and it draws millions. Take that away, and Pattaya will become Bang Saray, a place no one has heard of

I think you guys are trying to say; "It's Horses for Courses"

I wouldn't be going to HomePro to buy my Sunday dinner.... Get my drift.

  2. Hey guys, there's no point arguing over who twisted words and its irrelevant about who’s telling lies right now.

The fact of the matter is Laura W, is attacking the Thai Police and the Thai Authorities. Let's make it clear, she is NOT attacking the B2 who have been convicted of the rape and murder of her sister. Her statements are very brave and bold. Considering the RTP have supposedly got the right culprits, I wonder why these statements are being made now. Is there new information about to be revealed..?

  3. Quite a contrast to the OTT gushing by the Miller family.

As I posted on another thread, it is hard to understand how the two families could come to such different conclusions. I posted a while ago that I had met someone who works with Hannah's cousin and she told me the family never believed what they had been told by the RTP. This certainly confirms that. Now we hear they had been offered money and been threatened. Could this explain the Miller's response? The fact the Miller's statement was prepared before the verdict and parroted the prosecution's claims suggests something very dark has been going on.

Hopefully this is a long way from over and eventually we will all see the light.

I think the Millers gave much credence to the phone evidence.

The RTP gave the Millers phone identification information (that may or may not have come from the phone possessed at one point by Wai Phyo) and confirmed for themselves that this number matched. Of course, if the RTP had David's phone in their possession, that would be the number they would provide. Assuming, however, that the phone Wai Phyo had in his possession was David's (admittedly likely) there are various ways it may have come into his possession that he is unwilling to reveal. It is possible to overstate the importance of the phone evidence. Further, Zaw Lin is not implicated in any way with this particular evidence.

Most of the rest of the evidence is based on the RTP's word. The fact that very frightened Burmese took many days to withdraw their confessions, that I am quite sure were extracted under duress, is no real surprise. They fully expected to be killed if they withdrew their confessions.

The verdict was not based on the RTP's word. It was based on the DNA evidence!!

Very informative and interesting reading. As the saying goes, We all learn something new every day..!

  4. “He didn’t look like someone who had been in the water for hours — there was still dried blood on his face.”

I know this is about Nick Pearson but.........

    no wonder the speculation

We don't need speculation in any matter, each should be treated as an separate case, not running into or off another incident. The only common denominator is Koh Tao Island, so please let's stick with the subject at hand.

At what stage do you consider that the prevalence of tourist deaths on this tiny island should become an issue? 5? Check, 10? check. 100?

For my part, I share others concerns about this merry go round KT seems to be on. When my young relatives visit I warn them off the island as a matter of course. Samui and KPG, though not perfect examples of safety do not seem to suffer from the same high incidence of biting the hand that feeds them.

What are you on about. Any death is of concern but I am getting sick and tired of people speculating and putting up unrealistic scenarios and turning assumptions and innuendos into fact. So before you jump out of your tree, understand what I have written. if you have difficulty in doing so, then maybe you shouldn't comment.

Well good for you, warning people off, if that is you belief then do it, I don't think we need to know about it. Do you think this little bullish action on your behalf will have any bearing on the numbers who attend there, I doubt it.

Speculation is one thing, but there are a lot of coincidences involved here. Whilst I accept your defence of the case until facts are produced, you appear to be a staunch defender of KT. If that is true, shouldn't KT defenders be more interested in preventing this type of tragedy happening again?

Shouldn't there be more time given to safety on the island. Shouldn't there be more attention given to having all CCTV working. As no Thai would ever be involved in such cases, it would at least give everyone a clue to what those pesky Burmese get up to at night..!!!

  5. Who is doing anything to try and find the murderers?

RTP? No. They refuse to even consider or mention the most likely culprits.

Prosecution? No. They can only do what RTP tell them to do.

Headman and his friends/family on the island? No.

Defense? No. Their job is to defend the defendants.

Court? No. Their job is only to listen to prosecution and defense arguments.

British experts? No. They haven't released findings on David's autopsy and haven't interviewed Sean, as far as we know.

Who is left to try and find the criminals? Only us concerned folks on social media, and much of what we're sifting through are lies and skewed data. It's sad when citizens can't rely upon the people who are paid to protect them - to do their jobs.

Take a look at my earlier post; #150

Whatever the outcome, I wonder if the Department of Special Investigations (which incidentally is a department within the Ministry of Justice, the place where Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunand is employed and does have some evidence) will reinvestigate the case. What an interesting scenario that would be.

    Take a look at the link to who the DSI are;

  6. Whilst we continue to argue amongst ourselves on who is right and who is wrong, there is still a deafening silence coming from Koh Tao. There must be many who surely know the facts about this case. People do talk and I wonder how long will it be until someone breaks that silence and the floodgates open, it's only a matter of time. Let's not forget that the two Burmese lads are about to give evidence, could that be the start ?

