  1. We are going on our holiday to Thailand in the end of next week for a little more than three weeks. As a part of our holiday we have planned to visit Koh Samui from around 25-26 of January and one week forward.

We hope to spend most of the time relaxing on the beaches, but as far as we have understood it has been raining for very long period on Koh Samui now, and as far as the weather reports shows it continues with clouds, showers and thunderstorms. :o

Is it still worth visiting Koh Samui if your main activity should be relaxing on the beach, snorkeling etc. ?

How is it right now on Koh Samui - Is it cloudy and raining all day long or do you see the sun from time to time also ?

  2. We are going trekking in the Mae Tang area north of Chiang Mai for four days end of January.

Are there many mosquitoes there or is it not big problem ?

Will it be necessary to bring mosquito net for the nights staying in the hill tripe villages

  3. A little while ago I tried to locate a guide we knew from a previous trip to CM, but without any luck. Now we have arranged our trekking tour we some other local guide, but it would still be great to meet the guide from last time, as he was a really nice guy.

Does anyone in here know him ??

His name is Somporn, K and he lived in Sansai Village, Sansai District in Chiangmai with his wife and children back in Nov. 2003. At that time I would guess his age to have been around 35-40 maybe little less. Other information about him: He has been studying in UK. In Nov 2003 he, among other things, worked as guide for the Scandinavian company Kuoni.

Please let me know if anyone know him, I would really like to meet him again.

  5. Hi everyone !

We are going to stay the last week of January 2006 in Chiang Mai and the area around Chaing Mai. We are going for a 4 days trek in the hills northeast of Chiang Mai staying over with different hill trips on our way.

I have a few questions, which I hope some of you can help me with:

    1. How is the weather op in the hills in the end of January? Especially how hot is in daytime and how low does the temperature drop during night?

    2. I read something about very poor air conditions during the burning season. What period of the year is burning season? How does it affect the air up in the hills like maybe 50km northeast of Chiang Mai ?

    3. Malaria. Is it necessary to take any precaution against malaria going on a 4 days trek like we are?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi

I'm going to Koh Samui around the 1st February next year. I have just few questions regarding what weather to expect.

    1. What time of the year is the rain season on Koh Samui ?

I've been to Thailand several times but never to Koh Samui before, and as far as I can understand the rain season on Koh Samui differs from the rest of Thailand when it comes to time of the year.

    2. If February is in the rain season - How much rain should I expect ?

Hours per day and time of day ?

    3. If February is not rain season - How is the weather then normaly in the beginning of February ?

Rain ? Showers ? Sun all day through ?

See you there in February :o
