  1. I think Thailand better think again about promoting getting mostly Chinese tourist. They seem to not want us from the west any more even though that is how they made their economy what it is. Diversity is basic business but who are the people running Thailand??  All one eggs in one basket and then it falls, then what?  I hope they realize all this, I say this because I like Thailand, but they have not treated me well when I come once a year because 3 years ago I was in and out on visas.

  2. This is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. Relying on Chinese mostly for their tourism money is going to hurt. Too much thinking like military instead of like politicians for businesses. Same things happen to any business that relies on one customer. Something goes wrong and viola, business goes down the tubes. Takes time to recover and the big question is will Thailand learn a less from this???

  3. I was not asked for an onward ticket, but I was ready with proof if they had. This year prior to this entry I used one exempt by land and two visas, one from Cambodia and one from Vietnam. My entry this time I was only planning on staying 60 days max. and I didn't want to pay a visa fee. I was going to in Hanoi, but I was warned there might be a problem by the visa agent. I think it was because this was the second time in a row getting a visa from the same Thai consulate and getting it meant I would have spent more then 6 months in Thailand during 2017. I decided to stay in Vietnam longer then 30 days but I ended up breaking a bone in my foot and Bangkok hospitals are so much better then Vietnam hospital. Hence, I came back a little earlier then I intended and they gave me grief for coming back. I was in a wheel chair too because of the long walk through the terminal.

  4. I got a red flag coming back from Vietnam this last time and I have only a 30 day entry. How long will it be before I can come back to Thailand? I have used both exempt entries and tourists visas for the past two years coming into Thailand. I travel in SE Asia and go to neighboring countries and come back to Bangkok. I often stay 60-90 days in Thailand and then leave for a month or two and come back,. This last time I came back on exempt entry after spending 6 weeks in Vietnam. I also go to Cambodia and spend 1-2 months at a time but overall I spend more time in BKK.

How long do I have to wait, and what will I have to do if I come back to Bangkok? I am a photographer, but I don't work here in Thailand, but I may need to come back to get my cameras fixed from time to time. How long before I can come back here? After this episode I decided to live in Vietnam not Thailand so I don't want to get a different Thai visa.

  5. In reply to why I went to go see a doctor. First of all I've had plenty of experience with doctors since my wife died from cancer and I also have had it. Doctors are not always right and the two other doctors I saw thought it needed to be done quick. The point is a doctor is guessing, thats why they call it a medical practice and I've had my share of doctors being wrong especially when two others disagreed with him.  Price is an issue and the one I could afford is the one that can't do it right away. And maybe, just maybe this doctor said its ok because he wants me to wait. All I know is its getting bigger as I wait and he was wrong about it not getting worse.

I'm not replying to anymore idiotic statements like the one above that doesn't have anything constructive to say!!!

  6. Bangkok in general would be the easiest because its a major transportation hub. With that said, you should try some other places in Thailand and see if you like it? For example if you live in Krabi, maybe the extra time and money to travel is worth it? You can take the bus or train back to BKK or fly to Singapore or other countries from the Phuket airport.

Just see what place you want to live before deciding. If money is a problem I'd look at Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai because its cheaper there and there's a train and bus and border runs to Laos and Burma.

Good luck...go and see what places you want to live to weigh the pros and cons.

  7. Unfortunately my doctor said I could travel and he could not perform the surgery until the end of Oct. I don't agree with him because the hernia is getting bigger everyday and it beginning to hurt. He says I have had it a long time, I disagree, I even know when and where I got it.

I'm screwed and have to leave. So much for all Thai doctors have compassion, NOT.  He would not answer when I said I have to carry things is that ok? No answer!  I have a medical letter but it does not say I can't travel.

  8. I am in Thailand on a extended stay, not visa. To be clear, I came by bus from Cambodia and received a 30 day stay and then went to immigration and paid 1900 baht to extend. I have to leave by Aug 22 as it stands right. now

I found out I have a hernia and I don't want to leave but I do not have enough money for the operation until mid September. I went to the hospital and they gave me a paper saying what the problem was but I made the mistake of not scheduling the surgery because the wanted to know right then and there when. I had to go over my finance at my hotel to figure out.

The Question is if I get the surgery scheduled in mid September with the right paperwork, can I go to immigration to get a 90 day medical visa without having to leave the country. I can not carry anything or I could end up with an emergency situation. I do not want to leave to go to Cambodia or Burma, Laos etc and have a problem.  I can not carry anything or I may end up with an emergency situation with my intestine getting choked in through my hernia. Doctor said it is dangerous.

Can anyone say if I can get a medical visa without leaving the country with the right paperwork from the hospital?

    Thank You...

  9. I sure could use some help and not sure where to post but its on same topic.

How many days do I get if I cross the border by land from Cambodia?

I have been back and forth between Thailand and Cambodia over the last year and usually fly to get the 30 days but the question is do I get 30 from ground border crossing for US citizen who has not been in Thailand for the past 60 days? I have been in Cambodia for 60 days this time and going back to Thailand and need 30 days if possible before I go to another country. I am US citizen.

    Thank you!!

  10. I just left by bus though the border going to Cambodia and was over one day. Last year immigration in BKK said one day over was no charge. They charged me 500 baht for the one day. I was not happy since I was told otherwise. They were arrogant and arrested me, interviews me, fined me for the one day and then made me sign admission of guilt. I was not happy since I did not expect to be charged for the one day.

What kind of way is that to treat a tourist??? It was only one day!!!

The problem with the military government is that they are strict and don't care about anything except the rules. I didn't think they had a rule to charge me of the one day over? They don't do things that benefit the Thai people or tourists that spend money, all they care is to act like the military. Pretty shitty!!
