  1. It is uplifting to se that Thai immigration do the best to spread the Wuhan virus to as many persons as possible.

Have just passed the passport control where you have leave your fingerprint on a finger pad that is not cleaned at all.

I mentioned to the officer that I had just shaked hands with all passengers passing his boot today but he smiled and said 'No problem'

I wonder if he meant that it is no problem with infection if you get it from the Immigrations new biometric system or no problem because you are leaving Thailand and therefore you are not Thailand's problem any more.

  2. >>Total BS. The Euro is as much down to THB as the Pound is.

    >>Brexit and a massive trade deal with the US will strengthen the pound. The US$ has been relatively stable against the Baht.

The drop in Euro has been about half of £ over the last few years.

According to Pound Forcast, € and £ will be on par in May/June 2022 at 30 Baht per unit. After that £ will drop below Euro.

But if somebody right now, tries to forecast the weather in May 2022 they will probably have a bigger chance of success.

(Unfortunately, it looks like 'Pound Forcast' have been mostly correct the last few years, but that might be pure luck)

The only positive thing I see in this forecast is that people who deposit 800000 Bath seems to get a nice profit in a few years time.

I gave up Thailand some years ago and bought a condo in Siem Reap, also here we have been hit.

When I started in Cambodia € was nearly 1.40 to the $ and right now it is 1.12 so I can feel your pain.

  3. Some ISPs (Internet Service Provider, including TRUE Internet) uses Transparent DNS Proxy which causes Smart DNS Proxy not to work.

Transparent DNS Proxy is used by the ISPs to intercept DNS lookup requests (TCP/UDP port 53) and transparently proxy these data packets to their DNS servers. Unfortunately this forces your PC/Mac/Modem/Router to use your ISPs DNS service rather than Smart DNS Proxy.

If you have a DD-WRT router or any other router uses Linux OS you can bypass your ISP's Transparent DNS proxy using your routers custom firewall rules. This way our DNS servers will run on different TC/UDP port.

In order to do this, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your DD-WRT router and and select Setup and then Basic Setup.

    2. Scroll down to Network Address Server Settings (DHCP) and Enable DHCP.

    3. Change Static DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8. Change Static DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4.

    4. Disable Use DNSMasq for DNS.
Scroll down and Click on Apply Settings.

    5. On your DD-WRT control panel, select ADMINISTRATION from the top right section. Then Select Commands from the tabs below.

    6. Paste Followings to the Commands Shell > Commands section.

    iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i br0 -p udp --dport 53 -j DNAT --to 23.21.43.50:1512
    iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i br0 -p udp --dport 53 -j DNAT --to 54.229.171.243:1512
    iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i br0 -p tcp --dport 53 -j DNAT --to 23.21.43.50:1512
    iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i br0 -p tcp --dport 53 -j DNAT --to 54.229.171.243:1512

    7. Click on Save Startup. If needed Paste the above code again and then Click on Save Firewall.

Reboot your router and then every device connected to your dd-wrt router will be benefiting from Smart DNS Proxy even though your ISP does transparent DNS lookups.

23.21.43.50 and 54.229.171.243 are DNS servers given to you by your SmartDNS supplier.

It is a little bit complicated but worth trying if you use DD-WRT routers.

    Good luck.

  4. Using VPN will nearly always slow down your Internetspeed.

If you want to use VPN only to pass geoblocking I would suggest you use Smartdns in stead.
Using Smartdns you get the highest possible speed between you and the source you choose to see.

You can read about it here: www.smartdnsprovider.com

  5. You need a photo in the correct size and 30$ in good quality notes. I was through in 30 minutes a few weeks ago.

A tuk tuk cost around 7$ and takes around 15 minutes to town. Many hotels have free pickup service on request..

    Enjoy your stay.

  6. Well, I can only tell you what I am doing with a similar setup in Cambodia.

I use a TP-LINK TL-MR3020 that I connect to the external WIFI signal (your ISP). (Using the WISP Client)

I have the DHCP activated in the TL-MR3020 and making shure it is on a different subnet than the ISP.

When connecting with one of my computers I am asked for the Login and Password of the WIFI internet supplier.

After logging in, all my other computers, tablets and smartphones and Chromecasts have access to the Internet.

The trick is that it is the TL-MR3020 that is registered as user at your ISP, and that all access from all your computers are being registered as access from the TL-MR3020.

I am going to test the setup at a friend in Pattaya around the 9th of January, and if you are interested I will inform you if it is working.

PS. you can do the same trick with any router using DD-WRT firmware

  7.

I do not mean to sound disrespectful but that picture looks like it has been lifted off a nursery wall.

    Well GAZZPA

That was the basic idea behind the COBRA manifest.

COBRA was objecting/antipathy to the surrealist paintings that were in fashion around 1950, it was a unifying doctrine of complete freedom of colour and form, and I love your observation 'lifted off a nursery wall'
Is so good, that I don't hesitate to compliment you for your brilliant observation.
