95% of Thai students can hardly speak ENGLISH
Really want to be a fly around in that police station to see how they deal with the other languages......

At the other hand, they should oblige every cop who deals with tourists at least speaking some

decent English since tourism is a major income stream in TH !  Too much SHIT happens in LOS

between cops and tourists as they dont understand each other...

Maybe your right, 95% has a hard time speaking English. Lets give the kids credit for trying to help out and by the way, my (Thai) niece speaks better English than I do. I for one would like to thank these young students for helping out. Their parents must be proud of them, I know I would be

Howard Zimmer is the Canadian owner of the bar. The Australian voice you can hear on the tape is from the Australian customer of the bar. The woman holding Zimmers left arm is his wife who owns the bar. it is her  voice you can hear on the tape saying "she hit him first".

The phone video was taken at the police station where footage supplied by the bar owner was shown.

The woman who beaten up was the wife of a customer who had come to collect her husband from the bar, she had just been groped inside the bar and Zimmer was told forcefully to stop by hismown wife and the Australian customer.

When Zimmer was escorted out of his own bar by his wife he then decided to grope the woman again by grabbing her ass.

If she was smart she would still be in power ;) ...all this proves is that she is a thoroughly dishonest scam artist!

I believe she is a very smart woman but put into a position of power surrounded by corruption. Her biggest problem was she was to nice of a person, not ruthless enough to control the corruption surrounding her. Her heart was in the right place to try and help the poor. The problem today is that the people still like her and know she tried to help them. As we see by Deputy Prime Ministers remark that it was OK to seize Yingluck's assets, even before the courts decide if she's guilty or not only goes to show that they still fear the woman and want to destroy the family. I don't care what anyone says but my heart goes out to this woman

I am not a fanatical Christian but I find your comments disturbing. Suicide or Euthanasia or whatever you want to call it is a cowards way out. If you have no family or responsibility then OK. But if you are leaving behind wives, children and other family then you are a coward. I also believe euthanasia should be illegal as life is precious as is the life of your family. By doing this you are destroying their lives too... As for jumping from a high building. Wouldn't it be easier and less gruesome to take an overdose of something...A cowards way out...

I'm not a fanatical Christian either but Euthanasia is not a cowards way out. I've seen family members in so much pain and asking to die. Can you give me one good reason why someone with water on the heart or terminal Cancer where they are in sever pain must live like this? sometimes for hours, days, weeks or months. I watched as the nurses repeatedly pumped fluid out of my dads lungs every few hours for 2 days and keep him full of morphine to help reduce the level of pain as family watched and hoped he die so the pain will go away  or watched as my mother-in-law begged to die after she got water on the heart.  This lasted for nearly 2 weeks before she passed away. Life is no -longer precious when you are in total pain.  Why are we humane to animals, put them to sleep when they are in severe pain and dying  but sit back and watch fellow humans suffer, can we not also be humane to our fellow man. Maybe someday should you or a close family member end up with a terminal illness and severe pain, you will understand

Forget about the fuel that he didn't pay for, there is a much bigger story here.  Im more interested in knowing how a police officer (3 stars = lieutenant), can afford a car that is approx 7.2 times his yearly salary.  For example, If he makes approx 40,000 a month = 480,000 per year and buys a car costing approx 3,500,000.  If he used 50% of his salary it would takes him approx 15 years to pay that back.  There is no way in hell any bank is going to loan that much money over that period of time for a car.  That would be the same as someone on $50,000 per year buying a $350,000 car.  Just doesn't happen.

It does in Thailand.  You're  forgetting about the tea money bonuses

So sorry, thought it was Mrs. X but turned out to be Mrs. Y. All old ladies look the same. Someone said it was trouble making old lady so beating was necessary. Worried little bit old lady fight back but not feel in much danger as there were many of us and only one old lady. Once old lady was knocked down, was safe to aim kicks towards her head. I only kick one time in head area after she falls down. It was not my fault, her fault because she wearing same color dress as other old lady

Ofcourse not banks will send letter after letter and make phone after phone call and he is not aware?Than why he pull out his gun and steals back the car instead of asking what its about?

Maybe they sent letters, husband is at work so the wife could of destroyed these letters, If my wife called up to me saying people were trying to steal my car/truck, I sure wouldn't come out holding a coffee cup, It would be a loaded gun in hand. Taking the car wasn't such a bad idea either even if they tell me they are from the bank, could be a scam.  Would then get in touch with the bank and resolve any issues and if need be pay the bank direct. I agree there are bad cops over here but there are also some good ones.

Bangkok to Pattaya via Tak. That's the route most of us would take I'm sure  . . .

Maybe the local cab didn't want to make the trip so the Danish man called someone or a cab driver he knew it BK to come and get him and his girlfriend and bring them to Pattaya. A friend of mine has a certain number he calls when he requires a cab,  he says that he now knows the driver, he doesn't drive like an idiot and he always treated fair.

The government and authorities have done NOTHING to stop the carnage on the roads.

