  1. I think this is a very relevant point you raise Khun Phibunmike.

In my experience here at TV, I have come across a similar attitude, especially toward the ILLEGAL war in Iraq & the attitude to muslims, middle easterners & arabs. This is despite a most distinct shift away in the support for the lieing, cheating governmets of the UK & US.

My theory is that those who express this "mob rule" attitude are those who's interest in Thailand is limited to sex, drugs or other illegal acts and this is represented in their views.

I find it incredibly sad that Thailand attracts this type of person....

  2. Colpyat, what stamina!

Just let it go mate, they are either too radicalised or just trolls, either case, not worth your time.

    I agree with thedude.

    Colpyat,

I admire your stance & the effort you have put in to attempting to "educate" the fat old sex tourists with their antiquated argumants & their nazi-esque ethos but why bother?

    The following idiots:

    thai3

    usatrader

    gurkle

    moqoso

are nothing more than bitter, twisted, freaks who are probably in Thailand because

    a. they are unwelcome anywhere else

    b. they are fat, ugly & repulsive & the only way they are gonna get sex is if they pay for it!

    c. they are there to continue their criminal acts, maybe even paedaphilia.

usatrader, i find you particularly vile and quite frankly, I did try to read some the entire legnth of your submission but

    IT WAS TOO ######ING BORING

no wonder you submit here - no one else takes you seriously!!!!

It's clear your ego is bigger than your brain.

  3. Actually, this is one story I would like to hear!!!

Go on Bambi - spill the beans!

if you say so .. :o

    (dont blame me then)

when i was a vet student .. Biology Class ,Sub Compare Anatomy

so we have to study about rabbit .. the guy have put 50-100 bunnies to sleep and put in in fomalin tub

but bunny is an animal who has load of fat .. when fat tissue expose O2 , it will get a smelly ..emm smelly like something i can't explain ..sort of rancid

Plus the oil from fat tissue is floating and covered formalin solution ..slippery feeling

    i dont like it :D

well...when people talk about Bunny Meat ..so it makes me recognise about that story

    Thanks bambina...

I now understand why some things are just best left to the imagination!

I would be interested to know, from knowing what yopu know from your extensive vetinary training, are there any commonly eaten animals that you would not eat ?

I love prawns, especially freshly prepared eating kung pau on thailands beautiful beaches but I do so in moderation because I heard that prawns contain high levels of cholestrol. I have now read that this is an urban myth! What do you reckon?

  4. about Bunny Curry

yes you can do it ..as

    -musmun curry

    -pa nang curry

    -wild curry ( Gaeng Pah)

    -green curry

-phad phed ( stir fried bunny with curry

and other curry as you wish ...

for me, i dont eat rabbit .. i have an bad experience about rabbit when i studied anatomy :o ... notthing about its cute.. but i wont tell much in deep info ..lol

Actually, this is one story I would like to hear!!!

Go on Bambi - spill the beans!

  5. When I was growing up 'Bunny' was certainly a delicasy. We ate rabbit a couple of times a week in all sorts of recipes.

I wonder if it would work in a Thai curry?

    hi suegha,

    Hope you're well?

Only had rabbit once or twice before so am no expert. If I remember correctly, due to some of the meat ( especially the leg meat) having a sinewy texture, Rabbit is best cooked slowly & gently for maximum tenderness.

Most thai curries are rather quick affairs - kaeng kiow wahn & kaeng see daeng take just minutes to prepare. Therefore, unless you select a thai curry that is prepared by a slow cooking method, you might need to pre-cook your rabbit meat before adding it to your curry.

Perhaps Bambina or other contributors might be kind enough to suggest some thai curries that are slow cooked?

  6. :D I am not being controversial here, but it is against the law to take things like meat products into the UK. I can remember reading that foot and mouth was probably contributed to by asians bringing goat meat and africans bringing goodness knows what.

I, on the other hand are blameless, only 2k cigs to last me the month. :o

This is one of the most inaccurate, misleading & racist statements I've heard since "the monkey in a suit" & his bitch tony "the liar" blair decided that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction were poised to destroy the west!!!!!!!

