  1. I would think if the force you to stay they would give you a visa.

You would think so. I know a guy who spend a few month in jail prior to being acquitted and found not guilty. Afterwards he had to pay the overstay fine. Immigration couldn't care less about being locked up while innocent. New overstay=banning rule could make an erroneous arrest with incarceration pending trial a very serious matter.
Big weapon in the arsenal of an unsound mind...

Why does he have an unsound mind?

With a statement like that, and your avatar, questions arise about the healthy and stability of your mind.

Why don't you crawl back under your rock and look in the mirror. coffee1.gif

  2. I often read it as Victim in Process rather than Very Important Person.

All depends on who sits in the seats or tries to exploit the perks...........................wink.png

I always read it as, Very Insecure Person.

  3. You shouldn't ask questions that you really don't want the answer too, but you did.

After Thai immigration decided they wouldn't use my retirement visa paper work to convert my non-O to the extension based on retirement, I realized I had four days to leave the country. This was partly my fault, but an act of kindness was not afforded me.

This meant I had to drop everything I was doing, cancel a Thanksgiving dinner party and travel on my birthday. (I was still at immigration when I came to this conclusion)

On my way home, I honked at a government van that was pulling out of an expensive gated residential neighborhood. (To afford to live there on a government salary would seem to be impossible.) The WOMAN driving the van decided to give me a 'shave' as she passed me on my motorcycle, just because I honked at her. If I had not swerved, I would have been another blood stain on the road.

    It was the last straw.

As I traveled to get another tourist visa, I compiled my experiences and the experiences of those I have read about over the years. I realized I was following the path of many who come here and try to rein in their thoughts and feelings about how they are treated here, in an all out effort to make it work.

I realized reining in thoughts and feelings was a disservice to myself. Why should I be treated by a dog by a people who encourage their children to be prostitutes, so they can be lazy? Why should I be looked down upon by that are 'so sophisticated' that they wipe their arse with their hands? Why should I surround myself with people who are fake and only want my money?

When I made a conscious choice to leave, it was like a weight lifted off of me, providence moved, and a new door opened, simultaneously.

I have to go through the visa games to make the time to structure something in another country, and to have enough time to sell the assets I have here. That's okay.

When I leave, I won't be encumbered by defamation laws or the computer crimes act...

I expect there will be several Thai's and apologists that will chime in; good riddance. That's okay too. Say what you want to say. Your words won't hurt me.

I will have my own words to say after I leave. I will be echoing the words of many before me; 'Do not go to Thailand'. That message in the world keeps getting stronger and stronger.

My resolution and my Christmas gift to myself, is to leave this backwater <deleted> hole. I'm sure I am not alone in my thoughts or feelings. coffee1.gif

  4. Okay, so I was off a bit. It's been a while since I looked at Panama. http://vivatropical.com/panama/retiring-to-panama-got-easier/

If you structure a business there, or buy a house, and have 5000.00 in the bank, you get an Immediate Permanent Residency Visa.

I did not say you didn't have to file FBAR/FATCA. I said there is no tax treaty with the USA.

As far as FATCA goes, anything under 50,000 is not required by the banks to report.

There's an interesting piece I just read about FBAR. It seems a guy filed his FBAR and paid his taxes, but did not give any account information. When pressed, (I think in court) He plead the 5th. The court said he paid his taxes, and that was what the requirement was. I like his style!

  5. Panama; $5000.00 US in a bank to get a retirement visa. No 90 day check-ins. If you play it smart, you get free health care and a discount card for may stores. There are banking privacy laws, and there's no tax treaty with the USA. Any money made outside of Panama is not taxed. You can own land and a business. Residential burglaries happen if you're not prepared. Police ride two-up with a pistol grip shotgun. Security everywhere.

Medellin, Columbia and Villkabomba(?), Ecuador sit a 1500 meters above sea level, so the weather is really nice and, if you like a garden, it's got really rich soil. Can't tell you about the visa's, but I hear Ecuador has become a bit nationalistic and there's a huge import tax (read; a bit like Thailand)

  6. "The eye's are the window to the soul", we've all heard that one before yeah, Well there is some research that go to this, ie truth and untruth, eg

if you asked a question to someone and they looked up and left, they are accessing visually constructed images, (vc) /lie

If you asked a question to someone and they looked up and right they are accessing visually remembered images.(vr)/ truth

now similar for asking about hearing something, eyes left auditory constructed, (ac) or eyes right auditory remembered (ar).

Eyes left and down is a feeling, and eyes right and down is internal dialog, (talking to yourself).

There's more about activating east and west hemisphere of the brain when asking questions, imagined/lie recalled/truth,

But the jury is still out on this but not to difficult make a list of test questions and see how it turns out.

just google it, you'll get the picture.cheersthumbsup.gif

Would that be the 'subjects' right/left or the questioner's right/left??? I'm interested in this technique...

    Serious /legitimate answer appreciated. Thanks...

    The subject.

  7. I think I started a flame lol. Lots of good comments though.

I know they are lying, you can tell. I bet YOU can tell too - but you cannot prove.

I couldn't agree more with shirtless' comment. You feel me? Look, if you're working for a company, that's one thing. When you own something with workers - and your workers start stealing stuff it's very frustrating.

Can they sue me for harassment? I thought u had to go through an agreement on one of these things.

    Sigh.... T_T

Like we say in the poker world; you can't lose what you don't put in the middle....

  8. I don't think you're going to get a lot of love out of this crowd! I have never met a foreigner who didn't have a visa issue.

Last week I was in an immigration office and one of the bosses came out of the back room with 2 folded bundles of money that looked to be 40k each. When she saw that I saw, she tried to hide what she was doing. She stuck them in her desk drawer.

Why don't you do a story on that subject? Defamation laws? coffee1.gif

  9. Buy some cleaning solution, a immersion big heater, a spray bottle, and a wet/dry shop vac. Get an old 5 gallon paint bucket.

Fill the bucket with water. Drop in the heater and the cleaning solution. Bring water/solution to a boil. Put solution in the spray bottle.

Spray solution on a corner to test for color bleeding. Let sit for a minute. Suck it up w/ shop vac. If everything's good, do the rest of the rug. Hang to dry.

    I'm a DIY person. I also don't think you'd get a quality job here.

  10. Take it to the labor board. They seem to be balanced and will fight for the rights of the worker if the worker has been displaced.

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! Run a daily diary of events and get witness statements. What is on paper holds more value in court than a 'he said, she said' argument. At least in the west.

A lawyer will take the case for a percentage from what I hear. The person bringing the case has to pay that out of pocket up front.

    Good luck!

    • Usually up to 2 weeks early is possible.
    • The extension will start from when the existing permission to stay expires. So nothing lost by applying early.
    • TM7 form. Copies passport photo page, entry stamp, departure card. Photo. 1,900 baht.
    • Some offices are asking for proof of residence or a TM30 completed if privately renting.

I'm in the same sitch. I'm going today. 10 days early. Will post results.

It seems you have had some NLP training. It works wonders!

Combine the eye patterns with the incongruent body movements and pregnant pauses, and you can 'read' most people well.

    Cheers to you! thumbsup.gif
