Hi
I really doubt anyone could "manipulate" the price of a stock, mainly if it is "one of the major banks" as the volume of exchange may be in the 500-1'000 Million Baht and so you would need to invest a huge quantity of money to have a significant effect on such stock price
Are you not mistaking the ATO/ATC with you "big seller" orders ?
Well market makers are in the business of manipulating markets.. they make the price go lower/higher based on their exposure and prognostications.
MMs help create an efficient market, since they profit from an inefficient market.
-
This is called a cross trade. It is not manipulation. Thai markets are a tad behind the times.
If one wantes to manipulate prices, they would do so via options

Good to read that there are branches that know how to handle foreigners.
Your report shows that you even got internet access although the officially published rules sound like you would not get as a tourist.
My experiences are quite old.
2009 Kaskorn, Pattaya, 30 day visa exempt, hotel addr, savings account with internet access, zero problems, 20 minutes.
2011
Savings account at Bankok Bank upcountry, with Non O-A visa, wife with me (blue book), home address, zero problems.
Savings account at SCB. Same same.
For both accounts I installed internet banking DIY. It's described on the websites. No postal mail needed.
Regarding internet access, after everything was completed and i was out the door i asked about online bamking.. she took me to the ATM where i authenticated. There is a menu option where you can add things. Internet banking is one of them.
The ATM made me enter phone number to verify, then it said the PIN will be mailed to my physical address.

They would care if your address was a hotel room lol
Ban pong.. an hour outside bangkok.1) Which branch?
2) what type of account?
3) what address did you use? (ie do you rent a condo or hotel address?)
Savings account i think.
Used TGF's address as they send internet banking PIN there. Dont think they would care about hotel as address.
I opened one a long time ago from a hotel but they did ask a letter from the owner/manager to prove I resided there at the time...
How would they know it is a hotel? Just put the address of the hotel and the room number..
The document the TGF had to sign asked if i was a friend socially, from work, or if we lived with each other.
It is the same form though..

What is the procedure on obtaining a car and moto driving license on a SETV?
I do not own a license in any jurisdiction.

Today I opened a Bangkok bank account on a tourist visa. I had to bring a Thai with me who had to fill out a one page form saying they know me.
The only ID I had was a passport.
I am not American, but it appears there is significantly more paperwork and perhaps other requirment if you are.
The whole process took 10 minutes.

Where elsewhere can agents be used? I find them extremely convenient

If you only need 2,000,000 THB, do a reverse mortgage on any property you own to extract any equity..
The legal fees, and time wasted doing due dilgence is not worth it for such a little amount.
-
The site you linked allows you to gamble on price movements using CFDs. This doesn't make you a shareholder.. you have no ownership or right to dividends or to vote.
I assume this would be deemed the same as playing poker in a legal sense in Thailand.

What company? If its large, there is likely an ADR which trades in New York. If so, most brokers here can assist you.

How is a board member not performing work, thus not needing a work permit?
Board members have the most important job in a corporation and are surely considered workig..

Fair enough. But why is penang/vietanne more 'friendly'
Are the consulates run like businesses in that they compete for visa fees?
-
Why would penang have different requirments than somewhere else?
Are the consulates acting like businesses, and compete against other consulates to attract more customers?

My TGF studied abroad and speaks fluent English. She wants to teach me Thai but she doesn't know how to teach.
Any suggestions? Is there a curriculum or a text book she should be using to assist her?

What happens if immigration denies entry? Does the airline you flew in on, pay to fly you back where you came from?
-
Perhaps just relax.. it is only 25 minutes whereas it probably took you 10 to write this message

A government completely lacking in talent, creativity, and competence, will always resort to taxes, as a solution to nearly any problem.
Taxation is an extremely effective way to reduce demand for what are believed to be harmful products.
People will consume less.
The only issue appears with the vices as increased taxation creates or proliferates a blackmarket economy.
I doubt people are going to be making batches of cola in their bathtubs.
-
Manufacturers could care less. Like everything else, increased cost will be passed on to consumer.
Obviously sales will decrease as demand will decrease as is the case with any significant tax hike.
This ia bad news for the corporations without question.

Do you realize tell people about a safe, high yielding investment will entice people to buy, increasing the value of it?
Makes no sense to keep what you own a secret..

Where is this complex in development located?

No airport anywhere in the world, that I have been to, is cheap. ALL are overpriced, compared to prices outside the airport. So why is this news?
I agree with you that most airports around the world overcharge. It's a fact. However in my opinion there are some airports that are less greedy. For example Hong Kong airport prices do not differ that much from the prices within the city.
Overcharge?
Airport rents, at least for restaurants, are the most expensive per square foot in the world, as there is a known quantity of passengers flowing through, which are likely hungry etc..
I have no idea why the government would complain about high prices.. perhaps lower rents??
Does the government think the restaurant WANTS to charge 300% or whatever more? Not at all.. The restaurant HAS to charge multiples more to maintain a proper profit margin.
