  2. Land for sale on way to Nong Nalee near junction going to hospital. Around 5000 baht/sq wah. Has concrete road and views to mountains. Plots are around 100 - 150 sq wah. I believe there is a large one of approx 3 rai. If interested pm me for tel number.

  3. They didn't foresee that since 2008 foreigners can easily be added to a household registration book and under the regulation than you were entitled to free healthcare if you were on a household registration book. That situation has now been rectified and being on a yellow tabien baan does no longer qualify you for free medical care.

Some amphurs and hospitals seem not to be aware of this change and still issue a card, but that is not according regulations. Old cases, before the rule change seem to have been grandfathered.

It was after the coup and around 2008 they changed the system and I believe that "gold cards" are no longer issued. As far as I know no-one after that date in or around 2008 will be registered by the Amphur who issued the respective Yellow Tabein Bann to recieve free treatment. I can confirm that gold cards are no longer issued as I do not have one but am in their system for free healthcare, and as I said previously I was registered by them before the change. So anyone getting a new yellow book for the first time will have dipped out.

  4. BB Yes Terry is quite right however you must both be talking about a different scheme then. I did not register at any hospital, I was registered by the office who gave me my tabien bann in Banglamung with the same number that is in my yellow book. I only found out I had been registered when I went to the local hospital in Phetchabun who then told me the above. When I enquired about transfering to them they told me I could no longer change hospitals as the scheme had now ceased but as I said before would still be entitled to emergency cover there, and routine in Banglamung.

Strange how 2 hospitals in 2 separate provinces are wrong and some high ranking official is right, as in my experince most high ranking officials in most places of work havn't got a clue and rely on the lower level staff to get things done. They always misinterpret rules in all departments so I fear your expert is wrong also. All the expats who I have spoken to in Phetchabun are receiving free treatment in the local hospital who hold yellow books there. There was no loophole to close they simply ended new enrolment into the system.

Meant to add, I think I probably got registered as I was not working in Thailand which was another option for poor people. In any case if not free then will have to pay the 30 baht, so be it.

  6. I am in the system but I believe it has now ceased for new enrolment. I am married to a thai and have yellow tabien bann. I was originally in yellow book in Pattaya but moved house in 2010 to Phetchabun. Because I moved house after they stopped this and I did not register in my local hospital at that time. I am now only entitled to emergency treatment in Phetchabun where I now live, but am entitled to free routine treatment in Pattaya (strange but true). This has been confirmed by both Phetchabun and Pattaya hospitals. As for above posts no-one slipped through the net as it was a right but has now ceased for new entrants. I have seen my details on hospital computer and have print out of same details. I could not get a "Gold Card" as it has now stopped but as said was already automatically registered for healthcare. If you have a yellow tabien bann is worth asking in the area where you first received the yellow book as you may well be registered there and it is up to you to transfer you details to new location, but will probably be like myself and have 2 areas for treatment.

  7. Only need 1 spark plug for a single pot engine. The exhaust on the drawing appears to have a cover below it giving it a look of a 2 stroke exhaust. There are numerous websites suggesting this will be produced next year : http://caberz.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/yamaha-rd-350/, so hopefully the sceptics amongst you will be proven wrong as Its good to see the Thai bike market improving. Whether it does arrive here or not at least new models are arriving with realistic prices rather than paying over the odds for grey imports.smile.png

  8. Anyone have anymore info on this one? The Yamaha RD 350 was always known for the shear power its 2 stroke engine was able to harness. But Yamaha seems to have disappointed the RD lovers by replacing the 2 stroke engine with a 4 stroke liquid cooled engine. It is expected to deliver maximum power of something around the 40 BHp mark.

There has not been any official announcements thatI can find regarding the RD 350's price, but it is expected to be priced competitivlypost-24920-0-78346000-1352903052_thumb.jpost-24920-0-25342100-1352903075_thumb.j to the Honda CBR and the Kawazaki Ninja.

  9. It was around 40C for a few days last year and as for cold well maybe if you are Thai you might feel cold never much below 25C. As for the traffic it is very light compared to other areas in Thailand. I live near Petchabun town itself so maybe others are talking about elsewhere in the Province. A new university has just been built and another private school is being extended for older children so possibilities for teaching. Renting a 3 bedroom house is possible for around 5000 Baht per month. Many restaurants and bars some with live music and 2 nightclubs with live music in the 2 local hotels.

