  1. I am a Brit, and have just found a NEWLY established garage for repairs, I have a Honda City and had tried 2 or 3 garages in my area but NOT entirely happy with work OR the price charged, so, I decided to try this garage that has been open only a matter of weeks

Its a husband and wife team, REALLY nice people, very courteous, nice little clean premises and I thought they deserve a mention here

The garage is in Ban  Suan, is called AUTO FIT [ 091-817-7345 ]

Took my car there and the gentleman immediately stopped work and came to talk with me, I had my Thai fiance with me so she could tell him what was wrong with car [ although his wife speaks a little English ] he took my car for a drive, came back and he found my problem straight away, a broken engine mounting, got on his motorbike and went off to get spare, fitted brilliant!!

He also did a FULL service, changed and flushed oil, air & oil filters etc etc

My car WAS very noisy outside AND under the bonnet, I asked him IF he could try to quieten it down, the car went up on one of his hoists and the exhaust bracket had come apart [ a rather large well known company had had a look a couple of weeks earlier and told me I needed a complete exhaust system ] he tightened it and voila, no noise....he went under bonnet and out came my carburettor and everything else I think, he worked for over an hour just under the bonnet and I thought this will cost a fortune!!!

He finished, took my car for another drive, ten minutes later he was back and finished, his wife gave me the bill............

I actually got change from 2,500B!!!! I was just amazed to say the least!!!

    The car sounds brilliant, fantastic!!!!

This wonderful garage is BRILLIANT and would recommend to anyone

  2. I understand that Thai Immigration presently use a rate of 50 baht to the pound when re-assessing income for renewing visa extensions. How often do they re-access the rates that they use?

I ask because with GBP dropping dramatically it could take me just below the 65,000 baht per month level. I will renew my extension in October 2016 and anything below 45 baht per pound will take me below the minimum level. Today i noticed that the Kassikorn Bank are offering a rate of just 44.78 baht to the pound and still dropping

I understand that I can use a combination of money in the bank and monthly income if necessary. Up until now monthly income has been sufficient but with money in the bank needing to be seasoned for three months, I will need to plan ahead now.

  3. Please, Please, Please....do NOT buy an i-mobile phone!!!!

i am a very clumsy Brit, dont know how i did it but i have broken my i-mobile front screen twice now, each time it cost 2,000B to repair compared with 800B for a Samsung, during Songkran a couple of weeks ago i accidentally got it only very slightly wet as it was actually covered up, not good enough i know, as I said, it got slightly wet, took it into i-mobile service centre in Chonburi inside Tesco and they kept it for 4 days, never bothered ringing my wife to advise how much it would cost to repair, went down personally again and they wanted 5,000B

one of the problems I am told is that no normal mobile phone repairer can repair [ or dont want to repair ] i-mobile phones so they can charge what they like

The phones are...ok-ish for a cheap phone but certainly NOT happy with their after sales service!!!

  4. hi out there, Felang living 1km from Chonburi Central, building a kitchen extension and want to buy an 2440mm x 1220mm x 20mm thick blockboard sheet or similar [ 8ft x 4ft ]

  5. Came to Thailand on a triple entry tourist visa, I did my last visa on 29th June 2015, then started the process to convert to a Non O visa based on retirement straight after that

Received my Non O visa on 18th August 2015 and did my first visa extension on the 20th Oct 2015

I am trying to work out when to do my 90 day report but i am confused when filling in the TM47 because it states I have now been here for 90 days

but, I have been here for MORE than 90 days since last leaving Thailand. Just realised the 90 days were up after being given my Non O visa but before obtaining my extension

Should i have done a 90 day report in September [ could NOT do a visa run because it was a single entry visa I was given ]

Is this going to cause a problem and is my next 90 day report due from the start of my extension?
