    I bought a Panasonic 44" TV in Bangkok in 2006. 44,000 baht. Still works fine.

    The quality IS the same. The difference is because different builds of similar models are sold to markets because of climate factors. Bigger vents, higher tolerance to humidity, etc.

     

    "In Europe, they couldn't get away with selling crap with... blah blah blah..."

     

    In my experience, it's the Europeans that get the castoffs and older tech models in all aspects of electronics from phones to TVs.

    Like many posts on this thread (so, not just yours) you come across as having a blinkered and negative view of your surroundings and most other expats living in Thailand. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm not criticizing you for your 'opinion'. Actually, to a certain extent, I can empathize with those views... 

     

    In a nutshell, you are living a virtuous and rewarding life and people who don't are worthless! Is that about right?

    I have a comfortable rotation of visitors over the course of the year and none of them are aware of each other. Or, if they are, they're smart enough to not mention it.

     

    And there are many reasons why I live this way.

     

    1 - I prefer to be alone for most of the time.

    2 - I quickly tire of sex with just one partner (as they do too!)

    3 - Having hired guests works out cheaper than one fulltime 'employee'! 

    4 - The times I do see them are much more fulfilling and enjoyable.

    5 - I prefer the company of young people and I am old.

          (Energy factor, mental and physical.)

    6- I'm too selfish and busy to be good long-term 'boyfriend material'.

    7 - Everything I own is where I last put it!

    8 - I have no interest in adopting the friends and family of a long term partner.

     

    I could go on...
