  1. Hi all,

Everything is in the title but I will stretch the thing so I may help someone.

I met a Thai woman that didn't speak English at all, then got to learn Thai, then got to know her ( as I thought ),married her, and it brought me to this point. They are all changing after marriage, so the more you know her the better you're gonna make it, but you get truly cheated whoever you met.

Mine is fine, there is much, ohh, much worse than her, but I got cheated on the merchandise. Maybe that's not Thai women, that's just women after all.

I knew she wasn't smart, I knew she was lazy, I knew my **** hurt her every time we did it but I didn't expect it to go worse after marriage. She faded her defects to marry me then I saw who she was. More unintelligent, more lazy and less sex.

I guess flirting with your guy until he gives you a ring is an ABC for a woman, but hypocrisy ( or women) make(s) me mad when I'm betting my money on it and when I'm the one who gets stuffed.

Just a post to say you're the only trustworthy for yourself.

    Cheers.

  2. What level are you at ?

I can say the most common things, and also, can speak my mind most of the time. Nevertheless I am a perfectionist, and even if I'm average in Thai I, all the time want (wish) to learn new words or to speak a word the right way. Yes, I make many mistakes on the tones and still can't say horse without feeling stupid. Often I speak with my wife's niece who's 4 years old and speaks Thai but with a narrow vocabulary, and can hold the conversation with her most of the time. She speaks it better than me.

So I am just average or below.

Can you read and write ?

I can read, slowly, not fast enough to read the signs on the edge of the road though. I can read my wife's Facebook.

    I can't write at all .

How long have you been learning ?

My first year in Thailand I didn't care about the language, so that's 3 years.

    How did you learn ?

I had an ED visa for 2 years but went to 15 classes, maybe 20. That taught me a bit of the alphabet.

What other languages did you speak before Thai ?

French is my mother tongue, then at the age of 12 I could speak Spanish thanks to two years in Chile, then I went to stay in Canada for a couple of years and learned English, later at university I learned Italian, and the first time I opened a Portuguese novel, I could read it, that was like magic :sleepy: , then I opened the news papers and was able to understand everything too, but can't understand people speak or speak it myself.

So that makes 4 languages, plus read Portuguese and a fourth to third of the way in Thai.

  3. I have asked my embassy for the financial requirements of the marriage visa and they told me the immigration offices are kind of independent from a region to another, so I have to ask to the immigration office from where I live to have this information.

But some may know here if this is doable.

I will get into thailand by plane with a 3 months marriage visa and I will have 400k baht for the year extension,

But I may not be able to have this money every year on a Thai bank account,

So, I want to transfer 40k baht every month to my Thai bank account from France, for 15 months, and live with that money.

Will that money transfers be fine for getting my next one year extension ( in sakaeo immigration ) ?

  4. I bought the M3 recently for 11 000 in tukcom pattaya and it is really worth it. The sound is really clear and powerful, the battery lasts long, about 10 hours. If I had to do it I would buy it again. One negative point though it's quite heavy.

  5. I'm now 31 with 4 years here in Thailand, and on my small experience, it's not easier to find a GF or wife when you are 25 years younger than most expats.

Because women in their 20's like everywhere in the world have big dreams and feel invincible. So not attracted by an average falang in his early 30's. How can you make Thai girls dreams come true ? Guess

So I had to dig deep to find what I wanted, she's from group 3 on all aspects except that she did some university.

  6. My Thai wife and I are currently in siem reap for a little journey, and on the way to siem reap in the van she showed me her passport with no entry stamp in Cambodia. She has the exit stamp from Thai border but nothing else.

We crossed the border at aranyaprathet / poipet.

Is it normal ? Or is it really bad like we have to go to the police station right now ?

Or can we get back through airport immigration in 4 days with no problem ?

How to make 750k ? Start with 3 mil sounds perfect "thai" logic or in other words how to make a small fortune, start with a big one.

I dont know your area, but ask one simple question, other than your "resort" what is in or near you that people want to see or do ? If the answer is nothing, forget it, people wont travel just for you and your resort, it wont work. If there are other things in your area, then with correct marketing strategy it may work. (IMHO).

I would invest an amount of money in planting "teak" trees on the 6 rai, Leave them 10 yrs ideally 20 and harvest. Cost very little, low to no maitenance, huge return later. Invest the rest elsewhere safely.

    Just a suggestion.

I have been thinking also about planting trees to sell them. little to take care, and no risk to be stolen, not like fruits or any kind of food.

If you read enough of ThaiVisa, and remove the "color" from the comments, it can be very instructive by learning from the mistakes of many before you who say the very same words as you are now.  They disregard their knowledge that they need more in life, be it activities or business to "keep them busy", but wind up in some dusty village in the middle of nowhere to placate their possessive/jealous minded Thai wife and her need to build security for herself and her family, using you as the means.  I'm not saying your wife is a bad person, I do not know her.  But the story is Xerox copy of 1,000 others before you.

I was in your position before and had the same "good ideas" about doing this or that business just to "keep busy", buy land, etc...  I managed to let the feelings and "good ideas" pass with time, and lived a quiet 4 years in the countryside.  We have now moved closer to the city, in a rented house to be closer to our friends and social activities.   I don't regret the past 4 years, I do have a love for open space of big land, nice house, country life.... but not for rest of my life.

Your idea can work but be aware that while everyone may seem full of energy and agree with your good ideas now, if it fails, they become bored and drift away, leaving your bank account smaller with nothing to show for it except 6 Rai of land you don't own, with empty buildings that begin to decay.

In my case, I kept my money in the bank away from Thailand, where it produces monthly income.  My wife and I use that money to be free, travel inside Thailand and abroad, instead of being chained to a stationary business in some dusty old village that you will grow tired and weary of in a few years.

Be smart, don't let your mind and good ideas influence you to do something stupid.

For the fact that I don't own the 6 rai but my wife and future cubs does isn't a problem.

If there is 8 close to collapse bungalows that attracted no one that is one of a problem.

Planting fruits that my wife and or relatives could sell on the market seems a better idea.

And yes, obviously I'm here because her family needs my money to make their life brighter.

I'm not willing to give them more than the food they need and building a resort would be a bad idea as all the income would go for Thai family purpose.

I guess I will stick with the fruit trees idea.

is it on a main highway ...  ?      if so,  thats a start otherwise forget it.

website booking offering special rates at certain times ?

with some local travel shops that provide tourist info ..   ?

    promotion parties .,  ?

there are many things you can do but remember .....  many fail and are for sale.

100% of hotels in the region except in aranyaprathet aren't working, there is an Italian restaurant on the 3x3 road near sakaeo, it isn't working. nothing works in this country except businesses for Thai people.

I am far from that main roads.

Start slowly, very slowly. First try one room. If you can attract enough visitors build the next one. But everything happens slowly and you will need enough capital to carry you though till the mango and papaya tress grow and start producing fruit.

I have just set up a domain (rather than a site) Unseen Thailand. I have got to market the sort of set up you have in mind. There is a dearth of information about roads that are less well travelled and that is not going to change overnight. But it is a gap in the market and if you are interested there is plenty you can do.

In starting a business the first thing you have to think of is the place, in second, the place and thirdly the place. I know that but I may don't consider it reasonably. So planting fruit trees with some veggies is the easiest option. But I don't want to stick to that.