  7. The court in Koh Samui heard that the senior investigating police chief and his officers did not believe the killer would have taken that boat, which left an hour or so after the estimated time of death of the pair.

"We have the footage, but we never checked it," Police Colonel Cherdpong said.

Interesting that the officer was quoted as saying "the killer" (Singular) and "did not believe the killer would have taken that boat". Does this boil down to, he knows the killer took another boat.? Or is this just another piece of reporting lost in translation.?

There is no singular or plural in Thai, so I would imagine that would be why

So why would he refer to his "Officers" (plural) beforehand..?

  9. If you ignore the idea that there are strings being pulled from high above and return to basics - manipulating the crime scene.

There are some posters who seem to find this completely implausible, yet the world is awash with cases of planted evidence, mixed up DNA samples and various other unethical practices - google it. It is also noted that it is not difficult to do this. (Coffee cups and cigarette butts are a go to example in many articles, for crude evidence planting, incidentally).

Once more, let it be noted that it was the local cops, that started at the crime scene, plus other locals were tramping across it and, there was no forensic pathologist at the scene collecting the samples, as per protocol.

SO forget all the theories and stories, but what is so hard to understand about this??? I don't want you to say, "Ah ok, now i see, I change my stance",

but a SIMPLE ADMISSION that the manipulation of the crime scene is not so unbelievable or difficult to achieve, especially when the correct personnel were not even there to oversee it. Chain of custody as Thailandchili mentioned earlier.

Again, just a simple acknowledgement that the crime scene could easily have been tampered with and evidence could have been planted, as has happened in other instances, in the US for example. You don't need to change your stance.

Your concern would be more concerning if the two were already suspects when the evidence was gathered at the crime scene but they were not. So it is very implausible to think their semen was planted inside the victim along with other DNA collected from the scene only to have police make fools of themselves for weeks accusing others and making idiotic assumptions prior to catching one of this group leaving the island and questioning them.

If the motive was to not make them (police) look bad or to have Thailand look bad or tourism to the island be hurt then this would make no sense as the results were just the opposite and very controllable by police who could have pinned this on anyone early on if that was their goal or could have arrested these two immediately after if they were framing them from the get go.

The evidence (DNA) collected at the crime scene would have been run and reports shared with dozens of people on various computers and in various reports. The only way without them planting these two DNA at the scene initially to accomplish a frame up would be to get rid of all these original reports and eliminate all those with access (including all the techs at the labs) from being able to speak out.

Is there some other plausible theory that would get their semen inside the victim? A mismanaged crime scene or improper collection or contamination would not cause their semen to be found in the victim. Only thing I can think of is the police have lied and the prosecutors and labs are part of the lie in stating the it was their DNA / Semen that matched ... again another fairly vast conspiracy would need to take place.

Good Post John. As usual it make good logical sense, so probably why it will be attacked here.

I looked into the possibility of the conspiracy theory and having 2 scapegoats that many say took there place. But the one thing that stands out above the rest is "Why Bother?".

I mean that if there was even a shed of truth to this why bother to plant evidence, involving several people committing a criminal act to frame 2 poor migrant Workers? I mean a guy like Al Capone...maybe. But 2 Migrants Works who they could have accused the second day after the murders but it took 2 weeks to solve.

They could have swept this under the rug ages ago, if that is what they wanted. Say that they are sorry that they don't have a DNA Match so the culprits must have left the Island already. Case Closed! Just another Unsolved Murder Case which are many all over the world, and by now nobody would even be talking about it.

No! This does not make any logical sense to frame anyone here. It is far more Logical to bury this then frame 2 innocent men which many here have said they have done. Why I now will also get attacked to because it makes Good Logical Sense. ,

This Thai gentleman is pretty well known and has certainly put his "Wedding Tackle" on the line with the following statement. A statement, that I can only assume he knows will not bring a legal case of "Slander", because it would really open a "Can of Worms".

  10. I have been following this case since the beginning and I'm aware of probably 99% of what's been said. That is to say I understand the factual, nonfactual and the theory/conspiracy options that have been offered and posted here. I will not give my bias one way or the other, but I would like to put this thought out to you followers.

I would assume that many of you have seen the terrible, obscene pictures of the poor female victims body. Her face had been smashed and almost mutilated beyond virtual recognition. It would appear that the murderer/murderers that carried out this heinous crime had a serious grudge against this defenceless young woman. A murder that was carried out with complete hatred. Right or wrong, I have a feeling that this is a statement, a statement from a person or persons who have been humiliated or who have lost face relating to one or more incidents with the victim. There will be some of you who will not understand what I am saying, but for those of you who have spent a reasonable amount of time in Thailand or understand Thai culture, you will understand immediately. That said, there must be evidence out there of some altercations or controversy that happened in the hours or days leading up to the murders. An incident that would provoke such violent reaction.

    Just a thought..!!!
