When I tried to read this story in Vietnam yesterday I kept getting the message 'site not available'. All other internet sites worked. Is there some kind of censorship?

The stall should be called "Instant Karma".

Momentary loss of concentration? The cause of many accidents.

It's very difficult to watch this. How could this guy do that?
He's a vicious animal who should be charged with attempted murder at least.

The Orwellian description of pigs patting each other as they get fat from corruption is scarily unfolding.

If Prawit had obtained the watches before he took government office, he would have to explain why he had failed to list them in his assets declaration, he added. If he acquired them after entering the Cabinet he would not have to declare them until he left, Worawit said.
Is this a nightmarish fantasy or an even worse reality?

Will the driver be professionally trained & or have a lot of experience just like the bus drivers here?
Will the train be maintained & brakes fixed to the stds that we know here?
Then I just might!
I have similar thoughts. Without wanting to be too condescending or negative I'd recommend Japanese control of operations and maintenance for a few years.

They are probably 'workers'. When you see what you think are Thais doing menial work such as builders labourers or the many hundred workers in Super cheap Phuket a few years ago, they are not. My Thai girlfriend told me "not Thai, they are Laos or Myanmar or Indonesian.

Yeah, yeah, jump on the bandwagon. It is clear from the pictures that 90% of the "rubbish" is seaweed. So, let us be a bit more accurate - 100 soldiers picked up 90 tonnes of seaweed and 10 tonnes of trash from beaches around Hua Hin. Even that seems a bit much to me.

Smoking tobacco is not illegal. Many countries have adopted sanctions on smokers that demean and disrespect them. I would like to see their rights protected and respect restored. Or else make tobacco illegal, then we can enjoy it as long as we pay our "tea money".

How about just stop smoking. Problem solved for everybody. Good for both your health and wallet.
Your inane reply indicates your inability to appreciate a complex problem.

The truck appears to be 'parked' on the road.

Of course she had an ear problem. She didn't want to 'ear the verdict.

Such clear and apparently sage advice from Park official Somchat Saeli. Wish the rest of Thai bureaucracy were so understanding and helpful.

Pretty good considering English is their second language. Wonder if there's a Thai version?

Yes, she was locked up but that was because she didn't pay her bail money, no one deprived her of her liberty except for her, she was free to go anytime she met bail requirements.
You seem determined to justify what happened. Are you so one eyed that you cannot see the complete stupidity of this case, particularly when compared to many more serious crimes with trivial penalties?

I have read most of this poignant and heart rending story, https://www.nathanhouse.com/ . I am very sad at the tragic loss of this life. I know it can be a cruel world out there and much of it is far from perfect but I think his psychologist, Dr. Gary Sibcy, is guilty of criminal neglect resulting in death.

A typical young backpacker 'seeing the world' but what a tosser for causing so much grief to others. Six of the best when you get home my lad.

This is my first post. I've been reading Thai Visa for a year or so now and finally decided to take part.
My observations thus far show that it's best to read what has been said before; secondly and perhaps most importantly 'put the brain in gear before you take off'.
This story spurred me to join and comment. I find it disturbing the number of suicides I read about. Obviously it's an easy way out for the police etc, but I have a personal view that may explain the frequency of actual suicides; A male of any age in Thailand can imagine himself in 'Paradise' as long as he can financially support his habit. The truth of the reality when the money runs out could be so disillusioning that the ultimate exit is the only way to go.
Thai ladies are the most beautiful in the world and can please a man beyond his pre-Thai expectations. Sadly this sensuous erotic quality is matched by a ruthlessly financial aspect. I've been here on and off for four years and i'm still in love with the place and the people. I've had relationships with some beautiful Thai women and a few heartbreaks. The hard fact is that to varying degrees money is a vital part of any relationship. Some do try rip you with stories of sick family buffaloes but I have been lucky. My first bar girl 'girlfriend' in Patong wouldn't let us catch a taxi back to my hotel, "too expensive, we get motorbike taxi ". She zealously guarded any of my expenditure that wasn't going to her.
Anyway, sorry, I have drifted from the topic. My first impulse was to suggest an obvious case of suicide. But that is an old joke now. I think there is a big opening for an investigative journalist in Thailand to write full stories about this types of case.

When I was in Cambodia 2 weeks ago I read in the English Phom Penh Post that the country was experiencing daily power outages. Hun Sen was quoted as saying "anyone who criticises will have their power cut off.
I waited till I was ready to leave Vietnam before I posted on Facebook that in his Khmer Rouge days it would have been their heads.
