  1. So let me see if I get this straight...

If I get a SETV it will last for 60 days + 30 days of extension = 3 months.

Once it runs out, I go to a neighbour embassy and get another visa that lasts for another 3 months including the extension.

I can SURELY do this for at least 1 year (four SETV in a row), and then what? You think im getting denied another SETV? Is it certain that if I mix the embassies where I apply I will be able to get further SETV? Or I can do 4 SETV in a row in the same embassy and then change to another embassy and repeat the process?

Also, with this SETV visa hops have no more sense as there are no more entries to "Activate", am I rite?

Undoubtley seems more complicated than before with METV but I think is still doable. Will cost a lil bit more money in the long run but if you really want to stay in Thailand long term you can do it based solely on SETV.

Correct me if (where) im wrong please!

  2. You can stay longer than the date your visa expires. That is just the last date you can use it do your 3rd entry. You will be able to stay 90 days beyond that date.

If you wanted to stay longer than that you could get a 2 entry tourist visa in Laos.

    Well, couldve been worse!

And that double entry visa I get in Laos works just like the one I already have and each entry will be stamped for 60 days + 30 day extension I can get at an inmigration office, right?

Also, is this 100% certain? Is like a standar procedure and I wont be troubled with some sort of issue from inmigration officer/border control operator?

Sorry if im annoying but wanna get everything as clear as possible all this visa thing makes me nervous tongue.png

  3. Sorry! The visa I got is a triple entry visa.

So first time I enter Thailand I can stay 60 days. Once those 60 days end I can apply for a 30 day extension at an inmigration office and extend the first stay to 90 days wihtout a border run?

Then after those 30 days run out too I have to exit Thailand, re enter and activate second entry and repeat the same process as above... and then all again for the third entry, did I get this right?

If this is right and my math doesnt fail I have up to 9 months of vise taken care from the first day I step on the country right?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Hey there,

Just came back from Thai consulate in Montevideo (located at World Trade Center Tower Number 3 office 370, open from MON to FRI from 9:30 to 12 and from 15 to 18) and requested my visa.

I gave them my passport + the filled application (enclosed in this thread) + a small picture of me sized around 4cm x 5cm (called FOTO CARNET here) and they just made me sign the receit and pay the visa and itll be ready within 6 days (I can pick it up SEP 30).

On the form they ask you to state where are you gonna stay during your visit to Thailand and for how long. I explained to the lady in the consulate that I was unsure of where I was going to stay because Thailand was in the middle of my schedule and havent made any reservations yet and she told me to simply put any Hotel direction, that they never check the reservations so I did. That was probably the only "tricky" part of the form. They also ask for some acquaintance on Thai territory but is for people going to seminars or congress and I just left it blank. Also they ask how youre getting there (which airline is your flight) or through which border you plan to enter and how (train, bus, car, etc).

They offer single, double and triple entry visa. Single entry visa costs US$40 and is valid for 3months after they issue it, double entry costs US$80 and triple entry costs US$120 and theyre both valid for 6 months after issued. You gotta pay on USD and with the exact money as they dont have change.

    Now the questions...

When I told the lady that I was getting through Laos border she said that the inmigration officer normally stamps you for 15 days if you get through land and 30 days if you get through air. Is this accurate? She also said that you can extend it at a local inmigration office if you have a good speech, anyone tried this?

Now, Id like to know how to proceed with my visa to activate the entries for the maximum amount of time possible. Do I have to do a border run each time? Also when my visa runs out If i want to stay a little bit longer in Thailand I gotta fly to Myanmar and get a double entry visa again right?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

  5. Thanks a lot paz, thats exactly what Ive been looking for.

Let me see if I get this straight, but if they give me a single entry visa here I have to do the visa run once per month wether if they give me a -say- triple entry visa I have to do the run once every three months?

Also, the visa run HAS to be to Laos or can it be to a different destination?

Finally, can I get my visa right now and will begin to count once I get to Thailand or starts counting once they approve it and I have to wait closer to departure date to apply for it?

    Thanks again

  6. Hey there,

Im a 24yo uruguayan thats arriving to Hong Kong this Nov 20.

My plan is to go to Thailand a couple of days after and settle down on Pattaya to work for as long as possible wo inflicting any law or visa requirement.

Could you help me (or point me to some articles/websites that can) on what should I do in order to apply for my visa?

I read some posts on here but I get more and more confused w each one and im uncertain on how to even start. Hope this post is not redundant or 'a repost' somehow.

    Thanks in advance!
