Hi,
We applied for a settlement visa and my wife just got her visa but it reads...
Type Visa Spouse/CP - Spouse/CP of MyName
I've found a couple of threads but still confused if anybody knows please?
We have been married for 10+ years.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hey guys, that's great feedback ~ thank!
Beano, 10 years visit visa for the UK
We are resident here (China) and my wife and son are my dependents; so I should be able apply here right?
I've been through what I can but again which visa (form) should I be going for?
We would only be able to show savings held but how much would be enough, oh gosh...
ThaiVisaExpress - how can you guys help in these cases?
Cheers,
jeff

Dear All,
Have read the basics but still confused; if anyone can help please?
Worked in Thailand for 10 years, met wife 15 years ago, married in Thailand 10 years ago.
Moved to Tokyo where son was born who has both a Thai and UK passport.
Wife's Thai passport has my surname.
Wife has 10 year visit visa, expires 2020
Now in China but wish to settle in the UK from July where I want to start a business.
Which Visa please? Can I apply in China or must it be done in Bangkok?
Many thanks one and all.

Sorry Jimmy, I don't have an answer for you but I would be interested if offset could share his experiebce with it.We have the TV for 250 a month and were quoted 15,000 a year for the internet.
Just paid 890 a month for TOT for 4 megs - took them a month to fit it in by 3 visists to the post opposite the house. In Phuket we pay TOT 490 a month for 2 megs and that connection is twice as fast at this one at least - not happy, so would like to know more about this system too.
Also, can you connect it to a wireless router?

Hi guys and thanks again but my company says NO...I have to get Non-im B. Which means I will leave next week without a re-entry on my extension that expires in April 2010 (sob). Then I must get a non-im b from Hull and let the company take it from there.
I really wanted to keep my extension based on marriage for the reasons stated - that if the job goes belly up then I would still be eligible to stay.
Will my present extension be cancelled at the airport or will nothing happen?
Cheers, J

Thanks Guys,
What about the dates? My extension expires in April 2010 - will this have any impact on the length of the work permit? I'm not sure how that works?
Cheers, J

Thanks LiteBeer and ubonjoe,
So when the 1 year marriage extension expires then, I assume I could apply for another year based on marriage, keep the job and have the security you mention?
Cheers,
J

Well I'm in the same boat (I think) - I am living here with my family and have a one year 'extension' because my wife is Thai. It expires April 2010. I have just got a job starting in August and the company asked me to get a Non-Im B which I was going to do as we are going to the UK soon.
I went to immigration today to do a 90 day report and just asked how would I cancel my existing extension and then apply for a Non-Im B. I expected to just have to leave without a re-entry but no.. Immigration told me that I can get my work permit on my existing extension; I also rang Hull who said they cannot cancel any extension of stay issued in Thailand.
So the upshot is - don't need and Non-Im B..... I hope!

Hi,
I am trying to find out the legal drink driving limit here in terms of beers drunk (let's say small Singhas). I know it's variable on gender, size etc. but does anyone know a fair estimation? I.e UK is 2 pints (?)
I've searched but can only find in mg per litre or such which doesn't tell you much.

Hi,
I've just got a job in Pattaya with a housing allowance - I'm thinking the best thing to do is use it to buy a condo, preferably away from the nonsense.
Any recommendations or places to avoid anyone please? With a pool would be nice.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good honest mechanic in Chalong for my Honda Dream - it needs a load doing on it....

Hi,
Having read lots of threads on the spousal route to a one year extention - it's not clear to me about the "income"
Does it have to be shown as coming in each month into a Thai bank account? or... (as I read in one post) just be shown to be any income into say a UK account of that amount - which is then verified by the British embassy?
KInd regards,
Jeff
-
Thank you everyone,
Phuket immigration say Yes! As long as you get the required letter from the bank stating that the account is a deposit account - then any currency will do.
This will help as you can change to Baht when the X-Rate is a little more favourable.

Jeff

Hi all,
I read through the threads but couldn't find the answer to this one.
If I bring in some sterling into a Thai foreign currecy account at say K Bank - can this count towards the 800,000 needed for the retirement visa?

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good place where I can go with my laptop and get online in the Chalong area please?
Is the Green Man wired?

HI,
I believe it is possible to change a tourist visa into a Non-Im O at the immigration office - has anybody succeded in doing this?
If they won't do it, where would be the best place/country to get one from please?
Cheers,
jeff
-
Thanks both,
Time is a bit short now to get the non-Im from Hull but is possible I guess.
Is it easy to get the tourist visa 'converted' [is that free] and then apply for the marriage extension and what if they wouldn't let me do it... can you get a non-im 'O' from say Singapore or such?
Cheers,
Jeff

Hi all,
Am British married to Thai with one son holding dual nationality.
We have been living in Japan but are now on holiday in the Uk and going back to Thailand soon to settle.
My question is, must I get a Non - Im 'O' from the UK in order to apply for the marriage visa or can I apply [in Phuket] on a tourist visa?
Also, I am almost 50, should I try for a retirement visa instead?
Cheers,
Jeff

Dear all,
Married to a Thai, have a house in Thailand, been working in Thailand then Japan.
I now hope to start an IT consultancy serving UK and International education as well as offering various web 'systems' that clients would pay for and join online. We want to live in Thailand.
Is anyone doing something similar? I want to do it all legally but not sure where to start this business. If I register it in the UK then I can only work there [no problem but what about my 'online systems?']. Would you open a business in Thailand?
Very confused, all help appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeff

Thanks again 7by7,
The visa has been issued for 2 years and 9 months.
So it looks like this is beacuse of the new rules. Would she be able to apply for ILR as soon as we get there?
Cheers,
jeff
