  1. Hi All,,has anyone in TV land done an extension of Non OA(based on retirement) visa at Nakhon Sri Thammarat immigration recently???

Have already used the maximum period(nearly 2 years) and this will be my first extension.

What are the requirements at the above imm office. After my last experience here with 90reports etc.am

extremely uncertain with the operation of this place.

I am Australian and will applying on the basis of some funds in thai bank account and income letter from my countries

    embassy.All requirements would be helpful.

In addition what is the process for getting income letter from Australian embassy.

Look forward to hearing the latest.

    Cheers

  2. Thanks for the reply UJ,,with respect is the TM30 the responsibility of the property owner or visa holder??

I get the requirement for TM28 and i should have known that.

The IO did not mention specifically TM30 or TM28 just said i needed to report personally to immigration

    within 2 days of re-entry to the country.With my upcoming re-entry permit(prob dep.Feb come back March17)

he insisted that i report to imm upon my return next time.

I guess we just chalk it up to mis- communication on both sides.

Also, is it a requirement to photocopy every single page of your passport for any official documents??

IO insisted on a copy of every page(20 in all) for CofR.

Only wish you were there to witness the goings on.Arrive 9.30am dep 4pm.

    thanks

  3. Howdy All,, visit to Nakhon Sri immigration yesterday primarily to obtain cert.of residency for registering new motorcycle.

Wow was i in for a shock......

So i am in my second year of Non OA visa(retirement)issued in Australia, also wanted to obtain a re-entry permit for travel early next year.

When i approached the IO and presented all my papers,he looked through my passport and stated to me"why have you not

reported your residence when you returned to the country on 14th.November"(2016).

FYI: i left back to my country for 5 months and just returned,,when i left i was well within my next 90report period.Returned to

the same town, but changed place of residence.(within NakhonSri province)

Correct me if i am wrong,,as i understand it, if you leave the country the 90day report just cancels out and when you

return your address is put on your immigration arrival card at the airport,,then you do your report 90days after that.

NOT according to the IO you have to report your residence within 2days of arrival personally at the immigration office.

I must admit i was shocked and there were many other farang that day being told the same thing.

IO informed me this was the "law" but in my nearly 10year stay here i have never had to do this before.

Always do 90day report within that time after arrival back into the country.

So there you are....be warned.....none of my requirements for cert.etc were processed until this was sorted out.

The issue is not so much the requirement to do this BUT IT IS NOT communicated anywhere(imm.website,or others)

Hope this may help other members.

  4. Hi All,, this is probably one for Ubonjoe.Have just purchased a new motorcycle and completed all paperwork at the shop to initiate registration.

Part of that process it is required i go to immigration office for some kind of approval or guarantee of some sort.Assume its a similar thing as needed

    for getting Thai drivers licence.

My question is what are the legal  requirements for obtaining this document ie: rental agreement, photos, passport etc.etc.

I dont want to get there and find i'm sent away due to incomplete documents.

What are the actual regulations for a foreigner to own and register a vehicle(i have heard stories you need a work permit,,as i am on a Non OA retirement visa

This is impossible as you are forbidden from working)

I reside in Nahkon Sri Thammarat province.

    cheers

  5. Thanks guys for info so far.......I have done the in-out on the original visa and received additional

one year stay. The end of my granted one year stay is due to expire in April 2017 requiring

    application for another 1 year.

However,,my question was directed specifically to Nahkon Sri where i have to apply due to residence,

there are overall rules i know but many IO's enforce different interpretations to those rules..

    cheers

  6. Does anyone in TV land have experience of the current up to date requirements needed for extension of stay on a Non Imm O-A visa(retirement),

    especially at Nahkon SriThammarat immigration.

That would be requirements other than the 800,000 thb in the bank account.

If you are on monthly income sourced from overseas via superannuation etc and need verification of same.

Understand you need to obtain income statement from your own embassy.

Is there anything else required that I'm not aware of.

    Thanks

  7. Hi All,,,this is a 2 part question hopefully someone can update with the latest information.......

Will be applying for an extension of stay based on retirement at Immigration NakonsriThammarat,,

currently have an O-A multiple entry issued from Australia.

1/ what are the current requirements at NST(exlc.800,000thb in bank)regarding income statement.

ie:will they accept copies of home country bank statements or only embassy letter etc.?

2/ Australian Embassy BKK inform me they only do notarial services, witness signature of a statutory declaration

made by you.It is not an official embassy letter as such.

So will this type of document be accepted by Thai immigration?esp.NST.

Have already discussed with NST IO and it was not totally clear to me specifically what they need,,just a vague

    reference to an embassy letter,,,

Has anyone on TV had recent personal experience with this process?

    Many thanks.

