Hi
I live in Bangkok
My British license has expired. I only have a Thai license
I wish to go to UK and Ireland for a holiday and may also visit USA.
I guess I need an International Drivers License (grey book) is that correct? How can I get one, and where, In Bangkok. Thank you so much
I used my Thai driver's license in the US for several months last year before getting my US license renewed with no problem. No problem renting cars with it.

I totally agree with the OP. Vaping is the new plague. After having gotten rid of second hand smoke we now have to fight a (uphill I am afraid) battle against these vapes. And yes, vaping inside is totally anti-social and inconsiderate.
And illegal in Thailand!

It depends on what kind of visa you want/need. Marriage (and, I believe, retirement) visas are not issued anywhere in the United States.
It seems that as rules and regulations change in Thailand, this is not communicated to the consulates or is misinterpreted.
If you are a U.S. citizen, come into the country without a visa. You will be issued a 30-stay visia. If you want another kind of visa, begin the process immediately.
When I first came to Thailand in 2011, I was going to apply for a retirement visa in the U.S., before I left. After lots of calls to the embassy in Washington D.C., no one could answer any questions. Finally, I saw and ad for Siam Legal and sent them an email. They confirmed that you can't do a retirement visa in a foreign country. They secured a 90 business visa for me, and helped me with the retirement visa once I got to Chiang Mai. I believe their bill was just under $5,000. Help with visas has gone up, but the process at immigration has improved considerably.
Good luck
Is this an advertisement for Siam Legal or did you really get taken for a ride?
I got my retirement visa from the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. in July, 2011. I believe the fee was somewhere around $200. Very simple, no problems

In my opinion, due to the lack of consistency in water supplies here, brass is the better option. We have well water, and even with the water treatment system, it plays havoc with anything metal. Even stainless rusts, which brass will not.

WHY do the banks and car companies let them get into so much debt?? And all Thais??
Because the banks and car companies just care about making money! When my niece graduated from the university a few years ago, and having no credit history whatsoever, her bank issued her a credit card with a credit limit of 3 times her yearly salary. Go figure!

Why does the RTP insist on announcing their every move?

Was this a rhetorical question?
Until they start enforcing laws and putting some "bite" into the oenalties, nothing will change!

Good Topic.
I have, for many years, been looking here for CLOROX BLEACH, at a cheap price, just like it is available in North America.
For some reason the Haier Stuff is priced above my means.
What is really inside the pink bottle, I do not know.
I guess it is bleach, but not sure.
You can find CLOROX on Lazada, but its not really cheap. 165 baht for a 2 liter bottle.

Don't know why BOA doesn't send your credit cards. I have both my Thai and US adresses listed on my account with the Thai address as my primary. They send my new debit and credit cards directly here to me. In fact, I just received my new credit card last week.

The same article states: "It comes after the governemnt [sic] introduced a series of relaxations on booze sales. In 2022, it lifted a five-decade-long ban on alcoholic beverage sales in the afternoon between 2 and 5pm."
When did this happen?

Believe it or not! According to the Land Traffic Act, it is illegal for a taxi driver to play his car radio when he has passengers.

@Sheryl, for those on a tight budget, is ritalin available at all from public hospitals?
Also, any insights into visa status required? (Example, can you fly in on a visa exempt for a long weekend to stock up if you don't have a previous relationship with the hospital?)
Thanks
My step son(Thai)gets his Ritalin from Khon Kaen hospital. So, yes, it is available at government hospitals. From my experience, medications are cheaper at government hospitals than at private hospitals. The downside is the long waits. The evening outpatient clinics at the government hospitals are an option. A little more expensive but much less waiting and still cheaper than private hospitals.

Not sure where you're getting your info. I know its been a while( 17 years or so), but when I filed the K-1 for my fiancee(now wife), I was retired and my only income was my pension. Had no problems.

Many laws in Thailand are passed without thorough discussion and therefore they often do not realize the ramifications. The anti money laundering laws are no exception. I go through the same thing making my monthly car payment which is in wife's name. Never had a problem using my driver's license as ID. Not a big deal. Just go with the flow.
