  1. Don't walk away, run away. Love yourself. There are plenty of wonderful gal here. If you want a real relationship learn the language and culture and find a woman who wants the same things you do. And here's one tip. If a Thai woman will go out on the first few dates with you without a chaperone then she is a professional. That is definitely not what you want for a long-term relationship, in my opinion anyways. For what it's worth.

  2. DeWalt makes a nice power supply that would be suitable for this but probably Overkill. As one poster said Lozada should have a simple set up for you. If you are not handy with the technical part you can go to Pantip Plaza and there are many vendors who would help you with a lightweight portable solution and can make you aware of the limitations and advantages. What you are looking for is very reasonable thing to do. Good luck.

  3. Thank you very much for your help. I believe I will get a 90 days on arrival and then get a 60-day extension which will take care of this trip. Would love to stay longer but unfortunately I must return to work. I really enjoy Issan and the traditional life to be had there. Personally I believe the rest of the world has many lessons to learn from the humble yet Noble Thai people. The quintessential Thai community has a lot of care and wisdom and leaves no one behind. Thanks again everyone.

I am an American citizen with a non o multiple one-year Visa based on marriage. The Visa expires on September 18th 2019. I am now working in America and have been for the past five months. Previously I spent 5 months in Thailand with my wife on this Visa. My plan is to return to Thailand on September 15th 2019 and I wish to stay for 5 months returning in early February for work. I believe I can get 90 days on my previous Visa upon arrival. After this I am a little confused as to what to do next, perhaps an extension for the additional two months? If anyone has some information I would appreciate the help.UbonJoe may have a little information he can add? Thank you so much for any help in clarification for anyone who would share their time to help me here.

  5. Yes, a multitude of ultra convenient micro sellers that were appropriate to the 1800s...   Modern cities simply can't afford to have their main arteries clogged by vendors squatting on pedestrian right-of-ways.  You might think it quaint.  You might think it charming.   You might think it "traditional".   But if you're just trying to get from A to B, as the vast majority on these main thoroughfares are wont to do,  it's a huge PIA totally irrelevant to modern day.   You're apparently confounded by the difference between legitimate "demand" and rank me-first opportunism.   The solution requires some more competent planning and preparation perhaps, but not a return to a highly dysfunctional throwback.  ....that plus the fact that what grew up over centuries isn't going to be replaced with new public attitudes and habits overnight:  it WILL take time and perseverance.

Some of us like the rainbow that is the food we can get on the street. Vanilla no culture over-controlled overtaxed cities is what you can have in the West. If you don't like the culture that has developed here in Southeast Asia you can always go to America or Europe.

  6. I always pay and expect to pay when I need Hospital treatment in Thailand . The cost is always very reasonable. The service is excellent with modern equipment and competent and respectful people. The Insurance model and mindset will destroy this fair way of life as it has done in the USA . Pay your way in Thailand,it not free, but a reasonable evolution of human medical care . To expect free Medical care in Thailand is irresponsible.

  7. Can anyone share with me the standard procedure for getting a double entry tourist visa in Vientiane for an American passport holder ? I cannot seem to find it here . Seemed odd . Can it be done in 1 day ? Where is the Consulate ? Not at the Thai embassy , right ? I think the basics should be posted here but I don't see it . ( probably my incompetence ) What is the cost ? Cost of transport (general ) Help ---
