  1. Before coming to Thailand 4 yrs ago I stoped in Panama. The original plan was to live there but after I visited thailand I ended up staying.

Big advantages is that they use the US dollar and you can own land without any problems. Seemed like they are not so paranoid about foreigners taking away their autonomy like these idiots do here.

The air is cleaner and eating a nice peice of steak is a lot cheaper.

There are many expats living in David which is the equivalent of chiang mai (higher elevation and cooler weather) and in Bocas del Toro which is comparable to Phuket.

Panana is not as developted as thailand, if it was I would be there.

I heard a lot has changed in the past yrs, they now have a subway system.

Freedom to do business in Pamana is much greater than thailand where u need a thai partner for everything.

I definately think the country is much more welcoming to foreigners than thailand. I still have thoughts about relocating there.

  2. Money here rules above all. There will always be other options.

Look for an ed visa school out of BKK. In some provinces you can still get 1 yr Ed visa and it is fairly easy and cheap. You never have to show up.

In regards to sending your passport to a visa agent in another country and getting it done that is not a bad idea, you just have to make sure they dont enforce the being a resident requirement.

Ignore these negative jealous posts, they are all playa haters.

  3. I would not do an ED visa in any language school in BKK. There have been many posts about the immigration in BKK cracking down on ED visas. At the end the immigration doesnt give a crap if u are a legit student or not and everyone pays the price. Pro language transfered my last extention to their school in Pattaya and I continued attending in BKk. The immigration in BKK is irrational and in my opinion the school is not at fault.

  4. I dont qualify for a retirement visa and dont want to marry a thai women.

I am pondering between the elite visa or investor visa. Elite visa is very straight forward and simple to obtain.

An investor visa per what I understand all is needed to qualify is to bring 10m baht and invest in Thailand.

What qualifies as investment and what does not? Does real estate qualify?

Is the application process simple or there is a lot of bureaucracy?

    Thank you

  5. Arrived in Bali yesterday and went to the consulate to apply for a triple entry tourist visa today. I read the report someone posted here from last month and I had everything ready (bank statement, hotel reservation, ticket out of thailand, 20k in cash, copy of passport, photo).

The guy at the embassy told me he would only give me a single entry because I had only 1 ticket to fly out of Thailand.

He told me if I want 3 entries I needed to show him 3 tickets to fly out of the Kingdom. This is the most idiotic policy I ever heard.

I only had 1 ed visa and 1 tourist visa in my passport.
