  1. Hello Everybody....We are talking "Parasites" here!!!   Not bacteria!!! Parasitic symptoms take weeks to manifest and cause what they experienced and they continue to weaken the host more and more until treated! I haven't read through the 7 pages of this forum to see if anyone mentioned this because I am astounded at the BS out there!  We need an Infectious disease expert or doctor to weigh in.  Their symptoms line up with the timeline of their return and place of infection, we just can't be sure where this parasite was lurking while they were in Thailand.

The principal side effect is that for several days after popping the lozenge you have a semi-limp schlong the size of a well-stuffed salami to drag around with you. My advice is wear cargo pants with plenty of pockets stuffed with bulky articles so that the situation is disguised somewhat.

Did you have to mention cargo pants!? That's enough to make me lose my you know what!

  3. 25 mg could be enough to start so you could always use a pill cutter. It's hard to cut the pill precisely so just take a piece that looks like a quarter of the pill or even less and try it out. Go to many pharmacies and ask for the government made Sidegra and buy it from the pharmacy that sells it closest to 200baht. Don't buy from the street!

  4. I was sure my itching especially at night was due to to the same source of vegetarian food and orange juice that accumulated over 10 days in Chiang Mai. Had to take Benadryl each night to stop the itching. Surmised it was some sort of pesticide poisoning from unwashed fruits and vegetables. Went to the hospital and asked to test for pesticides and they told me there is no test for pesticides. And though I am not a doctor I somehow know that the liver processes toxins especially late in the evening or at bedtime. Once I removed myself from the source of the toxins the itching soon went away. After this experience I really tried to buy vegetables and fruits that I thought we're less contaminated from the more reputable stores in my area. Most people in this forum have chosen to look for the answer in all sorts of areas. Most of the itchiness I find comes from either swimming in the sea or from the food that we eat. It has been 3 years since my experience and there have been many studies done on pesticides produced by European scientists and some of them have been published in articles on thaivisa. The cause of itchiness in Thailand isn't necessarily the same as what one would experience in a western country. I wish there was more mindfulness of the problem.

Times I caught food poisoning in LOS - 1

Times I caught it at a HiSo restaurant - 1

Times I caught it eating street food - 0

Lyric says America - but now worldwide

When I lived in Thailand I wasn't concerned about bacteria in food as much as pesticide, which I am sure was the cause in my case. When I moved around Chiang Mai behind belching vehicles I found myself not breathing. Both pollution and pesticides are like silent killers. After these issues and the road dangers I often think about having made it out of Thailand alive!

  6. When you die due to health or suicide in Thailand your body putrefies very quickly.  If he wasn't found quickly or he had jumped it would have been much more unsightly.  I can never know why he did it this way but as horrible as the sight of him hanging was, it was easier for all involved to prepare his body for a funeral.  The discussion of how he did it is a natural response from us members but hopefully our compassion for this deceased man overrides all that noise.

  7. You know, if they didn't catch Maria Butina she would have flown the coop. I lived in Thailand for over 2 years during the Trump election. Now I live in the U.S.  and I see all the Russian sympathizers that live here on the East Coast. A lot of them think they got their man in the White House whether they are citizens or not. Russians interfered in the election and Trump is their willing enabler and vice versa. In any case this whistleblower is to be commended. Glad she is not under house arrest.

The real evil whistleblower is the Russian collaborator Julian Assange. And we need to get him and take care of the real enemies of the United States.

It is on topic because it's the truth, which I've provided backup evidence for, and as I said I also think it's obvious that it's highly probable that the murderous criminal behind the bombing attempt is affiliated with the far right wing white nationalists that are obsessed with demonizing Soros.

