ZX10R has an excellent traction control system and multiple power modes, as well as top notch ABS. Unless the rider has self control issues it's safer that a CBR650.
It's also an excellent price here in Thailand, by far the best value litre bike available with excellent support from Kawasaki. Personally I'm waiting to see what Honda does with the CBR1000RR in 2017 but if they do nothing again then I'll have a serious look at the ZX10R, that will give Kawasaki a year to sort out any first year issues and avoid any potential recalls such as the 2015 R1 gearbox issues.
I'm thinking exactly same. I'm Kawa guy but I also could seriously consider CBR1000RR. Potential recalls are now one issue why I didn't order bike yet. 2017 model could be released on Oct. / Mar. It could be vice decision to wait for 2017 model. Other thing is if I can wait

All hype what comes with new ZX10R and price makes bike very, very attractive.
I still have no any own experience or reliable opinions about bike but here is one test drive review what to expect:
-
Depends province where you drive.Working tail light and a license plate?
Needed?

That's very true. Still only those poor helmets are approved here (approval sticker). Premium helmets such as Arai, Shoei, AGV etc. are not approved in Thailand and in many provinces you may need to pay for use of these helmets.next: make people wear a proper helmet. majority of helmets i see offer virtually zero protection (except against birdshit of course).
I still hope in case of accident insurance don't use that argument and leave us uncovered.

Any forum members took test drive or purchased new 2016 ZX10R?
I'm very interested about that bike and close to buy one.
I will keep my current Ninja 650 as commuting bike but look another powerful bike for greater driving experience.
I would be happy for experiences, opinions and discussion about ZX10R.

Chang MotoWhere is Chiang Moto, please?

You made my day easy. Thank you.Good to hear- I'm glad one of my recommendations worked out after my coffee shop suggestion didn't rate too highly on another thread.

So. I went first helmet2home. Huge selection but mostly low quality helmets. Stuff busy with other things. Nothing for me there.
Then headed "flare's" recommended Chang Moto. Nice selection of various MC gears. Great helmets starting from 4500 tb. I took AGV Rossi design. 9500 tb.
Good shop.

Thanks. I will go to take a look.Depends on 'good'..
Helmet to home on sridonchai rd has HJC Ls2 bimola etc kind of lower end style helmets (and much lower end junk too) and can order shark, arai, etc but its spendy. He also has RS tiachi and plenty of other gear of the low to mid end japanese standard.

I'm looking motorcycle accessories shop in Chiang Mai. First priority is good helmet (western standards). Also I'm interested to renew some other gear. Any recommendations for shop to visit?
Thanks.

Thanks. There are now many places for me to check. I will start today one of those with swimming pool and add my comments later on. Few years ago I always combined gym exercise with swimming with very good results. I didn't swim much last 2 years and I feel it's good idea add it on working routines again.
Thanks for your very helpful inputs. Without those I just would blindly look only those 4-5 which comes up with Google searching.

Any personal experience of that place? Pool would be nice.Chiang Mai Orchid new gym reopened October 1st. New Salt water pool, sauna, Some new machines some old refurbished. 12k baht per year.

"Baywatch", thanks for your more clarified comment. As you recommend I will check Harris also. I believe Go Gym, Fitness Thailand or Harris will be the one.
I will add my own comments / review later as I check those out.
-
I can't find that thread. Could you kindly post link?
-
Thanks. That's the good start.
Fitness Thailand looks okay on their website. Anyway I Google it and someone did pretty bad review about complaining noise and rude staff. Still better I go myself and form my own opinion.
Gyms in small size I don't like. But I will go check Fitness Thailand (very near my place) and Go Gym.
Thanks.

I just moved to Chiang Mai due to Job. City is new for me and there are several things I need to get familiar.
Gym is the one of first things I'm looking for. At the moment I will stay serviced apartments at Nimmanhaemin. Also I'm looking permanent apartment / house this area.
I would be very happy Gym recommendations around Nimman area or close.
I saw Power House here but my friend didn't recommend it because of environment there and that they focus more local customers there nowadays.
I'm looking gym with proper equipment for serious training. Also they should have sauna or steam included.
Thanks.

zx10R is probably more safe for you than your CBR650f if you have problems with traction on 1st/2nd gear.
It has more power but:
"The new Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control (S-KTRC) system includes five modes for greater control than ever before, particularly aimed at improving performance on the circuit, with modes one and two intended for race/circuit use. The system is a hybrid predictive/feedback-type system, which uses Kawasaki’s proprietary dynamic modelling software, and is further refined with the latest generation Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) to provide five measured parameters and a sixth calculated by the ECU. Engine rpm, throttle position, slippage, acceleration and more are all also measured to allow the dynamic control, which allows unfavorable conditions to be predicted. Drive is controlled via the ignition and electronic throttle valves and sampled every 5 milliseconds".
