I'm planning to get a tourist visa for my next trip, and once in Thailand, i will apply for a ED visa (in a border country, which on better?)
I am wondering how i to do with the plane ticket? I don't think i can get a visa with a 1 way ticket, and if i take a round trip, i would waiste my return ticket, as it would be for a 3 months trip. I didn't see any "open" ticket available.
How did you do?

Yes, you just go to the immigration and buy a re-entry permit for 1000 baht.
How about the obligation to attend courses at least 1 time a week?

I've noticed on forums like this that the layman usually comes up with the harshest punishment imaginable for most crimes. It actually makes me glad that that there are lawmakers, judges, etc. who see the right path and come up with fairer sentences.
I don't think the average person has a concept of what even a day in prison is like. We're talking about regular people who aren't hardened ending up sobbing like a little girl after day one. Most criminals go into jail as dangerous people and come out worse. And, that's not even touching on the "Bubba" effect, know what I mean?
I think if somebody gets 3, 4, or 5 years in one of these places they can easily come out very wrecked. And, don't forget that many of these people can't get work after leaving prison and they end up right back in there.
It's a pretty nasty thing to get sentenced like that, nasty enough that many people feel that it should be different b/c the harshness of it doesn't seem to do anybody any good, only harm.
Think about it.
That is just slavery after all. Who cares about the 600 lives messed up?
People who are doing this kind of scams should get what they deserve. You cannot sentence a guilty man on what could happen to him in jail.

Difficult to bond with a country that does not want to bond with you. My many brothers and sisters are waiting for my Thai wife with open arms, with no second thoughts. So if I get that job, I go asap.
Every farang here as a different experience. Generalizing all of us is quite an arrogant attitude to take.
And that is not generatizing, right? Or you just talk about the territory of Thailand?

Sorry for the double post

I fell sorry for the men, and even more for women who had unprotected relations with them without knowing, but...
Any link to Thailand?

Thank you both for your help.

Yes, I'm french and I'm usually using the 30 days visa stamp (I thought that
was a visa on arrival, my mistake) for my trips to LOS. But I wasn't sure I could get that stamp after I used a tourist visa few days earlier.

My next trip to Thailand will start end of november until end of february. So i plan to ask for a tourist visa and an extension to have 3 months stay permit.
My question is about a trip i'm planning:
In february, i may go to Hong Kong for few days but i still don't have flight ticket. I've heard that without that ticket, i cannot get a double entry visa.
So what are my options?
-Do i need to ask for a re-entry permit at immigration office before going to HK?
-Can i get a visa on arrival on my return from HK?
-Or do i need to get my ticket first to ask for a double entry visa?
Hope to get some help here.
Thank you.

Just riding around on my motorbike for one day in Thailand is enough to provide a year's worth of adventure stories by North American standards.
...
Actually, that is my deep feelings (but with European standards ). On all my trips to Thailand, i've experienced much more interesting things than all years i spent in my home country. And that is why i'm planning to live in LOS.
And i was talking about it with a friend who is living in Cambodia, and he was feeling just the same way.

And what about driving with a moto taxi?
Is there any laws about that? What should we have with us?

think the no's have it. when people come to Pattaya its reputation is renound world wide. its like going to disney world and saying you dont like to see mickey mouse.
Do you think the family tourists want a beach promenade they can't walk on with their children? They haven't voted and they are becoming more important here.
Don't post your poll here if you don't like the results.

Why not make Pattaya Beach Road a Thai-free place? It would so pleasant for the tourists.
I'm pushing a bit here, but that is my feeling.
Starting by throw away Thai girls from beah road (How do you make difference between thai girls seated and sex workers?), after it will be street vendors, as it will have much more of them there, after maybe moto taxis...
Every time i walk along beach road at night, i never had a problem with girls, working or not.
Why is it a problem to see girls seating on the beach road for tourist families? I didn't see any sign like "Prostitutes Here !!". Babies and child are only seeing women, no?
I don't think that these girls are harassing you if you walk there with wife and kids (as they don't even harass me while i'm alone or with a friend).
Anyway, sending sex workers in a place hidden in the dark will not solve the problem, it will make new problems. These girls will be insecure(I didn't say that they are secure now, but it would be worse), drugs problems will increase (if it can), and crimes will certainly also increase and maybe more violent, as it will be easier in the dark.

I've almost been pickpocketed in a song teaw in Pattaya, but that was from around 5 women, not ladyboys.
That is what you think they were...
I was waiting for this reply
I'm sure they were women as they were pretty fat and not well dressed. LB usually try to get as feminine as they can, these ones didn't even bother.

I thought that political instability would make Thai Baht going down...

There is a small floating market in Pattaya.

Is it me or there is a lot of crackdown going on recently?

There are some nice and quiet beaches at Koh Larn, no?

I do not know the official announcement, but that's my best guess for the coming days.
I will use the 2 holidays to visit a few temples (seriously!).

Actually the supervisor, you know those employees in the smart looking white shirts, made the correction in presence of the cashier.
My point was and is,if they make a mistake it can be corrected without a problem. If they make a second mistake on top of the first one and actually by a supervisor then when isn't it considered a mistake anymore but just a reprisal for the farang complaing about nothing. The customer service who finally gave me back the illegitimate charged amount could also have made a mistake by giving me back short.
But you would still consider it a mistake and keep running around the store trying to get what belongs to you.
Regarding your statement in this and previous post about the so low prices at carrefour, have you ever been shopping yourself?Everybody knows that carrefour is by far the most expensive supermarket in the region.
If you're so sure that it was stealing, why don't you go to court?
Don't forget to let us know what happen.
Of course it was 2 mistakes, the second was a big one.
If you want to fight stealing, you should keep your energy for those that are really intended. And there are some in Thailand, and elsewhere.

Are you all playing from Thailand?
Is is playable on a european server (latency?) ?
I'm curious because I'm playing Age of Conan (nice game) from my home country and as I will certainly move to Thailand around end of year, i would like to know if i will be able to continue playing.
Thanks

Thanks for your quick answer.
So I need a visa before entering Thailand, right?

Hello,
I am a bit lost with new visa rules.
So I hope someone can help me.
Next April, i will come to Thailand for 5 weeks (around 35 days).
For what I know, visa stamp at airport is valid for 30 days, right?
So I was wondering if i needed a visa before entering Thailand or if I can extend my visa stamp to be able to stay there.
Thanks.

For the tourist visa, i usually send my passport to a company that will take care of the application. If i remember correctly, they work with the Thaï ambassy in Paris.
Maybe Consulate or ambassy can issue visa without return ticket, but i read somewhere that it will be the airline that will not allow me to get on board if i don't have a return ticket. Is it false?
