  1. It's tempting to come to the conclusion that they don't want farangs unless it's for a short vacation. That fairly much sums up the way most countries look at foreigners. No reason Thailand should be different.

I am uncertain what you mean or intended to add to this topic.

The OP was seeking a single entry (short term) Tourist visa.

Many people (me included) have lived in Thailand for many years without any difficulty.

  2. You can safely continue to the website by clicking "advanced" or continue to site" .

I just tried and the site opens.

That error page appears because the Thais signed their own security certificate

Just what I wrote above whistling.gif

My post does not contain unnecessary (and distracting) Thai bashing verbiagesmile.png

  3. So assuming you are close enough to the Lao border -- and that the Lao visa might replace 2 1900 baht 30-day extensions -- I figure

I figure , that if you are near to the Laos border,

from info gained , from recent farangs, doing 60 day visa renewal.

just deliver,, reqd cash at immigration , and they will tick the boxes.

METV, looks good on paper , cash talks.

    Nothing new , wai2.gif

"doing 60 day visa renewal. just deliver,, reqd cash at immigration"

Are you are talking about Tourist visas? It is impossible to "renew" Tourist or any other visa at immigration.

  4. Every year the banks and the drug stores give out free calendars. Next year, maybe get one.

It was a deliberate overstay. Laotians don't consider it a big deal at all, unlike farang on messageboards. Strange that.

Very true. My family are all Laotians living in Thailand. Some do monthly border runs, some just overstay and some don't even have passports. None of them seem very concerned about anything visa related!

Maybe you should warn the family !

The new overstay rules apply to everyone ---------not just Western "guests" !

  5. I never heard about the O-A visa for over 50-ties.But JLCrab explained that these are only available from Consulate/Embassy in home/residence or designated country.

I always obtained MT Multi "O" from Hon.Cons.in Amsterdam.

Sorry for my ignorance but is the only difference for documentation needed for the "O-A"visa the Police Clearance Certificate?

Do I buy the multi entry permit at the same time I apply for the extension to stay (learning ?)

What are the exact documents needed for the extension to stay for a "O" or "A-O" visa?

Thanks again for helping me to see the ?

    1. I just checked the Amsterdam website and it doesn't look like they offer the non 'O-A' which is probably why you haven't heard of it.
    2. A criminal check and medical report are the main differences.
      • The financial requirements are the same as the non 'O'.
      • If you are limited to the non 'O' you might be better off just getting a 1 year extension of stay and re-entery permit.
    3. Yes you can apply for the re-entry permit once the extension has been granted (same day) or apply at a later date. They are also available at the major international Airports on departure.
    4. Depends. Assuming you are applying using the cash in the bank you need: Application form TM7. Photo, Copies of passport pages, updated bank passbook, letter from the bank confirming the balance, proof of address. If using the income method it's the same, but you need a letter from your Embassy certifying your income. It's very straightforward.

The Thai Embassy in the Netherlands is found in The Hague !

They do the O/A visa but refer to it as a LONG STAY visa.

NB The website contains errors !

  6. Don't understand you do a border run when you have 1 year marriage extension until Sep'16. ??

Just get a re-entry visa 1900 from what I remember.

Try reading the OP ! "my non o multiple entry visa"

It would appear the OP has a VISA not an extension!

Did you know that visas and extensions are very different things ?

  7. Without proof that she was actually blacklisted and she entered the country with a passport in the same name, the report is worthless and doesn't help anyone.

Any internet forum report is anecdote, they're not mathematical equations. But ok here's the first few pages of her passport, she's in the country now on this replacement passport, with no proper entry stamp.

Which means she is in the country illegally.

Not a very smart move .

  8. OP , I love going to hcmc for a break. The consulate while being not crowded has been (according to some reports, bit more prickly)

Even years ago before there was concern with multiple visa exempt stamps, I went for a second setv (not consecutive) and the io pointed out I spent LOT of time in los and because I was over 50 I should obtain correct visa. Non imm o.

Think might be time for you to try another consulate other than hcmc.

BTW what airline tickets did you provide for your setv from hcmc.

Since you are over 50 have you considered a non imm o-a multi envy visa? While a bit more work to obtain, it could provide a fix for your problem and if used correctly you could get almost two years from a single visa.

So how long does it take to process your O-A application and do you apply/pick-up in person or via the US mail?

How can I get nearly 2 years, for the past 5 years I go with the border bounce on the day before the visa runs out which gets me 90 days more, 15 months no where near 2 years.

Probably because you have a one year non imm multi-entry "O" visa. Not an "O/A" visa from which a two year stay can be had (this visa can only be obtained from a persons home country)

The max that can be had from the "O" visa is approx 15 months.

The post you responded to is misleading and contains factual inaccuracy.

  10. All of them are made in different locations, even countries, and I intend to keep it that way. But is there any written rule to this?

No written "rule" but if you are using tourist visas as a means of living in Thailand sooner or later you will the be challenged by immigration.

They will want to know exactly what you are doing in Thailand and how you are funding your stay.

    remove typo

I wonder if the 3x60 days exceeds any 6 months in any 1 year 'tourist' limit.

    There is no such limit.

  11. I live in Jomtien and went to Bkk a few months ago to renew my retirement visa. I lived in Bkk and moved to Jomtien. They said i can only renew it at Jomtien immigration since that is now where I live. I did my 90 day reporting at Jomtien, so the address of course reflected that. So I now have to drive from Jomtien to Bkk to get my income statement notorized at the US Embassy then drive back to Pattaya immigrration for the visa. Big pain. Terrible system .

You do not have a retirement "VISA" because visas cannot be renewed !

You get nothing "notorised" but you might swear an affidavit!

Sorry for the BIG PAIN but it was your choice to move to terrible Pattaya.
