Be aware if your wife has been a permanent resident of australia for more than 5 years she will need a Resident Return Visa to re enter australia

I dont know under what circumstances a RRV would take months to be granted. My wife applied on line and e visa granted over night.

The argument to stat dec or not to stat dec was argued to death on this forum about 8 years ago and resulted in much mud slinging and verbal insults. DON'T GO THERE.
-
Just a couple of points to consider to further muddy the waters.
1/ An off shore partner visa application is considerably cheaper than an on shore appliaction.
2/ An on shore partner visa application takes considerably longer than off shore. (Presumably they are in no hurry to process it because she is already here)
3/ As she cannot wok until the partner visa is approved, it can be a long time between drinks i f you have to wait 9 months(fiancee) +12/18 months spouse visa.
My wife and i married in Oz on a tourist visa and then she returned to thailand to lodge spouse visa. Approved 5 weeks later. However that was 8 years ago and processing times have changed considerably.

Some of you guys should really cut Krisp a bit of slack.
If you have read as many replys by Krisp on these forums as i have you would realise he is not all that bright.

As per my first post.
Behind KALASIN MARKET.
Sorry unable to be of any more help as someone else on this planet may require some assistance.

Address Thetsaban 23 between Thetsaban 24 qalley andChai Sunthorn. Up from the 7/11 on other side. Wifey says EVERYONE knows Dr. Wised.
-
His english is ok although I personally found him a bit hard to understand.
From memory he gained his degree somewhere in the States.
-
Kirsty,
Root canal and crown plus one filling and total clean over 5 visits cost approx. 13500 Baht(420 OZ Dollars) although this was about 4/5 years ago.
Wifey didn't want me to go to KKU as she says there are too many students poking around in your mouth.
But your mouth up to you
P,S. Dr Wasid apparently also works in a hospital but i'm not sure which one. Therefore you should ring for an appointment as his practise is not always open.
-
Kirsty,
try Dr, Wised Sounthrarthornpipat just behind Kalasin market.

Bookman - you refer to the "Working Holiday Visa" - not that I've checked recently, but didn't it use to be only a one way street. In that Australians could get one for Thailand, but not the other way 'round? No longer so.I know of one girl from Chiang Mai currently working on this visa, although i dont know how easy it is to get. -
On a positive note i have known quite a few thais (both male and female ) when applying for a second tourist visa have been granted a 12 month multi entry, whilst only ticking the 3 month box. From those 12 month multi entry visas i have seen , none have had the 8503 condition.
Hope that helps.

Experienced VOA a few years ago (3?). No scams. No queues. Just a complete rugby scrum.

Will 27 is absolutely correct.

Using Merlins logic a multiple entry visa would be a complete waste of time as the visa would have expired before you could even think about a second entry

My wifes first tourist visa was a 12 month M/E WITHOUT the 8503 condition

A couple of internet shops in the main drag, at the front of the Somdet hotel. only 20 baht an hour.
Make sure you go when all the little grommets are in school.

And by the way we submitted no evidence to show she had reason to return to thailand. In fact they would have known she would have to quit her Gov job to take advantage of the 12 moth M/E visa. Also we have now been married 5 years

Shane,
Slow down.
Take stock.
Ignore pessimests.
Heed good advice (david48)
My story is nearly identical to your own. Our introduction was the same way. We corresponded for about 6 months by email before i bit the bullet and went over to meet her. I stayed with her family in isaan for 4 weeks getting to know each other while she alternated between working in the Gov, office and taking some time off to show me the sights.
When it was time to come home to Oz she came to Bangkok with me and we submitted an ill prepred visa application.
Fast forward 5 months armed to the teeth with evidence of our continuing correspondence, details of my finances and our wish to be able to continue our relationship, my prtner wqas duly issue with a12 month M/E visa.
We did not use an agent.
I did not at any stage send her any money.
Her bank account was minimal (it was not loaded up)
In my view the fact we had previously submiited an application only enhanced the strength of the application
Dont despair. 6months is a spit in the ocean, especially if your going over again in march. Cheers Bob

There doesnt appear to be any changes to the system that I can see, that would affect the waiting time.
Even the new processing centre in Brisbane would not affect it by that margin.
Embassy staff have told people this before, it appears to be some sort of attempt to reduce expectation.
Scotto, Was that by an Aussie staff memeber or a Thai one ?
Guys can anyone confirm that this 10 month waiting period is correct !!!!! - I rang the thai Embassy only 2 weeks ago and the automated recording said that a partner visa is 3 -4 months.
This could be a disaster for me
I think there may be some confusion regarding processing times between on shore and off shore spouse visa applications.
As far as i know , on shore applications take much longer as the applicant is already here on some sort of bridging visa so there is no real urgency with the application

my wife (then girlfriend) was granted a 12 month multi tourist visa. We subsequently purchased a BKK-MELB- BKK ticket with Thai airways open for 12 months. When it was time to return to thailand after the first 3 months I purchased a MELB- BKK -MELB ticket with Jetstar. The cat was set among the pigeons when she was returning to Melb. At check in at BKK jetstar staff informed her she may have a problem at melb and denied entry because she did not have a return ticket. PANIC and more PANIC. she rang her sister in BKK who rang a cousin in MELB who rang another friend who rang her husband at work who rang my work who contacted me by 2 way radio. I subseqeuntly was able to contact an immigration officer at Tullamarine airport (ithink it was the one with the turban you see on that t.v. show and had a less than satisfactory conversation.) All this while my partner is at 30,000 ft.
When partner arrives at Melb she strolls straight through. No prblem.
