The normal procedure is to apply on the first day in the morning and return the next day in the afternoon to pick up your visa.
So it takes 2 business days.
This is common at all thai consulates and embassies.
Vietianne is no exception.
.
So you're disputing what the OP said?

"Went to CW immigration this morning.....first day open after 10 day holidays."
5 days holiday, the 5th to the 9th is five days.

I only had a couple max. I wonder what his deal was?
Just an immigration officer not doing their job correctly. Their should only question people if they get an alert that a person has more than 6 visa exempt entries.
On the contrary, he was doing his job correctly. The OP told him he wanted to get a job and work in Thailand something a suitable visa is required for. He then used his discretion to allow the OP entry even though he was clearly in the wrong. The OP should be grateful.

I'm also looking for teaching positions. I tried to tell that to the officer as well.
Can't imagine why he could possibly be suspicious of your entering as a tourist, then.

"I only had a couple max."
"...I had many stamps and stickers from Thailand."
Make up your mind, which one is it?

I am pretty sure tourist police have no authority to cancel your passport and it was defiantly a scam.
Defiantly, yes, it defiantly was, definitely.

I do not have an answer for the question. But have a good story about wages and contracts.
The local High school had 3 english teachers they wanted to get rid of. They were paying them 32,000 baht. The second year they paid them 25,000 baht. The third year they paid them 20,000 baht. The teachers said pay more or we quit. The school took their offer of quitting.
You said that you had a good story, what happened to it?

She will be allowed to check in and then negotiate the UK Immigration process with an expired passport? Are you lot sure about that? If that's correct what is the point of giving a passport an expiry date in the first place?

If the death has been reported, which it must have been unless someone is trying to conceal it, the police will be informed and they will notify the Embassy. There is no need for panic.

There is an old and wise saying in Thailand that goes like this " Only bring to Thailand, that you are prepared to loose"
To loose? What does that mean? Never heard of that saying.

The answer to your question is that any individual non-resident (that would include your children) can bring in any amount of foreign currency without restriction. Officially, any amount over 20,000USD, or the equivalent, needs to be declared at Customs.

Forget it, it's a restricted occupation, reserved for Thais only.
