  1. Krungsri allows easy up to 30.000 withdrawal , of course it depends on the limit you domestic bank has put on your card. As a bonus - when you use krungsri you can change the atm-receipt for 1 free coca cola in family mart :)

Citibank has no fee on the Thai side (for most european nationals) - but (in my case) a slightly higher fee from my domestic bank (but combined it was still less than other thai banks) and also allow 30.000 withdrawals

  2. I want to join here :)

First i want to say that i personally like thai style house, even i mostly stayed in condos here.

But if you want to build western style , the first very important thing is construction materials. Don´t use cheap materials that will break after 5 years. Use good quality materials , so even in 20 years everything still works.

Good quality cement , bricks , water pipes, fittings etc.

It´s better to spend more money when you build the house , so you don´t have to fix everything all the time. It will be more expensive in the long run.

Electric wiring, plugs and outlets have to be the best you can get, and put plenty of outlets in all rooms !! Do not try to save money and buy the cheap !!

As for furniture , we all like different things. For me the most important is the sofa - it needs to be with chaiselong , i love it :)http://intense-mobiliario.com/img/p/9263-35372-thickbox.jpg

In the garden there should be a lawn , some kind of water fountain (the sound of running water is nice) , and some poles or trees whith hammocks attached (there should also be a system/umbrella so we can choose to have sun or shade in our hammocks!) , and of course a terrasse are for eating with a nice barbeque! https://www.homify.de/ideenbuecher/436682/in-nur-6-schritten-kannst-du-deinen-eigenen-steinofen-bauen

    Thats a few ideas anyway

And happy Shivaratri to all :)

  3. Go for a swim in Grand Canyon - its a really cool place , beautiful , have food and cold drinks , and plenty of young western girls hanging out sunbathing and swimming.

Best way to get there is to rent a scooter , be aware that google maps leads you only almost there but there are plenty of locals that can show you the rest of the way. There is even signs everywhere that they will guide you for 40 baht .

Secondly , Rent a scooter/motorbike , all the cool places are out of town in the hills.

I heard from a couple of girls that Pai is a really cool place with a funky vibe and a nice party scene , full of young sluts backpacker girls looking for a good time.

Pai is about 100+ km from CM, but a nice ride trought the hills with awesome scenery.

Instead of the highway, take the mountain road (a bit longer but safer and beautiful), first drive to Samoeng and from there to Pai.

If you have more time , drive in the direction of Chiang Rai.

(Maybe some of the oldtimers here can recommend a bike shop that gives you a good bike)

I know you dont like animal cruelty , but the tiger world was one of my favourites in CM , yeah the tigers are doped and its maybe a bit cruel, but its some awsome pictures you can show your friends back home petting a tiger :) And who knows , maybe the tigers are actually enjoying getting stoned like we humans do..

  4. Can tell you i opened account withtourist visa few days ago - krungsri branch in exchange tower (Asok bts)

When i was in pattaya i tried many banks , they all refused without work permit or a 6 month lease contract at condo, or thai driving license,

and sure enough- the first i asked in exchange tower bkk gave me an account on the spot!

the specific post i read about exchange tower - that couple was asked to bring a "letter of residence" (free from memory) from embassy. They used the hotel address they were staying at - no problem

I also had email exchange with Bangkok bank , and they said that i needed that same residence paper from my embassy to open account.

So as i went to exchange tower i was prepared that i might had to go to my embassy and get that paper - which cost 1000 baht.

but in Krungsri they didnt even asked for that. cost was 200+300 for atm-card + annual fee , and minium deposit 500 baht.

The atm-card i got can only be used in krungsri atm tho, but its ok with me since they are everywhere smile.png

edit: hmm seems like a line or 2 dissapeared , but i think it still makes sense

  5. To be honest if the money is small its better to speak to the landlord and sort it out properly, otherwise your ex and the landlord could play screw over the foreigner, go to the police, file a report against you and then you might find yourself arrested next time you arrive, this type of thing happens all the time and Thais will always stick together.

Might not happen but you never know

Thats what i was afraid someone would say

But since youre the only one im gonna take the chance and run :)

They dont have any paper of me living there..

  6. Gecko whatever dude

@ meatboy , well i wouldnt say i havent learned anything haha , i had already planned to tell her a false location wink.png

Besides that i knew i was taking a big risk , so of course i didnt loose more money than i could afford to loose.. But sometimes you can win the lottery and if you dont try then you wont for sure..

Anyway thanks for advice - really appriciate you guys take your time to help yet another stupid neewbie farang hahaha

  7. Wow thanks for so fast reply haha amazing guys.

@ Crazy chef : love your avatar man and your reply as well wink.png

@Happy26 i think it applies to all over the world. it can happen anywhere.

Edit: I would love to hear more opinions guys :)

  8. Hi i just want to start saying ive been reading many posts in here recent years, but this is my first post.

Im in kind of a dilemma , and i thought i could use the advise from you guys.

Here is the short version (ill try to make it short anyway)

last year i met a girl, fell kinda in love Went back home. She couldnt find a job in home town (she said), but told me that she could get in a major city. So she moved there , i sended money so she could rent a condo there for us, as i was going back to Thailand again 2 months thereafter.

Money for deposit, rent etc i sended.

on the first of last month i again sended money to pay for rent, i would arrive 1 week later.

When i arrived i found out she was bangin another farang, even moved in with him so i decided to stop the relationship.

It turns out she hadnt used the money i sended to pay rent, so i had a choice to either get the <deleted> out of there or pay the bill

I decided that i might aswell pay the bill and stay there 1 month as the rent were cheap and it was a nice place, and i thought hey i might as well pay for the month - then i have a place to stay and she wouldnt need to pay that bill.

Told her to move out and live with her new boyfriend, so i had the condo by myself.

She acceptede that ... ok so far.

We agreed that she would contact the manager of the condo, and make sure that when i left after the month was finished, the manager should use the deposit to pay for the electric bill etc.

Now comes the 1st again and they gave me a bill for full stay 1 more month without deducting the deposit.

Im pissed as hell , as she told me she took care of it an dnot to worry. Im 99,99% sure that she was planning the whole time to scoop the deposit plus that extra months rent.

The condo is in her name, so i figured i could just pack my bags and leave without paying the new bill. Then she would get stuck with the bill (but she would get the deposit back also). She really deserves it.

Anyway what do you guys think about me just getting the <deleted> out of there ?

There is the moral side , and could i get in trouble with police ?