Foot and mouth in the UK & Europe has been attributed to the below standard animal feed very frequently containing bovine remains!

To suggest that foot & mouth was caused by Africans & Asians is simply ignorant & racist and tells us a lot about the poster. :D

  7. Hush,

I have never dived near Koh Tao but I hear that the diving there & at Ang Thong marine national park is excellent.

I have visited Samui in June and can confirm that although hot, the sea conditions are ideal for diving / snorkelling. Also, you will get amazing rates on accomodation as this is off season, july gets expensive again due to european school holidays.

    have fun!

  8. They declared war on us. The Thai government showed the way to deal with terrorists at Tak Bai: ZERO TOLERANCE

The sooner you stagger back to the "girlie bar" you came from the better for all concerned. Let's face it, the only interest you have in thailand is that of exploitation & cheap sex.

Can't wait for the day the Thai gov' finally "deal" with sex tourists like yourself... tak bai style!

In the meantime, who's looking after your trailer back home???

  9. Unfortuntely Jaffy's vocabulary is rather limited and it constantly shows.

Islam isn't the problem its the nutty followers who misinterpret it.

Wow, now we are getting somewhere!

Your comment above proves that you ARE able to engage your brain & your mouth at the same time - obviously quite an acheivement for you!

Being a Brit, you have obviously come into contact with many of those who follow the muslim faith - the Uk has a large Pakistani community. These people have, for decades, contributed to the success of the Uk economy. They are your postmen, shop-keepers, your doctors, your teachers, your neighbours & your friends ( I hope) and have been living in peace along side you for many many years. Yet you see these people as a sudden threat???

Doesn't take a genius to work out that it is simple minded bigots like you that spin & propoganda originating from the US & UK govs actually has the desired affect on! I think that instead of beleiving the hidden agendas of those who profit from war you should instead try to work things out once you are in possession of both sides of the story.

  10. Moslims have a religious commitment to hatred. Now I hate them.

Good for me that i'm not any Mo' slim. :o

thaipro_pattya & indo-siam have demonstrated just how stupid they are!!!!!!

Not only are they unable to differentiate between muslims & terrorists but you also beleive all the "spin" and exaggeration touted by the irresponsible us & uk governments in order to facilitate the illegal invasion of Iraq & so called war on terror.

In fact, if we talk about "barabaric actions" then lets talk about the recent report released by a group of american human rights lawyers who examined the 100 or so reported cases of ulawful deaths by means torture by us forces in Iraq.

Also, lets talk about the illegal detention of "suspected" terrorists at guantanamo? Or the proven lies peddled by the us & uk govs?

What is clear is that some people on this forum know nothing about Islam apart from what has been peddled by those with a vested interest in the destruction of a peace between the west & muslim nations.

all you dumb ass rednecks -take your filthy lies elsewhere!

  11. Hi Opothai,

Thank you for reading my submission.

I am British, though not by birth but have called the Uk home for nearly 30 years.

I copied & pasted the article in it's entirety & upon reading it again can see where you are coming from. But pls do remember the article was in response to to some of the muslim bashing that was taking place.

I would just like this opportunity to say that the majority of British people are warm, caring, tolerant & open minded people. Despite tyhe irresponsible actions of our governement ( in supporting & partaking in an illegal war based upon blatant lies) the British people remain united against terrorism as well as prejudice & bigotry. Unfortunately, this is not the attitude of many of the posters on this topic and some of the views expressed have been fuelled by hatred & lack of understanding.

  12. It is quite clear from some of the postings on this topic that many of you are completely misinformed about Islam & Muslims. Perhaps this is due to the poor representation or as some like to say, the Islamaphobia that is prevalent in the european media. Some of you even find it difficult to make the distinction between muslims & terrorists.

Please find below a peice that was recently printed in a UK newspaper. I am really impressed by the way the UK have handled this issue and it seems that they finally have realised that to forge a safer & unified international community, we need to re-build bridges and we ALL need to remain calm and show unconditional love for our fellow man regardless of creed or religion.

Hello all, please read this. Unfortunately all mainstream press are going with this Islamophobic tide and sometimes we need an alternative angle.

