  1. Take a look at Rockwool ceiling insulation.  It works as a great sound barrier/absorber, and will have the added benefit of insulation (keep cool air in) and is a fire barrier.  Also, water will not destroy it, because it will not absorb, but eventually drain off.

There is a specific type for ceilings. Make sure you ask for that and specify your main goal is soundproofing.  You can also use it for wall insulation to achieve the same purposes.  Google Rockwool in Thailand for info. It is sold worldwide, but I believe they have some manufacturing in Thailand.

  2. Hmmm... too bad Seri Thai dealership did not respond.  Come to think about it, I did have a Thai speaking person do most of the communication with them.

We put on a premium window film, back-up camera, garmin maps, and a few other minor changes/options.  They handled this without any issues.

  3. Bought an XV in 2015 from the Subaru dealership at Seri Thai in BKK. The dealership was great to deal with, both at purchase and for follow up.

Couldn't be happier with the car. Originally was planning on the Forester because of the impression you have panoramic visibility. Eventually decided on the XV because it is more suitable for Bangkok driving, and also had a hard time justifying the price differential. At the time, the Forester was imported from Japan, so the premium was high.

I really enjoy the ride of the XV. The AWD grabs the road, excellent for Thailand's suspect roads. Gas mileage is good, but not as good as similar size vehicles; the price you pay for the AWD.

Anyway, highly recommended. If you do lots of highway driving, the Forester might be a better way to go, especially now that the prices are not so different.

  4. I have just upgraded to TRUE fiber optic service (15/5 speed).  The speed works as advertised. However, when I turn on a vpn service (tried three different ones), the speed drops such that video is no longer watchable. This was not an issue before the new service; the old service and modem/router worked fine.  Unfortunately, I need the vpn to fool my cable and streaming services geolocation.

Does anyone know if there are changes I can make to the modem/router settings to resolve this?  The modem/router is a ZTE ZXHN F668.  Or if not, can I replace the modem/router with another unit and connect to TRUE without the throttling?  Or, is TRUE somehow throttling all service if they can detect a vpn use?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  5. I know this is an old thread, but just thought I would add comments, since I have been looking for high-end audio equipment. Here are a few centres with a good concentration of high-end shops, usually at least three or four minimum.

Fortune IT Mall (Third Floor?) on Ratchadapisek

    Crystal Design Centre (CDC)

    Amarin Plaza

    Central World

    Siam Paragon

    Cheers
