  1. I am a home brewer and would love to practice my hobby at home because I enjoy beer with flavor.  I'm not after a higher alcohol content, just more flavor.  The larger brewers fail to produce anything that has a decent flavor.  Allowing microbreweries to set up shop would be wonderful.  It would force the two monopolies to rethink what they produce.  I realize that is a term that is not typically associated with large Thai companies, 'rethink', but it would do them some good.

  2. Laws that are not enforced only make the law makers look silly. They need to enforce these laws

Laws are often not enforced in general and only enforced at the discretion of authorities... you have to look no farther back than the old loitering laws that if you were "loitering" but was dressed reasonably.... you would not be bothered... but it you looked like a beggar.... you would find yourself warned or charged.... (the good old days when you were not constantly harassed by professional beggars in major western cities).

You should not be able to pick and chose which laws you want to enforce. All laws should be enforced. In your home country do you adopt the same attitude? I doubt it so you shouldn't adopt it here

Picking and choosing is what humans do best. No matter the country, it is a choice to enforce any law by law enforcement. Do they pull you over going a little bit over the speed limit? Probably not. I passed a cop going 20 mph over the limit on the Interstate. She was in the median using radar. Had me dead in my tracks. She did the naughty finger wave moms are so good at as I passed her. She chose not to come after me. Why? Her choice. I agree laws need to be enforced evenly across the board regardless of situation. I doubt it will ever happen though. The big hold up, humans are involved. We are the wild card.

  3. A little bit off topic, I will have 2 days overstay.

Does anyone know where exactly to go in Suvarnabhumi Airport to inform about the 2 day overstay and pay the fine? I want to make sure I inform them first and not the other way round smile.png

You cannot inform them until go through security and get in the line for departure immigration.

As Joe stated, you do not tell them before hand. Once you get to the passport official and they determine you have overstayed, they signal someone to come and escort you to the desk where you will pay your fine. The process can be quick, if there is no one there. My last time leaving Thailand, my flight left at 01:40 the day after my visa on arrival expired. I was at passport control just before midnight but it didn't matter. I was flagged and taken to the counter. My passport was stamped and no fine was paid. Total time, less than 5 minutes. There were three others in front of me that had to pay fines.

  4. Well that was a waste of time. 2-liter bottle mosquito trap has nothing in it this AM. Not a gnat, fly, ant, spider, mosquito, rodent, snake, or any other creature was caught. One could surmise that the trap is not really a trap but a repellent. That's what I'll call it.....my 2-liter bottle mosquito trap repellent. It works so good, nothing will go in it. LOL I will try it again another time and see what happens. Who knows, it might not work like the first time and actually catch something.

  5. Thanks for the advise and recommendations. Was able to get the extension taken care of, without too much hassle. On a side note.....some person really needs to be more happy. He sent such kind and thoughtful words with us all. And those were needed about as much as an elevator in an outhouse. Next time answer the question without spreading your hate around. It would do us all a favor.

FYI~I am not a 'tourist'. I have never needed to get any type of visa due to my normal travel habits in and out of this place. Normally in for 3 weeks or less every 3-4 months. Sucks I only see my Thai wife for that little but it is what it is for now.

  6. Coming back into Thailand, the immigration officer asked me if I knew about the new rules for US passport holders. I responded no, which I hadn't/wasn't aware anything specific had been put out. She said I would have to get a visa the next time I came into Thailand because US passports only have 180 days or 6 times before needing a visa. I have been in and out more than 6 times and never heard of this. I have looked at the visa requirements online and find nothing backing up what she told me.

I have been in and out several times since July but nothing that I think could be considered a visa run. I was in Thailand for a week or so in July and left then returned in mid August. I was here for 60 days starting, paid to get a 30 days extension as required. Left and came back after about 10 days, late Oct. Overstayed 2 days when I left in early Dec and returned Jan 2. Stayed about 10 days left and returned yesterday. Too much too soon? Previously I was in and out every 3-4 months. Is what she told me correct?

  7. UPDATE: Experience at airport leaving with a 2 day overstay.
I arrived at 17:45 on 2 Dec at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Checked into my flight and proceeded to passport control. Got to the clerk who looked at my visa card, thumbed through my passport, twice, and checked his computer. Process was only about 3 minutes. He looked up at me and said '2 day overstay?' I simply said 'yes'. He turned his light on behing his booth to signal someone to come over. Next I walked with this lady to the counter/chair area immediately at the top of the ramp you walk down to get into the actual terminal. No one was there, even through they have quite a few chairs. We walked up to the counter, A gentilman came over, she handed him my passport and departure card. He tapped on his computer a few times, said '1000 baht fine', I paid, signed my name a few times, given a receipt, and off I went. Smooth as silk, only added 10 minutes max to my normal clearing passport times.

  8. I knew I was going to be leaving beyond my 30 Day entry visa, I just didn't know exactly for how long until now. I do have time to get the extension if needed. Unless I am wrong, there is a 500 THB fine per day of overstay, with possibly 1 day grace. To get an extension, 30 day, 1900 THB is needed. I will be returning in April for 2 weeks and then gone again. There are no overstays previous. What are the long term consiquences if I choose the cheaper route and leave Dec 2 and not on Nov 30? Next year I will be registering my marriage and submitting for the O visa.
