  1. Earlier this month, this article was posted in the Bangkok post.

does anyone here have any information concerning when this may happening?

I am a person that uses a waiver because my University degree is in History, not Education. i would like the opportunity to not worry about getting kick out after my last waiver runs out.

  2. Thank you for the information and your responses :-)

Unfortunately it looks as though 2 schools in 6 months = 2 waivers. cuts my time from a possible 4 years down to 2 1/2 years at the most.

sad story, 2 weeks ago i thought i could teach here forever becuase no one ever mentions this...

maybe i could stay if i decided to pursue a PGCE which as far as i can tell is not something offered in Thailand, just required. Teachers registering at schools in Singapore and Philippines to study the PGCE makes since but i don't like the idea of flying around all the time.

    Information at this website http://seetefl.com/tct-teaching-license/

    says the following:

Formal and Non-formal Schools in Thailand

Formal schools can roughly be defined as schools where students are placed in classes along with other students of the same age and follow the Thai curriculum as prescribed by the MOE (Ministry of Education). Formal schools can be government schools or privately run institutions.

Non-formal schools can be defined as schools that teach a curriculum that has some oversight from the MOE. They could be anything from a language to a cooking or a massage school made largely for tourists. These schools are exempt from the TCT’s requirements. For example, foreign language school teachers do not need to worry about the TCT’s requirements.

Interestingly, an agency is defined as being a type of non-formal school (there are many different categories and classifications). They may name the place where one works for them as a second location. As they (the agency) are exempt from the TCT requirements, the teachers they employ do not have to meet the TCT’s requirements either.

Anyone know of any schools that fit this description? that are not a cooking or massage school?

i would hate to have to work for an agency :-( but if that was my only option, which agency???

I was also just told from a fellow teacher that he thinks this Waiver doesn't apply to teacher at universities. Does that even make sense? true?

    Thank you for reading

  3. Today i received a message from a potential employer asking me how many teaching waivers i have. Embarrassingly i didn't know, and still dont. so today i sat down and did alot of research into what exactly he meant. (The Khurusapha (TCT) waivers and Teaching license)

In my ignorance i replied and the nice man told me to Scan some information pages from my passport and he can check to see how many i have.

    Okay, here is my question:

Where in my passport would it tell me how many, or if i do have a waiver and how many i have used?

    Thank you
