  1. Hi guys,

I recently met a China investor who is interested to expend his business in Thailand. He used to be my company's machinery supplier for many years.

Here's the issue i am a Singapore Citizen Holding a Work Permit in Thailand.

How should i go about starting a Company since both of us are Foreigners. I read online stating some business for some Nationals can start up a Individual owner company.

We are looking into selling Imported Machinery. I called up some Agency which i cannot get a firm answer.

If anyone has any experience on Registering a Individual Owner Company or Know agency that deal this, i'll appreciate the comment.

    Thanks

  4. Thai retirement visa is the best, its easy to get and allows you to easily open bank accounts or purchase assets in thailand.

Rent in regional thailand is cheap, studio apartments are 4,500 per month, small condo apartments are 8,000 per month and decent houses with euro kitchen and bathroom start at around 17,000 per month.

Decent houses with Euro kitchen and bathroom start at 17000 per month

Really? Either you have no idea or are being ripped off

For 17,000 rent in Ubon is a ripped off. decent house should cost not more than 10K in upper country.

  5. I hope 150K will teach him a lesson. I won't be surprise that one day he will run out of options and overstay his visa due to financially problem and ring up his family for help to get him home. While his Happy GF will be laughing and smiling to another Guy. Welcome to Thailand.

    Grow up Kid

Just because you may have been stung by your Thai girlfriend or partner, doesn't mean it's gonna happen to me. Get a grip old man, we're not all as stupid.

Tell this to yourself when you have nothing left in your pocket.

I am not a old man and i'm sure i would be at most 10years older than you because if you're anything less than that you'll wont be allow into the country alone.

Yes i am 28 this year, Never been stung by my Thai Girlfriend because i got married 5 years ago. i don't even need to explain to you all these but all we're doing is that your Idea suxs and with your kind of EQ you won't succeed. At first i still think maybe you might if you work Hard enough. But from the way you speak the way you handle conversation i know you won't. What i'm telling you is that it takes more than 6 months to know the Country and definitely much more than 6 months to know your girl. Some people just fall for everything the girl says in your case i bet you won't make it out of the country without your bank account emptied. Good luck anyway would wanna see if it work out for you.

  6. Follow your dream buddy , and let me know when you take them rose tinted glasses off

If he can take his learning lumps for $5,000, he's $$ millions ahead of a lot of business geniuses people who've left Thailand Asia with their tails between their legs. And anything he learns running a bar in Thailand will serve him running a ___________ (fill in the blank) in Thailand.

I wish my Chinese learning lumps had only cost me $5,000.

Well I'm only young and I may as well make a go of it. I originally came to Thailand and did a TEFL course, then planned on starting a teaching agency business with a friend but didn't really stick to the plan because we were both going out getting drunk most of the time. I've done a bit of travelling also and I never wanna leave Thailand, I'm happy here.

I was unfortunate to lose a close relative quite recently and receive a fair amount of inheritence, which is why I have the cash spare at the moment. I've spent a good amount of it already, travelling around Asia etc which I don't regret at all, well for the most part. Now I'm looking to settle somewhere, preferably away from Bangkok. Bangkok is where I live now and I loved it here at first, I've been here for 6 months, but now my heart is set on moving to an island.

Just trying to do the right thing and be happy.

How can it possibly be a right and happy thing while you're making a wrong decision.

If you're telling me you invest 150K for your GF to take care of the Bar and you'll find a job which offers you a WP then i'll tell you it's ok. At least you're are not crossing the boundary. But have a TR visa and looking after a Bar is the worse idea ever.

  7. 150k THB to buy a lesson. I really hope for the best for you but as of now i don't see any future of a bar owner not being able to fork out 150 k for refurbish.

Of cos with this money you'll not be able to start up something by your own.

And most importantly you'll have to find a way to work legally Thailand's Immigration now days are strict and they won't accept bribe from someone they don't know. It's fire that you're playing with.

There's a few unexpected scenario that you might want to think of before getting you hands into this.

    1. What if they already lease these place to another buyer. After collecting money both side they vanish ?

    2. What if after they collect your money let you get your hand on a few weeks and report you to the immigration?

It's not 1990's where money solves everything here in Thailand and you can forget about your partner helping you out when you get into trouble. If i were them i'll pray that immigration deport you.

