Hello all. Please could you help us.
My Thai wife wants to go back home.
Please does anyone know the most up to date procedure. I looked on Thai airways and Eva air and couldn't see any flights available.
1 .Would she need a covid test before entry?
2 .Would she need a fit to fly note from doctor or clinic?
3. COE form?
4. Quarantine private hotel or state?
Thanks so much if you can help
Tony.

Hello all. My Thai wife would like to come to the UK again, last year when she stayed here in England she done the visa by herself but this time I would like to become the sponsor so she can stay longer, hopefully for 4-6 months.
With myself being the sponsor what documents would I need to provide for her application to be successful?
Thank you

No there’s no requirement to take your name, but if she intends to do at some stage, it might be better to do so now, it will save work later on, it’s quite quick and, I suspect, a lot cheaper.

Thank you theoldgit
She says she would like to change her surname now, would I need to wait until her passport and Thai ID card name change have been completed before starting the visa application.
Your help appreciated.

Hi, probably a stupid question but now I’m married to my Thai wife does she need to change her surname to my surname before she applies for her uk spouse settlement visa. Does she need to change all her passport, Thai ID card and whatever else before we start the process?
Thanks

Hello, got my 30 day stamp on arrival but will overstay by 2 days. What are my options? Can you still pay the 500 baht at the airport like I have done a few times previous or will I need to extend my 30 day stamp, if so where do I get this done and how much will it cost me?
Thank you.

Yes we are married now. Ok, I will goto translation offices in bangkok and get the certificates translated into English and registered with the MFA, I just wasn’t sure if I need to go back to the British embassy in bangkok and do anything there with these documents?
Thanks lopburi3

Hi all, I arrive in Bangkok on the 8th Feb and was hoping to book a appointment at the embassy for the 11th Feb for affirmation to marry.
Looking to book online on the embassy website and the only slots available so far are 29th Jan, 31st Jan and just the 1st Feb, all other days and months are unavailable to book. Will these dates become available closer to the time, it is just a matter of checking each day and hoping for a slot for the 11th Feb
I was planning to marry on the 15 Feb.
Would be great if someone knew more about this
Thank you Tony

The OD is not an issue.
If the relationship was evidenced on previous standard visitor applications then you should not need the services of an agent.
Read the pinned posts on here on the read the Gov.uk website and vfs global website.
Thank you Jip99 for your reply.
Appreciate your advice. She never mentioned me or our relationship when applying for her tourist visa, at the time she just told the ECO she wanted to visit the Uk for a 2 week holiday. After she received the 6 month visa we started to be concerned if she stayed for a few months so we thought it would be a good idea for her to return to Bkk and then come back to the Uk and stay 3 months.
Looking back now not sure we done the right thing so maybe using a agent will be a smarter move.
Thanks

Hi all, have a few questions about applying for a settlement visa.
Hopefully will be getting married to my Thai girlfriend Feb 2019 and possibly applying for settlement visa a few months after.
By Feb 2019 I would’ve been with her 1 year 2 months. Ive been to Thailand twice to stay with her and she’s been to England twice to stay with me.
She got her tourist visa all by herself. She stayed with me 2 weeks first time round, flew back to bangkok and stayed there for 1 month and then flew back to England and stayed with me 3 months.
My questions are:
1. Is it best to use an visa agency for applying for settlement visa or is it a simple process that I could fill in the forms for her?
2. I meet the financial requirements as I earn about 45k per year but to be honest I always tend to use my overdraft allowance so Im concerned when I have to submit 6 months bank statements. Could that be a problem?
3. How complicated are filling in the forms and gathering all the information? Ive been reading posts from others and to be honest its sounds confusing.
Ive been employed by the company I’ve worked for 18 years.
Would really appreciate if people could give me any advice?
Thank you all.