Cartoon row: the issue is racism

This is not about "freedom of speech". It's not about a "war of civilisations". It's about racism. Anyone who doubts that need look no further than the right wing Danish paper that commissioned the notorious anti-Muslim cartoons last September.

It would have us believe it was all for a noble principle of "freedom of speech". Oh, really? This is the same paper, Jyllands-Posten, which:

Campaigned in 1984 to censor an artist who produced an erotic image of Jesus.

Refused three years ago to print a cartoon because the editors said it would provoke an outcry among Christians.

No brave commitment to freedom of speech there. That was

only invoked, cynically, when the editors chose to target Muslims, not for debate about religious views, but with bigoted caricatures that imply every Muslim is a terrorist.

One rule for the majority, another for Arab, Asian and African immigrants. There's a word for that - it's called racism.

And the same scapegoating, masked by the same hypocrisy about freedom, is oozing from the other right wing papers in Europe that have leapt to give these racist images a wider circulation.

The French paper France-Soir claims it is committed to freedom of expression. But not, it seems, for Muslims.

The same paper supports the French government's ban on young Muslim women wearing headscarves in school. What's "tolerant" or "liberal" about that?

As for those who claim it is impossible to be racist against Muslims because Islam is a religion "not a race", consider the followers of the Jewish faith.

    If a paper

reprinted a cartoon depicting a Jewish person in the manner of Nazi propaganda in the 1930s, every liberal paper and commentator would rightly slam the racism, rather than denouncing Jewish people and anti-racists for being outraged.

None would say it was merely a question of debating religious views rather than being about spreading racism.

Yet in Britain, while no paper has republished the cartoons, we have not had furious editorials in the millionaire-owned press exposing the racist demonisation of Muslims.

Instead, the media is further demonising Muslims by suggesting that they don't understand "Western democracy" and press freedom.

These well paid editors could do with learning a thing or two themselves about standing up to censorship.

The lot of them have gone along with government censorship in refusing to name Nicholas Langman, an MI6 agent implicated in the illegal seizure of Pakistani immigrants in

    Greece.

What kind of fearless media is this that refuses to stand up to powerful secret government agencies, but berates some of the most powerless people in society?

And make no mistake, Muslim immigrants in Europe are among the most downtrodden across the continent.

In Britain they fall behind the average on every social indicator - housing, earnings, employment, education. The same is true in France, Germany, Demark and the rest of the European Union.

And since 11 September 2001 they have been systematically targeted. Anti-Muslim racism, Islamophobia, is the ideological cover for George Bush's endless "war on terror".

The US and British military refuse to even count the number of dead in Iraq. That would not be the case if they, their governments and the bulk of the media considered the lives of brown skinned Muslims in the Middle East every bit as valuable as those who have been killed in New York, Madrid and London.

They don't. "Our" names honoured, "theirs" not even recorded - racism.

The British government cannot admit that the war on Iraq and decades of Western intervention in the Middle East are the reason why Britain and the US are so hated in the region and beyond.

Instead, we are told it is something to do with Muslims themselves. And in order to prove you are a "good Muslim", not an "evil extremist", you have to sign up to Bush and Blair's campaign. Hence there are the endless loyalty tests.

    Liberal

Supposedly liberal commentators feel no restriction, show no signs of "self censorship", when they routinely abuse people who were born here (and who happen to be Muslim) of being insufficiently British - racism.

Government ministers sense no shame in telling one group of people what language they should speak in their own home, as if every British resident on the

Costa del Sol spoke Spanish round the kitchen table.

This "respectable" Islamophobia fuels the violent racist attacks of the Nazi British National Party (BNP), which exploits the general anti-Muslim climate and whose leader, a Holocaust denier, walks away from a court case over incitement to racial hatred.

And when those on the receiving end of all this speak out and protest, they are demonised again.

    Stereotypes

The cameras seek out those images that will confirm the provocative stereotypes that people are objecting to in the first place.

It's like kicking someone repeatedly and then, when they hit back, saying, "Look, I told you they were violent."

And the overall effect goes beyond Muslim people who are targeted. For if those responsible for wars, exploitation here and across the globe, and the destruction of our civil liberties succeed in scapegoating Muslims, we

will all suffer - Muslim or not.