I agree that it is the truth but it is strange when the far-right loves the Kushners, Mnuchin, Stephen Miller, Larry Kudlow (Jew turned Catholic), Netanyahu, and the new capitol in Jerusalem. And then there are the Evangelicals/Fundamentalists in some southern cities (perhaps elsewhere) of the US that have an Israeli flag in their churches because of their wishful and therefore self-fulfilling  prophecy of the end of times! They want to have it both ways and turn their demonization to the left and Soros while forgetting (or rather avoid acknowledging) that the far-right in Charlottesville were the ones who were chanting "Jews Will Not Replace Us"!  It is really the far right who are the anti-Semites unless they can be used to enhance their own power and wealth--no ethics or morals need be considered. And yes I believe Soros has more in morals and ethics which so many on this forum and elsewhere seek to demonize. Demonization from the right has been a winning tactic for quite a while--ever since Nixon, is as far back as I can remember.  We are all going to die and I just wish our short lifetimes weren't filled with such desperation and lack of centrist values--The Middle Way is the only path where we all win.

  9. Beware excessive use of Proton Pump Inhibitors.  Over 10 years ago I double-dosed for a year, cured my reflux, and incurred significant bone loss.

We didn't know the long term effects back then--so be careful and find out more about all your meds and supplements.

Let's see if the Dems can bring these 20 anonymous people to tell there stories.

Until then it's all B.S. and just another smear tactic, which no doubt will come back to bite them in the A** at the next election.

The populous is not a stupid as the Dems seem to think, and they are getting pretty fed up with what they are trying to do.

Too late, Jackson withdrew because he couldn't stand the heat-- so the stories about him must have had some merit. Besides these stories would never have gotten out if there weren't Republicans concerned about the nomination as well.  Jackson must look a bit like you with that ashen complexion of an alcoholic jacked up on the Provigil he was dispensing.  Did you see his report on the President's health--he was weird to say the least. Veterans didn't want him either so there is no need to blame anyone other than Trump and Jackson for the failed nomination.

Rubbish. The hospital was really saying they did not have the sampling, preparation and analytical equipment required to test for pesticides in blood.

I knew that is why they said there is no test.  You have to realize that it is a Thai medical professional speaking English and we should all know that getting a straight answer in Thailand is almost never a sure thing.

Well we use coconut oil because I read that Olive oil does not behave well when heated.

It rapidly becomes rancid and therefore somewhat toxic.

Many oils as well as well as the oils in nuts and seeds become rancid through age and contact with oxygen.

Heating is a different matter because oils such as olive oil tend to smoke at lower temperatures--if you cook at a lower heat then it should be no problem.

Toxicity is a different matter I believe--you can grill a burger and burn it creating toxic compounds.  And then there are nitrates and nitrosamines.

A lot to consider . I am not a scientist or nutritionist but have been aware of these things for decades. Hey and I have had pesticide poisoning I assume from eating the same vegetarian food for 2 weeks in Thailand( too long to explain why). Each night when I went to bed  my liver went to work to cleanse my blood and I had skin reactions only at bedtime for a week.  The reactions were cooled only by the 15 yr. old Benadryl  I had in my possession which I brought from the west.  Take away the unwashed vegetables or fruits and their contamination and the issue went away.  I went to the hospital in Chiang Mai and they said there was no test for pesticide in the blood. So this is not proven but just my speculation. But if you Google you can get lots of info and studies on food contamination in Thailand, Asia, and the rest of the world. Check out oranges and also workers exposed to pesticides.

There is so much unseen in our environment and we need to be mindful and cautious. Just sayin'.

I have never had a guest/visitor get sick from eating street food... I once got sick eating a hamburger in a 5 star hotel in the countryside... they probably don't sell too many..

In other words, street food is pretty good, base your restaurant choices on how many customers they have when you walk past, but you might get a little sick anywhere... a quick 4 day course of anti-biotics will usually give an easy cure.

    We are talking pesticides here.

Had the lot; squamous cell, basal cell, Bowens sarcoma, and recently incipient melanoma. The melanoma was in an area that never sees the sun on my upper back. Always keep covered and wear a hat.

When scaly patches first appear I apply the topical medication 'Aldara' and after a period of redness and itching the lesion usually disappears. I have a skin doctor regularly check my back which discovered the very early melanoma, which is deadly if left untreated.

  15. I used LA Bicycle on Mahidol on south side mid-point between the south moat and Airport Plaza. Guy speaks great English, has limited help but he is always fair and will tell you what you need. They are not a high-end bike shop so you have to determine whether they will meet your needs.  Always worth it to inquire and just get a quote.
