  1. I was wrong to call you a twerp in my initial response but now I just see you as someone that has the attitude that HE has to be right about everything. I didn't see anything about your ALL saving lady contributing anything to clear the minefields in this country. Of all the charities you listed, how much of ALL the money collected or donated REALLY gets to the people that need it?

Don't come into the forum downing people for trying to help in what ever way they can. A little here and a little there mounts up and does make a difference. I for one, would rather see small charity programs get the money because I believe that it is closer to the group that needs it. I don't like these big organizations that have all officers in charge making the money. Of the money that does get out of these organizations, how much do you think actually get s to the people? Not much , the leaders of these poor countries take it. Even when it is food or medication, it is sold again rather than going to the people.

As far as this so intelligent statement:

"I’m pretty ###### sure that if we dug deep enough we would find out that it is somehow all George Bush's fault."

It just proves, you're an idiot. What would Bush have to do with mines in the countries you showed your great charts of. I would be willing to bet a dime to a donut, that most of the boms and mines that are in Thailand and even the other countries were put there long before Bush, (father or son) came into office.

    Wow, just Wow.

That is the first time in ALL my years that someone has defended GWB toO ME.

(cap added for Dr. P's pleasure, see he is a good teacher!)

That was better than SEX, thank you.

  2. Looks neater than the flood plain acreage.   :D

Elevation: 53 feet. Not flood plane. :D

    milldollhbarn27bt.jpg

    *nice complex eh?

Look to the right, my neighbors "horse barn" contains some valuable sperm, he wouldnt build that in a flood plane, insurance companies wouldnt let a person if they wanted to.

Hey if you're gonna tease, I am to please!

planes fly man ... and it'd be "I am TOO ......"

No, it would be "I AIM too". :D:D:D

Usually the first sign that a person has lost an argument is when they pull out the "Grahmer" :D check, but we aint havin an argument are we.

Hmmmm , what can it mean? :D

It happens a lot on this forum, if I type too fast letters are dropped, its the Javaishness of it.

But you got one right Dr. Pat Pong, I did type PLANE.

    :o at Dr. Pats Mansion!

  3. Punk is not music it's just a way of letting everybody know you're pi##ed off at the world. Oh not any more, punk has become emo now and those boys are all soft lonely abuses and sad. Very senstive bunch, neo hippies really. Yes punk is dead, and it's corpse has been sold to the highest bidder.

I'll listen to death metal all day before i even start at punk. But ok....name a couple of good punk songs that will make me change my mind. And please non of those sex pistol crap bands.  :o

Umm Mods, can we get a quote check here? This is a tough one, he did change the color. Hmmm , what would a punk rocker do? Hmmmm, probably just spit. :D

    :D

  4. I have had the service for a few years now and am happy with it.  Yes i goes down on occasion but, a lot of the problems are attributable to the International bandwith available to Thailand.  Take a look at http://www.internettrafficreport.com/main.htm  This might explain a lot.  Until recently the Asian figures were as low as 35%.

Wow, you're right Mouse, I used to visit ITR before I would play a game online just to check things out, and all I can say is wow. The asian traffic has skyrocketed.

    Also this site,

    http://scoreboard.keynote.com/scoreboard/M...Password=public

I kind of took it to extremes but some of you Sat people might want to check this sight out if you are having big trouble,

    http://www.spaceweather.com/

Sure it sound odd, but you would be amazed at what solar wind/flares do to Sats.

    http://www.sec.noaa.gov/SWN/

if you click on the SOLAR WIND java app you can get real time speed. Go there some time when there is an X or M class flare, it will be pegged.

If there are X class flares they actually move the Sat's and other devices like cameras so they are not facing the wind. They will also tell the Astronauts in Space Station to put on suits and get in a special compartment.

It wreaks havoc on Sat and DSL/Cable connections.

  5. We have now scientifically proved that all Americans who have read this thread are not sure how many states there are in their own country. Why did this not come as a surprise? :D

Apart from that, I think all farang who stay in Thailand for more than a year should be forced to work in the salt mines 3 days a month, while practicing gaw oei, gaw gai. :o

Thats because we dont look at America as country made up of Individual States anymore, we look at it as a Country made up of Hemispheres, the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western.

    :D

    globalstar1_small.gif

    Planet America :D:D

  6. I'd like to hear you rip it apart...or even just comment on it nicely...having a wrong idea is no reason for derision...I'll bet that you even had a wrong idea once....but I won't be able to read your response until later so go ahead and take your time and give it your best shot.

