The last place I'd want to be with an opportunistic, virulent disease is on a cramped airplane. On a long flight all it takes is one carrier and everyone who uses the bathroom is potentially infected. (as if plane toilets weren't already nasty enough on long flights)

unless it was an family emergency imo you would have to be a total fool to fly now. I believe this virus especially effects areas of the brain where common sense originates..

Maybe the Police should vist the ground floor of Hua Hin Market Village and arrest the old farang who hangs around there near the entrance and does not wear a mask.

I've noticed daily foreigners not caring for anyone but themselves. If there was an efficient way of having them arrested and fined I'd phone in a heartbeat. My wife works in that mall and she says there are daily discussions among the workers of these morons and the hazards they pose to every one  there (and also to their families), the retailers warning each other when these cretins appear half masked and fully stupid.

Australians are who they are, but they are not a race of people and neither are us ‘Pomes’... smart or otherwise.

While Australians may slur the British by calling us Pomes along with some negative adjective.., it may be prejudice, discriminatory, xenophobic or nationalistic.... but really... its just a bit of banter and if we Brits can’t take a bit of that from some Aussies then we need harden up a little...

Let me see if I have this correct. I am 76 with a heart condition so I can get a free vaccine shot at Ban Sue Grand Central Station in Bangkok. The big problem that I see with this is that I have to leave the safety of my North-Eastern Province and travel to Covid infested Bangkok on a bus that is not running, on a train that is not running, on a plane that is not flying or by car trying to get through the check points without any inoculation papers and then what happens when I return to my home province from a "Dark Red" province? I think I will wait here for the vaccine to come to my province.

imo the prudent course. There's no way I would go through all that as your exposure level is tremendous and your attained protection is probably at least 3 weeks after your 2nd dose. You probably have a good chance of dying to get a shot. A fools journey all around. I'm registered locally, when they get to me they get to me. Meanwhile I still see unmasked or half masked  moronic foreigners bouncing around stores here lol...

He would get the notifications at all hours, he helps me a lot but pretty sure he'd not be happy ????

you said you use them for online purchases (same as I) I have no problem coordinating on skype with a relative (when it's convenient for them of course) to input codes on my bank website. I'm just doing a little planning with my online purchases negating the need to buy anything just to receive a code. I've had to do this for 2 years now which reassures me when transacting somewhat in this scammy world we live in, I'm surprised your institution is just getting to this now..

Beyond loss of face of small egos when you assault somebody they can die. Even from a single punch,or falling and hitting the head. Consequences? I have been, when in the US rethinking the carry issue because of dogs mostly. There is a right of self defense there at least.  I myself before a vicious animal or armed criminal.  Would aim for the center of mass.

small ego or large, loss of face is serious business here and everywhere. In the states it's called 'dissing' but basically it amounts to the same thing - people believing they've been disrespected..

Anyone who’s been here any length of time can recognise the difference....

Some people would have just let the thief return to rob them more....

I guess had he reported it to the police half of you guys would be suggesting theif would retaliate for the Op ‘grassing him up’....  !!!

Whatever is posted... such responders (posters replying) will always find holes in the actions of whatever an Op posts.

    and especially with this bs

The OP seems like a decent guy usually I would think people who have been jailed in 3 countries should be barred entry to Thailand. He does have a conscience, and feels remorse. Some people cannot control their violent impulses and need therapy or self-help to improve.

Now, OP has laid in wait.  He committed a violent assault. He didn't get his money back, nor protect himself.

Just because someone "broke into your shop" just doesn't justify violence. Any schoolboy knows two wrongs doesn't make a right. How many more antisocial or criminal acts has the OP committed since being allowed into Thailand? Time for Thailand to demand criminal background checks for all visa types and entries.

I agree, too many countries allow their criminals to travel easily (even when being sought). Many countries, I believe, would rather they become a problem somewhere else.

I was actually thinking of British people considering returning home or staying in Thailand. The rise in Covid cases is arising as the UK comes out of lockdown but serious illnesses, fatalities and hospitalization does not seem to match. There self isolation issue seems to be generated by the mis calibrated NHS app. However, in the UK there seems a sense of hope, a sense of a future, a sense that some progress has been made. Here in Thailand it appears people are just waiting to get sick or get arrested with inadequate medical care, no vaccine except for rich and foreigners, no welfare support scheme just worry and bitterness. I can see why the UK might seem a better option for people considering returning. There can be no reason to be in Thailand now. Joylous, autocratic, inefficient and frightening...Utterly devoid of charm and it won't change for years no matter what bonkers schemes the out of touch elite propose.

    as before, no thanks..