I am not telling you that it won't work but weather it's worth taking the risk.

How long have you been in Thailand and how well do you know Thais.

    How many actually succeed

Who are these people you are dealing with.

Hope you'll be the exception who can succeed but i will recommend you to not get yourself into trouble.

    Good luck

  8. It really depends, I don't believe the fact that there's a sure fail business. It's all about planning, marketing, managing and profit making.

    1. What makes your Bar stands out ?· Price / music / atmosphere

    2. Planning & Market research. When is the peak and what to do during Low season with no tourist.

    3. 1 common mistake i realize about Farang Bar Owner is that they do every thing just to Earn money from Farang. * Don't forget about the Thais, During Low season you'll see Thais Traveling from Bangkok to Nearby Province on weekends. Your business should attracts both locals and foreigner.

    4. Last but not least Think Twice if it's worth the risk and do you really need the Bar? I'm sure it cannot offer you a work-permit. A tourist should do what a tourist do take the 1M you are going to invest and think of what you can do with these money. Although to some people out there it might not be a huge sum of money, but it can really someone's life. Won't want to see anymore Homeless Farang sleeping on the beach because his wife took all his money.

OH and i forget this important part. If you are going to lease a bar and the Last thing you want to trouble? I'm telling Trouble is the first thing you'll get into

  9. Nice !! I know what it feels like overstaying for years.

Sometimes it's just out of our control with so many things happening at the same time and Visa will be the last thing we consider.

Good that you're back now! I believe with this much of relief now you'll never overstay your visa again!! Good Luck

Actually your Visa and Immigration status should be the first thing you consider.

Without it you cannot stay here legally or take care of your family etc.

It certainly is my number one priority.

A shame others do not think the same.

Then i think you have not been through the worse. Or maybe you started off well but that's a good thing and i agree Visa is something very important.

Just that sometimes people have to lose something to realize the value of it. I believe now OP with cherish the 2nd chance given to him. But for those who are still out there on Visa overstay these people i really don't understand. The immigration has given enough time to prepare & clear it, Well maybe they just don't care.

  10. Quite Ok spending.

I Spent about 45K/mth + (15k/mth as savings for travel and unforeseen circumstances) without that much of comfort . Maybe because i have a wife and Kid.

On weekday we take Thai Food & Home Cooking.

    Insurance about 4K (2 person)

    School fees about 5K/Mth

No Rent only utilities about 5K Include phone bills and internet.

    Fuel about 5K

Daily expenses takes up the rest.

But still we are able to go out for movie & dinner over weekend and once in a while travel to province near Bangkok for short Holiday.

But for a foreign Expat in Bangkok to spent 15-20k / Mth is nonsense. It can be done but that way you're not Living life. You are spending days waiting for the day you die.

Do you know? A Motorcycle Taxi Driver can earn up to 1400/day Deduct the fuel and maintenance for his bike lets say 400/day

He can earn 25k/Mth for him working only 25days. So as an EXPAT or Even Tourist, How possible is it to spent 15-20k Per Month?

Good for you for managing your budget. Sounds like you have a pretty good life.

With a wife and kid it must not be easy.

Thanks, Only 1 golden rules don't spend more than what you earn. Many of my colleagues use half of their salary to pay the Min amount of pay back to their credit card. Others pay installment for their 3-4 Million baht imported car. For me i believe these thing doesn't add happiness into our life. I would like to have one of cause but if i need to change my life style or ask my wife and kids to save up then i think is not worth it. I am happy with my life and will work hard to maintain these happiness. Good day:)

  11. Yap Try Grab. But i tried booking advance 1 day but normally no response as the system will sent the request to the Taxi Near you at that moment. which means it might not be there tomorrow. Maybe can also try Grab Car. those are private car owner but not sure on this Big day how many will work.

  13. can try Bangkok Air a little more expensive but they did not have any problem with me. i gave them my new passport with no stamp on it they didn't ask a single question.

Regarding the WP thing Don't trust employer that say you need to pass a probation period before they issue WP to you. That's from my personal experience.

But i understand sometimes Expats are left with no choice than to believe them as getting a Job in Thailand is not easy. Try to Push them Harder don't sit back and wait for things to happen and definitely don't allow yourself from Overstaying again.

    Good Luck