OK, first he’s (ORCHACHAI) not doing it for the promotion but because he is Buddhist. :D

And second the only part that I find "irrelevant" is the premise that,

They don't want to accumulate a 'life time supply' of aluminum very quickly because then this great promotional scheme would vanish....the longer it takes to collect the aluminum the longer the promotion lasts!!!

The promotion can last as long as they and the markets are willing to leave the collection boxes up.

The number of Landmine victims is not a static number, and there are thousands who don’t have artificial limbs so the "idea" that they would ever have their "life time supply" need met is .......I’m sorry I can’t find the write word.

Not to mention the fact that if they were to somehow meet this "lifetime supply" need they could certainly SELL the unused aluminum.

Your heart is in the right place, and so is the campaigns, but it could be improved, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was monetary motive for not "giving" all the aluminum to the charity. But I don’t know a lot about Thailand’s waste management system, who owns it, who owns the recycle centers, etc etc. That’s just the conspiracy cynic side of me rearing its ugly head.

I’m pretty ###### sure that if we dug deep enough we would find out that it is somehow all George Bush's fault. :o:D

  7. Keep up the flaming. Go for it hero.

You're the one stalking me. :D

You asked a question, I answered it.

And if you're talking about the goo goo gooogly eyes to the above post I actually was biting my tongue.

Would you like me to have ripped that "marketing scheme/hypothesis" apart?

No, so I didnt, but it is , just forget it, I bite lip. :o

  8. Looks neater than the flood plain acreage.   :D

  9. Ummmm English is the Universal Language, you're just bitter that its not BBC English. biggrin.gif wink.gif

I'm not bitter about it. It certainly isn't CNN English :o

English is not a requirement for a Thai postal worker.

What do you call them - postpersons?

Do you think you don't need to learn the language of the country you are in?

Wait a minute, what country are you in?

Do the postpersons in your country speak the language of it's tourists or are the tourists expected to speak American?

Relax, sheesh it was a Joke. Its an old joke.

    ###### for living in the land of lax some of the people here sure are serious.

  10. This clown isn't new rich, he is a  TROLL.  Numbered days.

    :D ?

Have you hacked my financial statements?

Obviously you havent, because you wouldnt say that. :D

Are you trying to pick a fight? I dont want to fight.

    montchanin22tn.jpg

Pic taken across the street, years ago. :D

I havent lied once on this forum, its more fun to be honest. :D

Is this the era when you went unemployed every two years ?

I think your the daily A, B, C drills have affected your ability to comprehend.

Oh yeah, to answer your question you will again have to put on your thinking cap and read the post I made again,

In 5 years I went from Job hopping every 2 yrs to being able to build a custom home on a private lake.

I never said I was unemployed, in fact I usually jumped jobs because a competitor recruited me. Say going from print, to radio, to TV. :D:o

Yes there were also times when I changed jobs because I had become bored, unchallanged, but 80% of the time it was a move upward, not horizontal.

Maybe you should read a good book, might help blow the cobwebs off. :D

  11. How many Thais know their own history ? they cannot even name the countries bordering their own. smile.gif

Don't you mean "geography"? Just because it is important for you to know all the 75 states of America and where they all are, doesn't mean everyone should study it.

I think it is a good idea - if you want a visa, pass a simple language test - why are so many people so against learning the language of the country they live and work/retire in? I was in the Post Office yesterday and was embarrassed as one old guy was speaking English to the guy serving him, and I had to translate. Whay would you think if a Thai guy started speaking Thai only to someone working in the post office in your home country?I say he shouldn't get a UK visa if he can't speak English. Tourist, OK - 2 weeks max. At least the Thai in Britain learn the language.

This guy in the Post-Office has been in Thailand for 9 years, retired - what the fick has he been doing - too busy to learn "I want to buy a postal order to give to the American Embassy"

If you don't know the word for 'American Embassy' in Thai do you think you should be allowed into the country? - it's embarassing and shouldn't be allowed :D

I have a friend who has been in Thailand for 30 years and was second in command in the bloody American Embassy, and guess what - he can't even say it!!

