I spoke to them personally and explained that this was the only way I could visit my family as I am under 50, they said no problem, however if there was 1 overstay of even a day it would of been declined, I sometimes do not use the whole 6 months, maybe 3 months or 4 months too and I have never extended. The were very helpful and I guess they realise I have the finances to fly back and forth into the UK and pay the £125 each time.

They are not strict, I sent a statement to them and the statement was for about 3 months with at least 5K showing, I was having an issue with my printer, so thought <deleted>, I will send what I could. No probs got my 5th MEV in a row

I have just returned from London, and have received my 5th MEV back to back spread over the same passport directly after the previous visa ran out. I was a little worried so I went to the Thai embassy in London in person, I explained to them that this is the only way I can visit Thailand for this length of time, I told them as soon as I hit 50 I would be applying for my retirement visa, the staff were very friendly and understood my predicament, I was told as long as you stay out of trouble and never overstay by 1 day they have will continue to supply me with a new MEV every time I apply. I was still a little nervous when I arrived at Bangkok immigration as I was expecting a grilling for have so many in my passport, as it happens I was stamped through, no questions asked and on my way. I honestly believe that if you follow the rules and keep within the visa regulations (no overstay by even a day) you should never have an issue, of course it probably makes a difference that I fly back to my country of residence each time, but better to do this than take a chance with any of the Asian Thai embassy's spread around malay etc. I did not receive a personal data form that I have been hearing about on this forum.

I am going to apply for a METV at the end of June. Did you have to give the Embassy a letter from your employer stating your expected return to work date ?
This is a problem for me as I will be handing in my notice and they are only prepared to write a letter saying I am currently employed but they won't put an expected return.
No, just a letter of employment should be fine.

Hi All
Updated information about the new MEV application system
I have just received my new MEV from the London Embassy while I was in the UK, and the good news is it all was very easy.
Obviously this is my own personal story..................
I filled out my application with the following information that is requested
1 x copy of employment contract with UK employer(note copy not original)
1 x copy of proof of employment with UK employer (note copy not original)
1 x copy of my passport
1 x copy of P60 (I guessed this would be suffice as proof of resident
1 x copy of my GF address in Thailand (not hotel reservation)
1 x copy of bank statement
1 x copy of outgoing airline ticket (not return)
I sent this out in the post and had it back 2 days later, no fuss no problems.
To note
My passport already had 4 triple entry visas in it from previous couple of years, I believe from a contact I know at the embassy that if at any point there is an overstay of any length whether one day or 10 years etc, this will work against you, I had never overstayed and always departed on or before scheduled date.
So all worked out very well, even when I arrived at immigration in LOS the old chap was very friendly and wanted to chat about all things football, once I mentioned West Ham he laughed and stamped me in, always knew there had to be some benefits of being a Hammer
Reasonably easy if you are a full time UK resident. A copy of your passport?? I always had to send the original
Sorry meant a copy of the passport with the original !

Yep they do and it is something that they are very strict on now, they have already clamped down on overstays and are issuing bans. I was worried about the amount of MEV'S I had in my passport as they were all concurrent but the embassy assured me that as I was doing everything properly and had never overstayed they were happy to continue to do so.
