So I went to the small office at the Nong Khai border crossing. They said it was a mistake, entered something into the computer, manually corrected the date and told me to fill in the visa number on the arrival form next time.
Then when I came back the immigration office took almost 10 minutes to process my passport. Asked me to show him the non-b visa, and had his colleague help him. So it seems not only us farangs are confused.
Oh and it wasn't a border run this time either, it was a vacation.
-
It wasn't a border run. I was visiting my son.
But yes, I never did put down my visa number on the arrival form. So it could have been that.
Thanks guys for all your help.

Your multiple entry visa would not be canceled because you got an extension.
See my previoust post.
Yes that makes sense. But what I don't understand is why immigration gave me 15 days at Poipet instead of 90 days. Did the immigration officer make a mistake, or could the visa have been cancelled some other way?
Because when I arrived at Don Muang, right after getting the non-b visa, it correctly states 90 days on the stamp.
-
I have a multiple entry non-b visa, but I have never done the 90 day reporting at the BOI. I did however get my work permit on the 25th of May, with the extension of stay stamp stating it's valid until 9th of May 2017.
Does that mean I have voided my non-b visa?
-
I am starting to understand this now.
I do have an extension of stay from 25th of May, which I would have to do a reporting on around today, which I assume is still valid as my work permit has not been cancelled yet.
But. What confuses me now is that the latest entry stamp I have is from 5th of August. And since it was by land, the stamp says I have until 19th of August to leave. Is that a mistake by the immigration officer, not realizing I have a non-b visa? Or is that just a standard stamp one can disregard?
-
But this still doesn't make sense from what all the other people are saying here. Like that you have to either leave the same day the WP gets cancelled, or pay 1900 baht for a 7 days extension. Is it because it's BOI and they have different rules?
-
So all I have to do is to leave the country every 90 days? And it doesn't matter if it's by air or land right?
EDIT: I just spoke to BOI who confirmed the above. He also said no need to show immigration any papers.
-
Yes I do have an extension of stay stamp in my passport issued on the 25th of May, which must have been the day I got the WP.
I did leave the country and I came back on the 5th of August. Does that mean I'm not overstaying starting from tomorrow? I've already given back my blue WP book to my employer, so I cannot do any reporting now can I?
So if my work permit gets cancelled, immigration will see that and ask to see a note from my employer? Is that correct? BOI didn't tell me anything about that.
-
I have a multiple entry non-b visa issued on the 4th of April, and used at the 9th of April this year. So clearly that is more than 90 days. But I have never done any 90 days reporting. In fact the 90 days reporting should have been done today.
Does that mean I have an extension of stay?
-
I have a WP that is not yet cancelled, but I have never done any 90 days reporting. Can I exit the country and apply for a 60 days tourist visa? Or will the embassy refuse to issue me a new visa if my company hasn't cancelled the WP yet?
Specifically this would be at the Thai embassy in Vientienne.

No, it does not.
But the redshirt shootings, grenade throwing, threatening of dividing the country and the threats to make a volunteer army, did.
In other words, working up to a civil war.
Short of memory, are you?
I am not in favour of any coup!
But I am afraid there was no other option.
A flawed and misused democracy is not the best way to keep the peace.
How was the Thai democracy flawed? And is Thailand any less corrupt now during the dictatorship? Just admit you don't like democracy already.

He also provided a plane ticket back to my home country that was only a reservation (not having the ticket number on it), and they refused that. He did mention he could create an actual ticket, then cancel that for a fee of around 20 USD. But it wasn't clear whether I would have to present that ticket on arrival at the airport in Bangkok. Most likely not.

I can corroborate this - visited 2 agents and went with Lucky. Both were happy I had no overstays and did ask. The first guy (close to the guesthouse) was calling someone on the phone, repeatedly, to check different options, so I went to Lucky instead (who know what they are doing - and maybe he was calling Lucky). I had the option of either ticket-out or bank statements. I provided bank-statements; they will call me if the consulate wants a ticket, as well. I'm going to be here for a week anyway, so did not go for "rush" service.
I don't know Lucky. But I went to the place that most people here recommend. Riverside, a place right next to Paddy Bar (or something like that). Around the corner from the Red Light district (I found that out when I had to go and make passport photos, yeah really, lol). Anyways, he said he never had that problem before.
Would you provide a bank statement from your home country? I'm thinking me providing a bank statement from a Thai bank is just going to arouse their suspicions of me working without a work permit (if that's indeed going to be the case).
Please keep us posted.

90 day reporting has no connection with your permission to stay. If your permission of stay hasn't been cancelled, which you would know about, then they will process your 90 day report as usual.
How will I know when my permission of stay has been cancelled? Would the BOI contact me when my employer cancels the work permit?
-
My bad, I meant the 90 day reporting. What I should have said is:
What happens if I go for the 90 days reporting and the BOI has been cancelled? Will they just refuse and let me pay for the 1 week extension?
-
I did Google this before posting. And I couldn't find any other people having Visas refused due to prior overstay. Could this be something new in Phnom Pen?

I was refused a tourist visa because I still had a valid non-b. But the woman also said I had overstayed before and now needed an onward ticket to my home country and a bank statement. Anybody else get this treatment recently? Is this something new happening at the Thai embassy in Phnom Pen?
-
OK so the gist of this is that when I sign the papers I have to go straight to the airport and do not pass go. Have my WP book plus my resignation paper ready?
What if I can get my employer to say they let me go at a later date, but I accept they only pay me until the day I resigned? Would that be legal? Because I am not really liking this GTFO the same day, especially since I don't even know what day I will be signing the papers.
-
So I'm in the process of resigning and I'm finding the rules a bit confusing. Looking at my passport:
1. I have a a single entry non-b visa issued at Phnom Penh embassy on the 4th of April
2. I have a note telling me to notify immigration on the 22nd of August.
3. I have a stamp from immigration I have a multiple entry NON-IMM visa valid until the 9th of May 2017.
Now when I sign the resignation papers, will the non-b visa become invalid that day given I have never notified immigration due to just getting my WP recently? Or will it be valid until 9th of May 2017?
If it does become invalid the same day. Can I just bring my WP book and my resignation letter and pay any overstay fee at the airport instead of paying the 1900 fee at immigration for a 7 week extension?

So pretty much everyone will work on Monday then. Thailand, never ceases to amaze.

My boss claims that Monday the 18th of July is not a compulsory public holiday. Is that true?

Hang on, so a Russian guard outside the US Embassy thought it would be a good idea to attack a diplomat for no reason whatsoever?
That's his job. Anybody rushing by security without identifying themselves should be forcefully stopped. Had it been a terrorist trying to get past and he hadn't forcefully stopped the person, you Russian bashers would complain he didn't do enough.
Amazing how easy fooled people are with this anti-Russian propaganda.

Crosswalk are useful only when there is a group of people crossing. Then they generally stop. So their reasoning is probably that pedestrians have to wait their turn.
Lost stamped departure card when applying for work permit
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I've looked everywhere and I can't find my stamped departure card. I already have a non-b visa valid until next year and just about to apply for a new work permit. My company says they need the stamped departure card scanned alongside my passport.
Would that be for the actual work permit they require that or for a new/extension of the non-b visa?
Is a scanned departure card something you can go to the immigration to get? If so, where would one go in Bangkok and could I get it in one day?
