  1. Could be long jail time.

How many rich and important people, can you remember that got long jail terms and serve them in Thailand? I don't know one.

So the chances are good that she won't as well.

Exactly! She gonna pay a few millions in fines out of her tip box and continue biz as usual.

  2. submitted a petition to the Supreme Court stating that additional documents filed to the court to support charges upon her in the alleged rice-pledging scheme corruption scandal was unfair

More evidence against a defendant is unfair? blink.pnghuh.png

    Rather odd logic.

She blinded you with science! :)

  3. Very good summary about the Erawan Shrine.

    http://www.absolutethai.com/erawan-shrine/

Would like to quote two things that stuck in my mind after reading:

"THIS IS THE ERAWAN SHRINE, AND IT IS ONE OF THE MOST SPIRITUALLY SIGNIFICANT PLACES FOR BANGKOK RESIDENTS."

"THE FACT THAT THE RAJAPRASONG INTERSECTION WAS ALSO A PLACE, HISTORICALLY, WHERE CRIMINALS WERE PUBLICALLY EXECUTED DID NOTHING TO DISPEL FEARS OF A CURSE."

  4. If one googles images under Thanakorn Pakdeepol, he will find a graphic photo of the dead man. Think it's too drastic to post it here. Resembles pretty much how a bomb attack victim may look like. I am quite sure there's a connection. If one would want to destroy tourism, Khao San road would have been a more effective location. I am 100% sure the motive is in connection to the shrine and has a religious and/or personal motive.

  5. Monks should stay out of politics. Full stop. This also counts (at least in my opinion) for the Dalai Lama, who was on CIA pay roll in the 70s. I can't find any chapter in Buddha's teachings that advises monks to mingle in politics, letting alone travelling the world first class, shaking hands with any crook that agrees to a reception and some small talk in front of cameras. If any spiritual leader would really be as holy and as above all as claimed, he would be sitting on a rock somewhere with world leaders flocking to him, not the other way around. Have no sympathy and respect for you orange-clothed hypocites!

  6. I find it very disturbing, that inmates - with some of them having committed vicious murders, rapes, etc. (i.e. rape and murder of a 19 year old "woman", or bludgeoning a 76 year old granny to death over 50 bucks in her purse) - feel they are "above" the rank of a kiddy fiddler (who hasn't commited murder)... Even more disturbing is that some civilians and forum members agree on a murderer and rapist of a victim of "proper age" standing above a child molester. There's something wrong with human nature...

  7. If they want to fine motorists 2000 baht for having a wind up toy on the car what should the penalty for this be ?

500 Baht for reckless driving... If wrong direction driving Karate Kid would have killed the driver of the Honda during that attack, perhaps snapping the spine, he would tell police officers that he was "angry", and he would receive understanding nods from the officers in charge and the judge and be back on the streets to create more mayhem in no time. In my home town here, we have a person walking free. He shot a massage women in the back, because he was "angry", thinking that this massage women was talking his mia noi into marrying a foreigner instead. That was reason enough for him to shoot that poor women dead. The police nodded to his "well, I was angry" argument and off he went. No trial, as there were no official proscecutors, no family... He's walking about here in the village as a free man - would you f***ing believe it?

  8. May his fate be that any business and venture he ever starts, owns or part owns will fail completely and cost Chuwit dearly until he runs out of money for good and eventually shoots himself in the head. He shall survive that incident and be a comatose vegetable for the rest of his miserable life, being a financial and social burden for his family. Think that would be an equal fate for a person who takes pride in destroying other peoples' livelyhoods.

  9. This film is based on the coup in Vietnam in 1963.

Thai coups are too lame to base a film on, except maybe for the Manhattan Rebellion in 1951.

Then why is there Burmese script on the police riot shields and I don't think Vietnamese wear the longyi?.

One goof I noticed was a True satellite dish on a building......in 1963.

Might be a good movie with Brosnan in it.

Well spotted! Yeah, the movie will be really good, but not sure if it helps to bring more tourists to Thailand...? Good thing is that people forget easily.

  10. After 14 years of making the wong choices in LOS (too young, always after the most pretty ones, etc.), I found my wife, we're together for 11 years now, have two great kids and have some good fights at times. In my case I can say that without her I wouldn't be where I, respectively we, are today. Her hard work and determination, plus her great personality - outgoing, funny, friendly and genuine - won over so many people and new friends, and she is of great help to me every day. While others' wifes yearn for shopping and cash, her biggest dream would be to live and work in our farm full time. She's at eye level with our Thai and burmese employees and would never have any wannabe HiSo fits plus is she a great mom to our kids, generally interested in all things, hates Thai soaps and wants to watch all movies in original soundtrack since she branded the Thai translated versions as "lame". As I said, we have our fights, she and I have our erratic mood swings, but that's life... I feel blessed!!! To answer the OP's question - both of us, my wife and I give and take - door swings both ways in our relationship, and I know that is very seldom here.

Probably right. Thai coups are pretty lame.

On the movies trailer the cops have Thai writing on their riot shields though.

Wrong! It's Khmer and upside down.

Stop, Think and Act! It helps!

I noticed that in the trailer and thus thought it was about a fictional coup in Cambodia during the 60s-70s. If it's supposed to be about Vietnam, they really got sloppy--was it shot in Cambodia?

No, it was shot in Thailand.