Talk, talk, talk, year after year of talk talk talk; no laws are enforced ...... no even if you run over and kill a policeman.

Nothing will ever change; except perhaps one  day Thailand will become top of the Road Killer tables rather than second.

I have to disagree with you on this, Earlier this month, as we were returning home nightly from Nakhom Pathom (between 10 & midnight) we were stopped 4 out of 7 times with police check stops. Flashing their flash lights checking my eyes, open windows for the smell of alcohol, plus once into a breathalyzer. I for one have no problem with this , more drunks off the road the better. The best part is they locate the stops where everyone must proceed through. I do wish the police would also concentrate on careless driving and the vans that think everyone must get out of their way cause they flashed their lights at oncoming traffic.

Isn't it amazing how some people in this so-called Buddhist country can apparently explode in the blink of an eye over the most trifle of issues and resort to utterly violent reactions that stand in no proportion to the "offense" allegedly committed by the opposing party?

Especially among the adult population, which should have learned some restraint and reasoning over mindless action, the generally prevailing inability to maturely deal with confrontations of any kind is absolutely baffling.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: This is largely a nation of hot-headed 10-year-olds, and regardless of what the individual's biological age may be.

Now she can go back to the market place and do as she pleases, all she has to say is you want some of the same, I've done it before and I will do it again

Buddhism Office proposes appointment of new abbot of Dhammakaya temple

BANGKOK: -- The National Office of Buddhism has proposed the Pathumthani provincial Sangha ecclesiastical council to appoint the new abbot of the Dhammakaya temple with request that he must be from other temple.

The proposal to Phra Theprattanasuthi, the head of the Pathumthani provincial ecclesiastical council, was made by the director of the national office Pol Lt Col Pongporn Pramsaneh yesterday.

In his proposal, he asked Phra Theprattanasuthi to appoint the new abbot of Wat Dhammakaya under Announcement 24 of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand with a request that he considers monk from other temple, not from Dhammakaya, be appointed.

But Phra Theprattanasuthi has earlier indicated that the new abbot of Dhammakaya should be selected from the monks of the temple who is most respected and acceptable by all monks of the temple.

Keep it corrupt as they believe they are above the law, for maybe a new Abbot may want them to become law abiding

So she allegedly bought those land plots with money that was given to her by the temple, after which she allowed the temple to freely use the newly acquired plots while on paper she remained the de-facto owner?

I am not sure how a lawyer would twist that around, but to me this is money laundering, plain and simple.

Those wretched monks can proclaim their innocence as loudly and noisily as they want, but it is becoming increasingly clear that this temple and its corrupt inhabitants are entangled in more financial crimes than one can shake a stick at. Almost every week something new comes to light - and almost always some big-wig "follower" is somehow involved.

Shame on this abomination of a so-called Buddhist temple, in which the only thing worshipped appears to be mammon.

This is ongoing, I met elderly lady the other day who mentioned that the temple gave them the money to purchase a large chunk of land valued near $1,000,000.00 US dollars, and that piece of land will be left to the temple once the couple die and they are both on their death beds. Now would that be money laundering since they will be inheriting the land??

    And bad maintainance of brakes....

I guess we will see a couple of minor scratched motorbike for sale

Every week we see another accident due to brake failure, In most case I would say the cause is one of 2 things, 1/ brake fade because he didn't gear properly and road his brakes down the grade,  2/ Maintenance, brakes not properly adjusted or worn out and the driver would have known this. The cause should be verified by a mechanic and the truck owner and driver charged if maintenance related and not with just a small slap on the wrist, but where it hurts, in the pocket book. The owner, 100,000 Baht and the second occurrence  1,000,000 Baht and so on.

Um sorry,  well then nothing more to see here.  The guy should get prison.  I can see where these thugs get it from and national leaders are setting a great example.  A member of the National Reform Committee uses physical violence against a waiter for the same reason.

Sorry my ass, the only reason he turned himself in is because his actions got caught on camera and the cops new who he was. Thought of a good story, at least in his mind, then surrendering to the police. Now he thinks of himself as a tough guy, beat up an security with only 2 of my friend to help.

    It doesn't take long to spend 80,000 Baht in options when you consider a Toyota liner tub is approx 6000 Baht . . . . First class insurance is 22000 Baht . . . . Pickup lid approx 27000 Baht . . . . External and internal options . . . .

We purchased a new vehicle back in 2012 with my wife and stepson doing the negotiations and settled on a price, The price didn't vary when the salesperson found out it was I who was buying the vehicle. He did try to get me to put the car in the GF name saying at first he couldn't sell it to me, it had to be in the GFs name. I shook my head and told my GF  we were leaving to go and see about purchasing my second choice vehicle from Honda, sales man call us back and sold the said vehicle at quoted price. Did take over 3 months to get the 3,000 baht returned when returning the red plates. I agree with the options bit, just purchased a new vehicle in my home country,  didn't take long for the options in excess of $10,000.00