  8. Heya,,not sure about the North but can advise about the South.....certainly appears in the thai/malay checkpoints they are scrutinizing farang re-entry,,

particularly tourist visas,,but is different at every place.

A couple of months ago my aussie friend went to Sadao border and even had a current non-o visa and was told by IMO you cannot return the same day

you have to stay in Malaysia.Admittedly he had a lot of stamps in his passport but he was shocked,,,never happened before.

Stayed the night and came back next day entered Thailand and stamped in no problems.

I personally have not had any issues but i do have a Non-o multiple entry visa.

You will probably find in reality all border checkpoints or there "interpretation of the rules can vary greatly"

Good Luck,,,,,,,at worst you might have to stay a bit.

  9. Heya,,,you are obviously on koh phangan,,Mr.Kim i can personally recommend..when i lived there used his services many many times.

His information is always up to date,,providing you give him the right information ie:what visa you want/have or just a in-out stamp etc.

There is definitely NO consulate or embassy at Khuan Don,,it is purely a border post for exit and re-entry to Thailand.

It is probably the prettiest and best border post with Malaysia,,,surrounded by mountains in the thai/malay national parks

If you need a new visa Penang probably the best option.

    Cheers.

  10. this experience may help with obtaining the METV.....

when applying for my O_A multiple entry 1 year visa(based on retirement) in Australia the financial requirements are very similar.

    I supplied embassy:1/ thai bankbook(bal.about 150k baht)plus copies of bank statements

2/ copies of my Australian bank statements showing rental income(signed by bank)

3/ copy annual statement of my superannuation fund(showing monthly withdrawl)

Obtained the visa with no problems.

I guess the critical thing is they just want you to prove you have the resources to be fully supported when here.

So you can probably have many different ways to demonstrate you have the resources,,not just money in the bank...

Interesting to see how it all goes in the real world though.

    Good Luck everyone....

    Gota love LOS

  11. I was recently advised by Nakhon Sri immigration that yes if you exit and re-enter before your visa expires you are entitled to a

further 12 months stay, provided you have a multiple entry visa originally.

However,as suggested by other posters road borders can be a real lottery sometimes.

Maybe better to get a cheap flight somewhere as airports should be no problem at all.

    Just a suggestion.

    cheers

  12. Howdy,,think i can help you.....why make it so complicated???

I am from Melbourne and this is what i did just earlier this year.

Thai embassy in Melbourne do not issue Non OA visas, you have to apply to thai consulate in Canberra.

You can do this by mail and takes approx 2 weeks or so.

When the visa is issued it has an expiry date 12 months after this ie:issued 4/11/2015 expires 4/11/2016.

When you actually enter thailand is when your time starts ie:say you enter 1/12/2015 immigration will stamp you in

for around 1/12/2016(sometime they take a couple of days off for whatever).

You DO NOT have to do border runs but you must report to your local immigration office every 90days.

Not only that nakhon sri tammarat office just advised me that if leave thailand and re-enter before your visa expires

they will give you another 1 year stamp in.ie:as above if you say left thailand October 2016 for a week or two and came back

before expiry on 4/11/2016 you will be stamped in for another 12 months.

There is no extension application needed at this point in time,,provided you have a multiple entry visa in the first place.

Basically you can get nearly 2 years out of 1 visa then after that apply for extensions.

Once the hassle getting the first one your home free!!!

    cheers

  13. Hello Chris,,,i had the following experience about 2 years ago after losing my passport...i am aussie(won't go into how as we are not here to judge)

First thing i did was go to aussie embassy in bkk and applied for new passport(think it was going to take 4 weeks or something).

They advised if i wanted to leave thailand right away they could issue me with a temporary document to get me out.

Wanted to stay,so waited for new passport to arrive.

The next was to go to thai immigration in chang wattana to sort out my visa.Luckily i had a photocopy of my "lost" passport as well as

copy of arrival card and visa to show them.I had a non-imm double entry visa with about 4 months left on it.

While the officer was reasonably helpful he stated the following:

the visa you had was in your lost passport therefore it is now gone and cannot be replaced.

As well i was overstay by 8 days and they fined me for that.

immigration issued me only a 7day visa after i pleaded for 30 days.

probably lucky you only washed yours at least you still have your visa.

    anyway good luck with everything

    cheers

  14. Hi to All,,firstly can anyone advise procedure for 1 year extension of stay....i currently have a valid retirement visa expires May2016..

can this be done inside Thailand??and locations.

Regarding vehicle ownership,,i have been told to officially own a vehicle in my name,,you have to have a work permit.......this is a big

anomaly in immigration law.....as the holder of a retirement visa it is prohibited to work,,,,therefore as a retiree one cannot own a vehicle...

Is there anyway of raising this issue with the thai government,,,as it doesn't make any sense.....i continue to have faith in thai,,as we are

    living here.

    cheers