  10. My wife came to UK with same visa and no recourse to public funds. However she applied for a National Insurance Number so that she could work. She worked for 2 years and then had our child. She received Maternity Pay from her work and then once that stopped from DWP. She has a single claim for child benefit in her name which then entitles her to Pension Credits as she is looking after the child. We also received Working tax Credit and Child Tax Credit which are both Joint claims. Important if you have not already done so is to get her a National Insurance Number so that she can build up a state pension through claiming Child Benefit which must be in her name, unless of course you are not working and short on your build up for a state pension.

You do not have recourse to public funds until you are eligible.

  11. Burapha Hotel on main highway 21 in Phetchabun is only 500 - 600 baht per room and is very comfortable for the price. The Kosit Hill Hotel is good but I dont think really worth paying the extra for unless you use the swimming pool. Burapha has a niteclub with live music and cheap drinks, it also has a massage room. Just around the corner from it is the country pub which is a nice small bar which has live music i think at weekends. You can get directions to the second bus station which has numerous restaurants and bars to keep your thirst quenched. There is a niteclub just up from Burapha hotel called Oasis which is ok and Kosit Hill Hotel has niteclub behind it also.

If you can find the Izusu showroom opposite KFC then go towards traffic lights right side of KFC you will find a coffee shop where many expats from UK ,Aus drink during the day as it closes around 6pm. Large Leo 40baht. Another drinking place during the day is near the main market but I think it is mostly german expats that drink there and some from UK.

  12. Can you just transfer in Bt480,000 a year to Thailand ?

The embassy might want to see where the funds come from.

Not drug dealing or other illegal activities.

Could a rental agreement outside Thailand be sufficient ?
Unlikely. What if you loose your tenant and cannot relet?

Not that investments in funds are as gold clad as they used to be. :o

Why not call the embassy and see what they will accept, as that gives some

clue to what has gone before.

I am struggling with a similar dilemma in another country.

They want to see a monthly income, but my money comes every 6 months. :D

I have successfully had 2 extensions based on marriage. I am under 50 and receiving a govt pension from the UK. It is taxed in the UK, not here in Thailand. I had to get my income verified by the British Embassy which was then sent to MFA in Bangkok for them to verify British Embassy paperwork, then all paperwork submitted to immigration in Jomtein. I also submitted to British Embassy a Bond Certificate which pays monthly interest which was included in my monthly total.

I do not see as to why a rental agreement would not be suffice as my bond was running out within 3 months of my extension.

The immigration officer told me that it was not necessary to transfer my money every month, but I would transfer quarterly as a minimum.

  13. exactly what is a 'pension/proof of pension letter'? Is this the document that one obtains from one's embassy to verify the income requirement for non - imm visa extensions? What exactly does the Ministry of Foreign Affairs DO to this document that is required by immigration for extension applications?...verify the embassy verification? (this would be laughable if it wasn't infuriating... :o )

I just hope that when you get to the MFA there on Chang Wattana Road you don't run into another road block.  "Could be" that MFA will say that this "requirement" is not required, the proposal was dropped a couple months back, supposedly.

    That'd be a bummer.

    Mac

As I reported in July I also had to go to Bangkok to have papers verified from Brit Embassy by MFA. However the forms are available on the MFA's website which can be used to apply by post which I did for my Tabien Baan, everything was returned within a week. I hope that what has been stated here is correct, in that it is now no longer required for "marriage visa"

  14. Them prices seem a little expensive,

Are the plots on the main 21 road?

which area of Phetchabun are you looking at?

They are off the 21, on a main road, about 20 kilometers from the Center of Phetchabun?

    The plot for 600000 is actually 1.1 Rai. (1600 m2 + 400 m2) The other .5 Rai.

Any ideas on costs for fill?

    Thanks for the response.

This is a bit sketchy from wife but she says about 300 to 400 baht per truckload of fill. Her sister's last house was on about 600m2 and she needed between 50 to 100 truckloads.

Sorry I know 50 or 100 big difference but she's not sure, can't remember. But in any case max is 40000 Baht so not too bad I guess.

Hope this is of some help.