Perhaps it's 'automatic' for the visa to be issued for 6 months but that doesn't mean it's advisable or even possible for the visitor, what about her job and her son.
Can she get leave from her job for 6 months? Perhaps doubtful but who knows?
Do you want her son to be left alone for 6 months (very important question and perhaps it links to your possible future intentions for him, have you given any thought to this point. How old is the son? Who will take care of him, will he get the love and care he's entitled to - all children are entitled to? Is there some chance he will be thinking 'where's mommy - is she coming back)?
If your genuine there's lots of things to think about and some big decisions here?
She doesn’t have a job at the moment.
As for her son, he is 16 years old and lives with his father and his family, my girlfriend split from him for many years ago.
She still see’s her Son and supports him finacially and they have a good relationship with eachother.
Ive met him too, he’s a nice lad.

People from Thailand get visas all the time for the UK on their own merits. She would have had to fulfill all of the usual requirements for the visa just without a sponsor.
What was her reason for the holiday? Did she mention visiting anybody in the visa application?
Unless the visit visa questions have changed she would have answered the following questions. How did she answer them?
Family and Friends in the UK?
Family and Friends?
Please enter details of what you plan to do whilst in the UK?
Do you have any friends or family in the UK??
Relationship if yes?
Additional Information
Is there any other information you wish to be considered as part of your application?
Visa Confirmation Questions
Is the main purpose of your trip to visit/stay with a close family relative who is settled in the UK?
Do you intend to study in the UK?If she chose to, she, or the two of you wouldn't have to fly all the way back to Bangkok. You could both go to Turkey for a weeks holiday.
She didn’t mention anything about meeting friends/family or myself while applying for the visa. She just said she wanted to visit the Uk as a tourist for a couple of weeks.
I think for her she would prefer to fly back to Thailand, stay maybe a few weeks/month and then come back to the Uk.
Would this be better in they eyes of the ECO if applying for another visit visas in the future?
This way she could say she met me on her first trip to the Uk and decided she wanted to come back and be with me longer?
Would this be sticking to the rules better?
Thank you Rasg for your help

Hi all, I passed this topic to my Thai girlfriend to have a read and she has asked some of her Thai friends too. Now she is in panic mode thinking she will get future problems if apply for another visit.
Some of her friends have suggested that :
1.
She stick to what she told the ECO officer and take her trip to the UK from the 2nd May and return back to Bkk on the 14th May,
Stay a couple of weeks in Bkk and then fly back to the UK to stay here for a few months. She said she has a multi entry visa for 6 months which entitles her to come back, plus she is sticking to what she told the ECO.
Please could you let me know what your thoughts are in doing this.
Thank you

Wow. That's unusual. Do you know if she mentioned coming to the UK to visit you in her visa application?
No she didn’t mention me when she applied to the ECO
-
No I didnt sponsor her visit, she done it all by herself to get to see me in the Uk
-
Do you mean she could say that she met me whilst over in the uk this trip and that was the reason she stayed longer?
Thanks
-
She doesn’t have a job at the moment so the reasons to return are as I mentioned.
-
I didn’t have much to do with helping her get the visa but she has since told me that she informed the ECO that she will be taking a holiday to the UK for roughly 3 weeks.
Its not set in stone that she will remain here for the whole 6 months as im sure she might get bored as you guys say.
-
Thank you for your reply, much appreciated.
Her reasons for her return, are her son, land, condo and car.
I think the best idea would be to change the dates of the return flight once she arrives in the UK, sounds safer.
Yes I work, I do shift work 4 on/4off and will be using annual leave to allow us to spend time together visiting other places.
I should imagine most of her time will be relaxing, shopping, walking around and eating during the time I have to work.
Thanks again, most helpful. ?

Hi all, Ive just found out today that my girlfriend has been issued with her 6 month tourist visa to visit the UK.
I now have to book her flight ticket, I would like her to stay for the full length of time.
When booking the ticket do I need to book her return date back to Thailand say a couple of weeks after she has landed in the Uk and then change once she has passed through immigration? Or not worry about the length of time between arrival and return?
Thank you

Thanks all. Most helpful.
Just one more question, Is it ok to extend before entry stamp has expired?
Cheers