Racism has always meant divide and rule. It has always been undermined by unity of working people against the common enemy we all face.

  13. Hi everyone,

I love noodles of all kinds especially cellophane noodles - wun sen.

When in Thailand, I would eat:

Yam Wun Sen - a spicy salad of glass noodles, minced pork, seafood, chillies, lime juice & seasonings

    &

Wun Sen Op Kung / Pu - noodles baked in a clay pot with prawns or crab.

Both are delicious and i just love the texture of wun sen noodles & the way they "hold" the flavour of the ingredieants that are cooked with it. However, I haven't seen them being used in many other dishes. I assume that this is due to their texture & the fact that they are really delicate & some more robust methods of cooking may render them unedible. Though I am sure I have seen Pad Wun Sen on some menus.

Does anyone have any suggestions of using them and dishes i may be able to re-create at home. Are there many other dishes that can wun sen can be used for?

    Many thanks,

    J

  14. I stand corrected. My highly proclaimed BRITISH dictionary from 2002 says this about 'third world.' First of all, the term is OFFENSIVE. Second, it now denotes poor countries, which don't have much development. Finally, "People now prefer to use the term, 'developing countries.'"

So, the term has changed from one that was initially political alignment, and then (perhaps since 1991) has come to have a pejorative, offensive denotation based on poverty and lack of development.

We're just arguing semantics, not Thailand, so can we please move this thread to www.franticsemanticantics.com ?

    At last an intelligent response!

  15. Fish with chillies followed by yellow turkey curry? Sorry, suegha, but (to use an American expression that seems appropriate here) you just totally grossed me out.

Sorry Harry but the thought of cheeseburgers & fries grosses me out.

What's so bad about spicy fish followed by turkey curry...

not enough empty calories for a yankee pallette????

  16. I have to agree with Sabaijai.

For me, Som Tam is the king of thai street food!

No other dish encapsultes what Thailand is all about like a freshly prepared plate of fiery som tam eaten at a busy traffic intersection. What could be more thai.....

  17. hey Nu,

    Tough to find!

Last year, I remember trawling thru MBK, Emporium, WTC, Pratunam & even KSR market but alas to no avail. I am a size 11 ( uk) but the highest they seem to go upto is 10.

If you tell me what style you want, I'd be happy to pick something up for you from here in London & deliver when i am next in BKK in early March?

    J

  18. In London, I won't go to a thai restaurant that uses anything other than green pappaya in it's som tam. If they can't be bothered to import it and keep the menu real then they're not getting my custom!

I have tried various recipes for what is my fav' food, including a variation in chiang mai made with pomelo, and nothing beats Som Tam Isaan ( with fermented crab).

But surely, Som Tam has gotta have pappaya???

  19. Hey looking for a hotel in Bangkok for around 700-800 baht a night, near the skytrain or underground and it needs to have a swimming pool.

We normally stay at the Ratchada city hotel but getting bored with always staying at this hotel, fancied a change. Not too fussed what area we stay in as long as i have access to easy travel around the city, maybe even somewhere near a river taxi would be good, but we will have a small baby with us, so jumping on and off boats while they are still moving could be abit tricky. :o

    hey Mate,

    Check out www.asiarooms.com

Best prices & they've never let me down!

    Good Luck.

ps. stay away from lower sukhumvit - sois 1 - 19 unless of course you enjoy the company of prostitutes & sex tourists.

  20. Isn't thailands foreign exchange reserves dependent on tourism levels?

Is that the sophisticated way of saying "if it wasn't for us farangs Thailand would be nothing!!"

Anyway, foreign investment is the driver of reserves here. Tourism, though important, isn't the be all and end all. The Asian finacial crisis and the resulting drop in the baht didn't happen because a bunch of people decided to stop holidaying here....

This isn't what I was getting at!!!!!

I'm not one of these people that thinks that because i choose to spend my "hard earned" in LOS that I have a right to interfere in their politics, way of life or customs!

However, as exports go, Tourism is Thailands greatest export. If tourists stay way, surely this is going to affect the strength of the baht??? And it does seem that people are staying away!

I will, of course, continue to support the country I love!