Ummmm English is the Universal Language, you're just bitter that its not BBC English. :D:o

  12. Wow, thats funny,  well you have fun then.  You should be able to get a limb paid for in about 10 years.

Dont worry, a rich farang will come in and save the day, in ONE day. :D

Actually it is my belief that collecting the tabs is not being promoted to save money on the aluminum....the amount of aluminum used is relatively insignificant in the overall expense of the program. They do this for the promotion value...promotion for the charity, the company which sells the product in the aluminum cans, the stores that collect the tabs, and for general recycling. They don't want to accumulate a 'life time supply' of aluminum very quickly because then this great promotional scheme would vanish....the longer it takes to collect the aluminum the longer the promotion lasts!!! I think its brilliant...so don't anyone donate too much too soon...but on the other hand if there is any surplus aluminum above the amount they need for making limbs then they can sell it!!!

    :o:D

  13. Show us the bucks then. When will we see a practical demonstration of largesse ?  :D

Wow, looks like the good Dr. has been playing with the Thesaurus again :D

OK, (you should know better by now)

So tell me, what has THAIVISA done for charity? (im not saying they havent done anything, but it would make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to here the heroic tales of Dr. Pat Pong. :o

  14. Not so long ago in London a policeman put, I think, seven bullets into a guy on a tube train. The Met. Chief of Police appeared on the television saying that the man was being followed from a house under surveillence by the anti-terrorist forces, was behaving suspiciously, when challenged leapt a barrier and ran for the train and failed to heed a warning to stop. So, the officer told the whole British nation, he was shot in order to prevent him from detonating a bomb.

In fact, we all learned later, the man walked normally from his flat to the train, walked normally through the ticket barrier, got on the train and sat down. Then a man in civilian clothes got onto the train, looked at the man in question and shouted to someone on the platform, 'That's him'. The person on the platform boarded the train approached the poor guy who stood up, probably wondering why two men in ordinary clothes were approaching him so aggressively. A gun was pointed at him, he was shot, fell to the floor and had a few more rounds pumped into him for good measure. He had absolutely nothing to do with terrorism.

Now, I'm not saying that something similar happened to the man on the plane, but let's wait a day or two before we make up our minds.

I was, and I think almost everyone was pretty shocked that Scotland Yard lied about almost every detail.

This is different, there have been plenty of witness confirming the guy ran off the plane with his back pack.

Its sad, but if you run off a plane or on to a plane and are told to drop it by Martials with guns you will be shot if you dont stop and drop.

    Bi-polar or not.

Im sure if you are a loved one are on a plane you would not want them to set up an appointment with the SHOE BOMBER to determine his "psychological" status before taking action.

Theres tons of signage at the airports that say just JOKING about it will subject you to arrest. If anyone besides the man himself is to blame his wife is.

You should probably start with BLACK FLAG. :D

  16. I think good idea of course to keep the card in sight, which I do, but of course they can still take the main number and the three digit number and scam you anyway, especially if they have a friend working at the other shop.  The main number will be in the till with the rest of the receipts and they just take it down later when you have gone.  Only need to memorise the three digit number.

You should scratch that number off to prevent internet purchases and wire transfers. Just make sure you memorize it or store it somwhere safe.

At "most" :o sites they recquire that, they certainly do for wire transfers.

You shouldnt need it at any merchants because its all on the magnetic strip.

  17. world is flat by T. Friedman, just finished it again, 2nd read.

    Give it a read.

I like most of Thomas Friedmans books, excellent Xmas present.

What Friedman means by "flat" is "connected": the lowering of trade and political barriers and the exponential technical advances of the digital revolution have made it possible to do business, or almost anything else, instantaneously with billions of other people across the planet. This in itself should not be news to anyone.

But the news that Friedman has to deliver is that just when we stopped paying attention to these developments--when the dot-com bust turned interest away from the business and technology pages and when 9/11 and the Iraq War turned all eyes toward the Middle East--is when they actually began to accelerate. Globalization 3.0, as he calls it, is driven not by major corporations or giant trade organizations like the World Bank, but by individuals: desktop freelancers and innovative startups all over the world (but especially in India and China) who can compete--and win--not just for low-wage manufacturing and information labor but, increasingly, for the highest-end research and design work as well. (He doesn't forget the "mutant supply chains" like Al-Qaeda that let the small act big in more destructive ways.) Friedman tells his eye-opening story with the catchy slogans and globe-hopping anecdotes that readers of his earlier books and his New York Times columns will know well, and also with a stern sort of optimism. He wants to tell you how exciting this new world is, but he also wants you to know you're going to be trampled if you don't keep up with it. His book is an excellent place to begin. --Tom Nissley
