I don’t really understand her thought process but that might be because I don’t drink enough. I don’t see the problem being A. Her problem lies with Pong. And it’s admittedly a repeated problem.

Here was my situation from my post a couple of weeks ago. I’ve yet to find a suitable solution but I’m happy to see others have generally had good success.
Hi, I just wanted to post incase other have this problem. I’m new to Wise (transfer) only setting my account up last Thursday. My home base is Canada - TD Bank, and my banking here in Thailand is Bangkok Bank.
Following the online screens on the Wise app, I set up my first Canadian to Baht transfer/exchange using the INTERAC eTransfer method. Wise indicates the process to initially take a few minutes with the final exchange/deposit taking a few hours.
Proceeding with the transfer, Wise sent me an email with the INTERAC eTransfer link. Already populated with the information. Account numbers, amount etc.
Clicking the link gave me an host of Canadian bank options, I chose mine, logged in and initiated the transfer. Sure enough the money was instantly removed from my account. So far, so good.
The problem being the next steps never happened. The first time I contact Wise, the “auto helper” told me it can take up to 2 days - but I still filled out the missing money form and attach 8 screen shots of my transaction process. Then I wait. Two days later, the “auto helper” tells me - not on weekends. So I wait. On Monday evening after still no response to my concern message, I send another message to Wise, this time their Customer Service.
Wednesday morning is the first response I get from an individual at Wise - After the original Thursday evening Transfer attempt. They respond with (paraphrasing) we don’t have your money, check with your bank and Interact. We suggest NOT using INTERAC eTransfer in the future.
Wow, so I phone TD Bank (thanks to the FonGo app) and I’m told that Wise is having trouble receiving the transfer, perhaps I could contact them and have them check with their security dept. Huh, that seems a stretch for me. The other option was TD Bank could put in a request to retrieve my funds. I went ahead with that and minutes later the Canadian funds were back in my TD Bank.
So that’s, that. I’m not necessarily complaining but just wanted to point out my experience.

Issues with Wise like that are based on the fact that WISE is not registered as a bank:).
Money wont get lost but you have to be concerned about WISE as a customer in general in terms of getting the right person on the phone:). You cant visit them too????
Money is also not secured with any umbrella funds by WISE. Dont park money just use it as a transfer machine:).
WISE is by more and more banks not accepted as a transfer contact. At least they stop transfers and asks questions.
Just bear in mind that some people use WISE as a support possibility for not so “legal money”.
Use it for money transfers only and check it with 10 USD for a first time transfer if accepted is my recommendation for all readers. Mostly its working!
Thank you for that. Yes, my purpose was only to move, transfer, exchange the funds then deposit into my Bangkok bank account. From the information they supplied that was going to be done by the next day.

If new to Wise you should initially send a small test amount so you can be sure the process works correctly before switching to a larger amount
Yes, I agree. I have read that and was proceeding with caution.
Originally, I thought of transferring $1000. The fees, etc. would cost about $13. When I bumped it to $2000, the fees went to just over $17 so that’s why I chose that amount. As for the exchange rate on Thursday, it was pretty good. Today it’s up over 27.xx
I think what annoyed me the most was when I finally got a hold of somebody at Wise, they told me not to use INTERAC. Then suggested another transfer form because they’ve had trouble with INTERAC in the past.

I've been using Wise for over 2 years, and I'm very happy with it
are you transferring Candian Dollars to your Bangkok Bank, which will convert to THB???
i normally send home currency (USD) to wise and it stays in home currency (USD), once I'm ready to convert i then do the conversation inside WISE.
so i will have 2 different currencies inside of WISE
once conversion is done
i then make another transaction to send the converted THB to my Bangkok bank
it may sound ;like I'm making too many steps, and paying twice but I'm happy doing it that way.
so my method could take 5 days depending on what day I start this (2 step) process ?
and perhaps my method is of no use to you and your question
Hi there,
So the plan was they were going to take my Canadian funds and convert them into Thai baht before depositing them into my Thai baht account at Bangkok Bank. It was all laid out and seemed simple (see attached). Originally they had listed 6 different options and I chose the INTERAC option. I do have a Canadian currency account also with Bangkok Bank but I use that when I’m in Canada and transfer funds here. Just for the future though I want to be able to transfer money while I’m still here in Thailand. After signing up and initiating the transfer, it did seem like a simple method - but that’s when things went sideways.

Thanks,

Do you run a VPN on your phone? I find that’s the only thing that reduces my speed. I’m also with AIS mobile. Otherwise, it’s always faster than advertised. That has always surprised me, because in Canada, they use the excuse that there’s a difference between theoretical and obtainable. Of course they charge you the theoretical price - which in any world is never obtainable.

I have a follow up Wise transfer question.
Does Wise automatically convert the foreign currency into Thai baht when transferring it into your account? I’ve always used my Cdn bank to bank method while maintaining a Canadian dollar account (Bangkok bank) here. Then, when the exchange rate seems good, I will do some exchange at that time.
thanks,Wayne.

800k 2 months prior maintained for 3 months after extention granted and must be not less than 400k at other times
The requirements are carefully checked by immigration when you apply for subsequent extension.
Some folk opt to maintain 800k year round to avoid any slip ups.
Immigration are strict on it in most cases.
DrJack54, i’m not sure how much clearer you can be. You’ve tried your best. It seems most people that are confused are thinking short term. When you’re clearly saying it’s the next time you get your extension. They look back. They’re not hunting you down after three months. Thanks always for you contribution to these topics.

There will be no need to do a TM30 report since she will not be doing anything at immigration.
UbonJoe I have a question to add. Regardless if she was to stay at a hotel the first few nights or going straight to the families home, is it not the responsibility of the homeowner (or maybe the renter) to let immigration know that she staying there? I thought there was some sort of rule like that. That might have been the old days or maybe I was just confused.
thanks, Wayne

Yeah, I agree with you. The only reason I’m still subscribed to the Thaiger is to get Jett’s news. Otherwise I’m done with them as well. #TNT4me

I’ve come to Thailand from Canada on a one-way ticket before. My shock was buying the one-way return ticket to Canada from Thailand. It was almost the same price that I would’ve paid on a round-trip from Canada.
You might be better off buying a round-trip ticket with the ability to change your departure date. Additional fees required.

He said he was travelling in a single carriageway road - so that’s easily 3 lanes wide ???? be safe, be seen and definitely don’t go if you can’t see clearly. Where I’m from, flashing the headlights also is telling you to go. I found out quickly in Thailand that to be quite the opposite ????????♂️

I wonder what the position is where people are riding in the bed of a pickup ? A long time ago it was decreed by the PM that it is not lawful and almost immediately it appears to have been ignored. I wonder if rear seat belt usage will undergo a similar fate ?
Yes, I remember that. And before the ink had dried they were already making exceptions. For example except taking kids to and from school. Or during Songkran of course.

I’m curious if anything has been learned from this. Also, have they reported the cause? landed short? excessive speed? brakes ???? (always need to include brakes)

That is food for thought. When you buy a ticket does it ask for nationality? If it does why not put Thai in the drop down box.....is that how they will be charging the extra 300 Thb, or will every traveler pay it regardless.....
It’s based on your passport. Names must match. Even more so now than before. I had one ticket that was missing my middle name. That seemed to be a big problem.

Farmers Now Forbidden From Drying Rice On Roads
in Thailand News
Posted
This isn’t a new regulation, it pops up every other year. The problem is not creating regulations. It’s enforcing them. Farmers need to dry the rice somewhere. So they just use the road. They need to burn stuff so they burn stuff. Nothing ever changes when it comes to that.
