  1. I just went to renew my non b visa but instead of giving me 1 year they gave me just until March, that is, when my passport expires. I didn't know it would be an issue because I thought the visa could be transferred from an expired passport to a new one. Was it my fault or is it normal?

Also, my WP will expire on 31 July next year. So does this mean when I go to immigration in March next year I will only be able to renew my visa for 4 months?? And then, in July when I renew my WP I will have to renew my Non B again? This is 3 non B visa renewals in 1 year, absolutely insane.

Just would like to know if I got screwed over at the immigration and what the procedure will be from now on, the same one I described or not. Thank you.

The message means your record could not be found. It has nothing to do with your reporting date.

Your next report is not due until after July 31st or later if the amnesty is extended. Immigration will announce when reports will be due after the amnesty ends.

Thanks for your response I appreciate it. If it has nothing to do with the reporting date, why last time I could do it online but now I can't? I also have to renew my non b visa by this month, so I just wanted to have everything in order before that.

    Moved top Visa forum.

To my understanding, with a WP you can return to Thailand BUT

    (1) May be hard to find a flight - most incoming international flights are cancelled through June at least

    (2) You will be put i  mandatory 14 days quarantine on return. So cannot go straight to work. Note this is state quarantine not self-isolation at home.

As for certificate I think only a "fit to fly" one but see what UbonJoe says.

@It seems Qatar airways has flights in their website and the quarantine won't be a problem since I will be teaching online. Regarding the fit to fly certificate is it hard to obtain?

  4. I have a work permit and non-b visa. I am in Bangkok now and I need to make a quick trip to visit my family in Spain from any time in June and back before the 10th July. I heard work permit holders are welcome to enter Thailand but you need a no covid certificate, right? Is it this hard to get? I do have work here in July so I can't get stuck in Spain or I will lose my job. Also, I was supposed to go there in April but Qatar airways cancelled all my flights. Thanks a lot.

  5. My contract, visa and work permit expire on July 31st and I was planning to spend 2 months back in my country 1st June - 1st August so the problem is that both the WP and Visa are expired by the time I come back. My university is willing to let me renew my contract before my holiday but seems like I have to shorten my holiday to come back one week before the 31st July to renew my visa and wp. Does anybody know if I can renew my visa and wp 2 months in advance? Thanks.

  6. UPDATE: So I went to inmigration in Nontamburi to try to cancel my visa and they required the termination letter which I don't have. They also pointed that I could be fined if the termination letter and the day I left the country didn't match.

So I went to my last agency, English Planet, and they told me some bullshit about waiting between 15 and 30 days to get the document (I think the truth is that they don't want to help me) and also I don't have that much time before my visa expires.

So on Monday I will go to Labour and I will get a document certifying when my last work permit ended. I think that my WP didn't expire before I left to Vietnam so I that case I won't be fined. This document should be enough to cancel my previous extension of stay.

I just post this for other people to know. I had no idea about this, no one explained to me so hope other people get the message.

You will likely require that letter to cancel your extension of stay so if you were here on that extension after the letter date of termination a fine would be likely I suspect - especially as this involves two different immigration offices.  But I could well be wrong.  But from above I read you returned using re-entry on old extension and stayed several months?

This not canceling normally is not an issue unless, as you have done, you want to work here again.  Although some exit points have stopped travelers from leaving Thailand until they actually canceled there extensions of stay.  And they found out by asking why they were leaving without a re-entry permit.

Is it possible to cancel the extension of stay without a termination letter?  I had some problems with my agency so I don't think they will be willing to help me now after so many months.

The rule is your extension of stay expires on the date your reason for its issue ends - for work that would be the day your job ends/work permit returned.  You are required to visit immigration to cancel that extension of stay - this has been explained in form you sign when the extension is issued for the past several years so that people would not believe they could continue to remain in Thailand.

Yes you lost the extension with an exit but you did not formally cancel at immigration as is the requirement for those ending work.  So now you are being asked to do that.  As stated above if you stayed beyond your work ending date you could have to pay fine.

How can they know if I stayed beyond my work ending date? I don't have any termination letter from my last school. There is no proof.

I did leave my job and went back to my country with a re entry permit for my Non B. When I came back in April my extension was saying stay permited until 27 Jul and on the 26th I went to Vietnam. How likely is it that I will be fined?

They are correct in a way since you did not cancel your extension of stay (it is not a visa) before leaving the country. The proper procedure is to cancel you extension by submitting a termination letter from you employer.

Where are applying for your new extension at?

Some offices have fined people for an overstay for not doing it which is 500 baht a day up to a max of 20k baht.

I am applying in the Goverment Complex in Bangkok. Oh don't scare me... I didn't over say. I left the country before the visa expired and came back with my tourist visa. I thought leaving the country without a permission of stay was the same as canceling all my visas.

  10. Before I was working for a school in Nontamburi with my Non B and WP. I left in July so after that I went to Vietnam to get a tourist Visa and then I got a job in another school in Bangkok. I changed the tourist visa to Non B and got work permit with my new school and today when I went to extend my Non B the officer in the counter told me I had to go to Nontamburi Inmigration to cancel my previous visa. I was shocked because that visa expired months ago and I already got my new Non B and WP with my new school in Bangkok. It makes no sense to me to go there to cancel something that has already expired.

Is this the normal procedure or I got unlucky? Am I going to have to pay any fee for this non sense? Thanks.

    A non-b visa only allows a 90 day entry.

Only an extension of stay would allow you to stay a year. An extension of stay ends on the date you job ends.

So since my school is paying for the Non B at least I will get 90 days extra for free right? And how do you get the extension of stay? Isn't it possible to go to Inmigration every 90 days and check in by myself?

  12. Yes they will ask you for a ticket....and they will want to see it.

They also will ask in Ho Chi Minh City for the same thing.

They may not want to see the Cash.....if you have a Thai bank account and bring the bankbook with you as proof.

However they will photocopy your Thai bankbook, and submit that copy with your application.

I know, I got a 60 day single entry visa, and that is my experience.

    Believe me.

This I the 4th time I've posted that info in the last two weeks.

Can I just show a bus ticket from Bangkok to Cambodia?

  13. I am going for a single entry tourist visa. In the requirements they say:

    • Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)
    • Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family.

But do they really ask for it in the embassy?? Or is it a question of luck? If they ask for it is there anyway or solving this without buying an air ticket I won't use?

Same thing about the bank statement. Thanks.

  14. With supporting documents from the new school you should be able to get a non-b visa without a problem. I can think of no reason for you to get a tourist visa first.

Bali might be nice holiday. There is a honorary Thai consulate there that would do the tourist visa.

I don't really know why... the reason must be that they need 60 days to do the application for the non-b. I can't remember, my non-b will expire next month. So is there a way of doing this without leaving the country?

  15. Hello, I have a Non-b visa but it is going to expire and according to the HR at my school I need to leave Thailand and come back with a tourist visa in order to change it to Non-B again with my new school.

Assuming this information is correct, I guess I can go any country so I was thinking about enjoying myself a little bit too, but I don't know any other country in South Asia.

Can I get some recommendations about countires in South Asia that have have interesting things to do or to see, or worth visiting?

I have Spanish passport and I would go by plane and by myself. Thanks.

Edit: I am into anything but temples!

  16. Yes same pier. Get on the Orange Flag boat. Central pier Sathorn. Stop N30 is Nonthaburi

Is the N30 stop near the immigration office? How much for the taxi from there? Thanks.
