You're still basking on the economic benefits of still being in the EU set up; like an oil tanker, an economy doesn't turn on a sixpence, and certainly not in 2 months. You're referring to the strength of the economy as an EU member, not as a country that is outside of the EU.

We're still in the EU, we haven't left yet. Since 1973 when we joined the UK has been the fastest growth major economy in Europe, between 1950 and 1972 it was the slowest. So we may actually be reverting back to our 1950 performance, we just don't know until we are out and we are clear on the terms of trade with the EU. They just don't mention these things in the The Sun and the Daily Mail.

What the German is saying is that there is no incentive to negotiate a good deal with the UK, in other words, there is an incentive to negotiate a bad one! So the uncertainty and constant leaks when the negotiations get underway after Article 50 is triggered will create even more instability ... not great for inward investment and you will likely see EU headquarters of multinationals and banks transfer to mainland Europe. They want free trade with 500 million plus people, not 60 million. Domestic firms will be more cautious also, not good for employment. And immigration continues unabated, so more people competing for fewer jobs.

But not to worry, we have Boris, Liam and David bumbling along completely clueless as to what it takes to build trade deals ... they are busy fighting amongst themselves ... fiddling as Rome burns!

What a mess! The funny part is that it is self-inflicted. And idiots gloat at this great victory! Hooray ... let's build some warships and retake the Empire ... for England and St George!

    Great post. 100% correct.

The German vice chancellor is choking on his sour grapes. Remember they warned the UK would have financial crisis if it chose to Brexit? Well, since we decided to Brexit the British economy is going great guns, strong growth on all fronts - increased consumer demand, job creation, less borrowing, higher FTSE. It's all good. Meanwhile the German economy has weakened since Brexit - with no hope for any recovery.

Brexit is the gift that never stops giving. Every moan and whine only increases the pleasurable bask in the sun that is post Brexit Britain. Hooray.

And sterling continues it's downwards path. You think this is a success?

I will say this and probably be damned by many for saying it, but it was only the old and the poorly educated that swung the vote for Brexit.

All based on immigration and lies about the money we save from not being part of the EU .going into the NHS

They were conned, but having said that Osbourne and Cameron did not help matters by scaremongering.

I know this has all been said before...it's just my rant OK.

100% correct TP.  I doubt that many will disagree with that.

The country is down the toilet because of ignorant old codgers and racists

  4. I think it was mentioned on another topic but as a heads up to others that dont know is that if you use SWIFT transfer with Nationwide, UK , you will be charged by three banks, Nationwide, the beneficiary bank and a third party which is likely to be HSBC.

While Nationwide don't exactly hide this information, its certainly not displayed on their website as an additional charge that needs to be added or mentioned at all when verbally speaking to one of their staff

Yep. £20 by Nationwide and £30 by all and sundry. £50 in total.

I will never SWIFT from them again.

  5. Why would anyone want one?

    Beyond me. bah.gif

I understand what you are saying, but there are people that you can put into groups, those that like guns and those that don't. From your response I would think that you have never fired a gun or had any fun with them, everyone is different, I personally like guns, bows etc. have no interest in knives.

It is something to do with getting the skill to be able to hit something from a distance and being disconnected.

That is why knives have never held any interest for me, that is simply a destructive act. A gun or a bow requires a bit of skill, it has nothing to do with violence.

Never felt the need to fire a gun, crossbow , catapult or any other disgusting weapon.

I guess I am not sick

    EDIT.

I guess if it is at an inanimate target of some kind it would be ok.

  6. Bought my Wife a bottle of that the other week in Big C

Very small bottle and disgustingly sweet. 4.5% but tasted dreadful.

    Typical sweet Thai crap.

I can't believe that you UK version tastes anything like that.

  7. So it looks like the new flat rate state pension will have a starting point of £155.60.

As said before, not all will get that much and some will get more.

Clear as mud. Simple and fair. rolleyes.gif

You think that's fair?? Example, someone born in say 1946, starts work in 1962, retires on a state pension in 2011.

That person is not going to get 155.50 GBP per week, in April 2016, even if he has paid all his NI contributions.

Unless of course I have missed something.

Agree. For a lot of people it is not fair.

A lot will be losing out.

All a bit of a shambles.
