  1. When visiting Mae sai, is it again possible to obtain a day-pass to visit Takilek (Burmese town opposite Mae sai) ?

I saw that to go to Myanmar (with visa),  the Myanmar authorities require a max 48 hours old covid test + test at arrival, is it the case too to go to Takilek from Mae sai (no visa , just day pass), or a vaccination certificate is sufficient?

Thanks for any current info, in order to schedule a visit there (or not) in the coming months.

That really makes no sense unless they want a contact number while in Cambodia. Perhaps try enter a phone number for a hotel. Are you sure they send a SMS since it does not state it has to be a mobile number.

I suspect it is done by email

I was told that they send a confirmation number by sms to validate the application, however as I did not complete the application myself I can not confirm this point myself.

If there is only email confirmation then using an hotel phone number can be the solution.

I will try myself in a few months for my planned Cambodia trip.

You can apply for a visa for Cambodia online. See: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/

No quarantine when if fully vaccinated.

You might want to apply for a tourist visa at the embassy in Phnom Penh that would allow a total stay of 90 days with the 30 day extension of the 60 day entry from it. They are not using the e visa site for applications. Info for a tourist visa is here. https://phnompenh.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/tourist-visa-tr?page=5d73b14415e39c46f40076a1&menu=5d73b14415e39c46f40076a2

A report of doing it is here. https://aseannow.com/topic/1250875-visa-run-to-cambodia/

He applied for a non-o visa at the embassy.

A remark concerning www.evisa.gov.hk: to get a visa there you need to provide a Cambodian phone number (the site will sms you a confirmation code), so for most tourist that do not have a Cambodian sim card the site is just useless.

  4.

If you are correct this would be a great new for me and others!

Ziphonb, could you tell us latter if you managed to get an extension based on marriage without the need to change your visa from non-imm B to non-imm O or OA?

This would surprise me but I certainly wish you to succeed (and then I may do the same myself latter, with retirement instead of marriage as the justification for the extension).

    Thanks in advance.

  5. If the poster is currently staying with a non immigrant B visa, this visa will expire as soon as he quit his job/retire. There is no "change reason for extension" option there as only a work permit allows for extension of non immigrant B visa.

So his question on how to switch from non immigrant B to non I visa is valid. Before the covid crisis it was in theory not possible in country (maybe allowed in some immigration offices?), You had to go oversea.

I think it was possible in country during the height of the covid crisis.

I do not know if it is still possible currently, please tell us later how/if you managed it, I for one will be interested as I will soon be in a similar situation.

  6. Same here, on thai airways website you get all the info related to international flights, but nothing about domestic flights.

I want to find the requirements for flight bkk-chiang mai and back, but it seems the info is nowhere to be found.

is a vaccine certificate needed? If you have an european vaccine certificate, can you use it to board a domestic flight ???

  7. Yesterday I came back to Thailand coming from France:

    - the Thai embassy in Paris told me clearly by email that "the requirement is that the Report date\time has to be no more than 72 hours before departure, not the sampling date". I suppose they do this because they know that it can be dfficult to take the test and get a MD to certify the result within 72 hrs of flight departure (my interpretation only). I do not know if other embassy have different requirements / require a sampling date <72 hrs.

    - all your paperwork is carefully checked before departure and at arrival in BKK, I do not know if a test report 75 hrs old (for example) would still be accepted, however I would not take the chance.

    - our departure was delayed because one passengers was refused access at boarding (after checking in: they had to unload his luggages), I suppose due to an issue with his documents, so clearly that can be the result of improper/missing paperwork.

  8. the statement "If on a extension of stay based upon working issued by immigration it would end on the day your job ends" is of course correct.

However it can be noted that it is up to the passport holder to go to the immigration office to have his visa cancelled, he then has 7 days to leave the country (his non-immigrant B visa is cancelled and a 7 days permit to stay is added to his passport).

A few years ago I heard about someone (not one of my direct acquaintances) that was in this situation. He did forgot to bring his passport to have his visa cancelled, and used it for more than one year to go in and out of the country, even through his work permit had been cancelled. At the end of validity of his non-immigrant B he left the country for good.

Of course I do not condone such behavior, however I do not know how immigration could have detected that his visa was not valid anymore and I am not sure what type of legal risk was involved in his action. Should any board member be more knowledgeable I would be interested to learn more about this legal risk (if any?).
