  1. Leave the Thais be.

Right or wrong, most here (farangs) in Thailand are here with the permission of the Thai government. If you want the take a stance on "racism" or any other garden variety "do good cause" go back to your own bloody country and open a Non-Profit.

But please stop bellyaching about this silly nonsense.

We all have our own silly misconceptions, nobody is perfect.

Thai children, indeed all children are educated socially at home!

Ugly and Pretty are defined there, not in the classroom!

  2. Opened Siam account, filled out U.S. Tax form and others... Blue book... And multiple o visa passport.

    Done! No letter.

    Drivers license yes......

Got drivers license @ UdonThani needed doctors note, immigration letter for motorbike and car (2 letters) immigration guy said my wife wasn't good enough and I needed a second witness.

1000bht later I had my letters.

No flaming, I know.. I know...

    Anyway..

    Transportation dept was aces!

360bht for both licenses, no practical, no written!

But I was friendly with the supervisor, he asked what country is best Thailand or my country and the correct answer is Thailand.

Next question, why u like thailan?

Because I love the food, and love to fish!

He was happy with my answers and 360baht and 35 minutes later I had my Thai drivers license(s).

But yes, you do need the letters for this.

By the way, I got my license 14 days ago so the information is current.

  3. Once upon a time the NY Branch of Bangkok Bank had a U.S. Swiftcode ... Making it possible for direct deposits in the United States to appear in a local Bangkok Bank account.

So essentially, without the use of an ATM the money could be drawn almost immediately.

Anyway, does anyone no if this is still possible?

Even the local Branch managers don't seem to know.

  4. As a retired Police Lieutenant, from the USA I will tell you that one of the many things done at a crime scene is to canvass, and gather all video both public and private.

What happened here, isn't a simple case of incompetence. It is collaboration!

My Thai wife says that a son of the Village head was behind it, I don't know and really don't care.

I just know that I try my best to never travel to far from a consulate because although most have a hard time admitting it...

Thailand is indeed a 3rd world country!
