Baht bus

I really am glad that I started this topic as is seems many people can and will benefit from all the helpful info provided . I'm shocked that so many people are using ATM cards and just drawing from Australia! 

I have joined all of these companies mentioned and I am shopping daily for the best deal before I send my money . 

I compared a transfer  of $1000 Aus today betweeen bahtsmart and OFX : there was a $4 saving using bahtsmart over OFX . 

26303 baht with OFX minus the $15 fee 

or 

26009 with bahtsmart . No fee .

they are all very similar . 

Note ; If you are using your Aus ATM here in Thailand you are ripping yourself hundreds of dollars over a year period if you calculate all of the fees and include them into your conversion rate . 

Last $1000 I drew from an ATM in Thailand converted to 24.4 baht , once you included the fee in Aus and the 200 baht here . when I can send $1000 and receive with any of these companies and receive up and over 26 baht Why would i line the rich banks pockets anymore . 

Ill help the small companies any day . 

I appreciate all of the information people have provided and for those still Using Australian bank transfer to try this method , as you can save loads of money . 

I have been using western union to transfer regular payments from my ANZ or Commbank til my Kasikorn bank here in Thailand for over 2

years and now I've encountered problems and both banks are not accepting any WesternUnion . The banks tell WesternUnion is renkown for fraudulent transactions..  I have even asked to have special requests to continue with my WesternUnion transactions but without any luck . 

I an lookng at other companies to transfer for my money as ATM withdrawals are far to expensive and an international transfer with any bank in Australia is literally robbery .

Has anyone used Companies like " Xe.com " ,' FXHi ' , ' Ozforex' , 

( OFX ) , or " worldfirst.com " just to name a few . 

All Of these offer a much more competitive Rate and the two Australian companies HIFX and OFX are heavily regulated in Australia . I know it takes around 4 business days once it leaves account in Australia before it lands here in thai . 

Would appreciate any input or experiences people may have encountered transferring money this way . 

Can anybody shed some light on braces being tightened / adjusted in another dental surgery ?

My partner has had her braces on for 3 years and was getting them adjusted monthly , sometimes would go as long as 3 months between visits . This is done by the same dentist in the same surgery and would cost 100 baht each visit . The braces were fully paid in the beginning .

My question re details refers to he treatment plan so to speak and can another dentist take over from where they left off in the last surgery . I obtained all x Ray's ,teeth moulds and written documents in relation to what plan of actin was to be taken . Surely another dentist can look at all of this , look in her mouth and tighten a few screws ? I mean that's their occupation right ?

My girl says no dentist wants to help and all want to start from the beginning . ( which obviously means $$$$ )

Has anybody encountered this scenario before ?

Or can someone recommended a shop to purchase small screwdrivers and pliers .

My girlfriend has moved to Udon Thani and is now looking to have her braces tightened in a new clinic locally . Does anybody know if this is possible to transfer the particulars to a new dentist ? Can anybody reccomened a good dentist in Udon Thani either way .

In the past i assumed 3 people every day 500bht thats 15000 month food and drinks,1500 ac electric,500bht water,1000bht school snacks and after school money and the other 7000bht she could do whatever she wanted with it including transport costs,medicine,cosmetics,parents ect.

Thats a lot more than just giving enough money to exist or live the same as her neighbours.

Looks like i have a greedy girl and she's not going to win by extracting more money for no reason other than she thinks she can.

Neither am i going to leave her and miss out on having a good relationship with my son over money issues and throw a 5 year relationship away.

Sadly , this kind of behaviour happens all over the world .

Australia for example .

King hits , or 'cowards punches' they are now called , have clamied the lives of many young men in the past year alone . These are proven in court to be Non provoked and for absolutely no reason , single blows to the head that ended innocent victims lives .

Go to any major city in Australia late at night and you will often find gangs of thugs who will bash you for your wallet and phone . No need to get verbal with these men , or women I might add ; they will bash you for no reason .

This behaviour of course happens in Thailand . It's a combination of being uneducated , poverty stricken background , little or no money and just not giving a <deleted> about tourists . A few bad eggs will spoil the lot for all the tourists and it's generally the drunk / drug affected gronks who get targeted .

I've seen numerous times a drunk farang become a target to the Thais and they basically become hunted . As soon as they out one step out of line it's an excuse to bash them and take their possessions.

And by th way Thsnkyou to the above who recommended hotels close to the Australian enabassy in Sathorn . I conducted my business , spent two nights and had a pleasant stay . There was no hassles from drunk farang a trying to pick up my girlfriend, no girls or LB's trying to offer me there services and I didn't have to stay in An area renowned for creatures of the night .

I guess I should have re worded my post as to girlfriend friendly area .

Iv been with my girlfriend 1 year and I don't go to red light areas , I certainly don't want to be in a hotel where guests are coming and going at all hours bringing back lady's . I have had to go into certain areas with lots of farang and they are rude towards my girlfriend , constantly starting and making rude comments or gestures to their friends or directed at my girlfriend.

I should have said , please help me find a hotel where there are no sleaze bags trying to eye off my girlfriend thinking she is prostitute .

Hi , i have to spend a few nights in Bangkok and visit the trendy building / Austrlalian embassy .

I realise this area of sukhumvit is full of girls / guys trying to pick up girls . I'm not interested in the girls and im not in the mood to be hassled whilst I'm with my Thai girlfriend .

Can someone recommended a hotel close to this area which is clean and around 1500-2000 baht per night .

I am unclear which dialect these words are and was just assuming these words were issan .

Me personally , I would like to learn standard central Thai first , then tackle issan later .

I once found some study notes online where it was very easy to learn the Thai word (written in English ) then the English meaning . I can no longer source this info and was just looking for anything to help , where its not going to cost me too much .

my girlfriend teaches me a lot but , for some reason I think she is not very patient in her approach , not sure if that's her personality or just her education level. At the end of the day I'm keen to learn .
