I have no experience with a retirement visa in Cambodia, but my friends tell me that it is quite easy to get.
Concerning banks, I got my bank accounts more than 10 years ago. It was easy to get an account at that time, and I opened accounts in 7 different banks.
There have been no problems with the banks but currently, I only have 4 remaining banks. All my accounts are in US$.
1. ABA
https://www.ababank.com/
is the most popular bank among my friends (local and expats) in Cambodia. The bank covers all types of bank business and is probably the most progressive all-round bank with a good reputation. It is a subsidiary of the National Bank of Canada.
2. KB Prasac (my favorite)
https://www.kbprasacbank.com.kh/en/
Excellent for fixed accounts and plain bank accounts. Transferring to other Cambodian banks is free and instant, using the Bakong transfer system.
The bank is owned by KB Kookmin Bank, one of South Korea's biggest banks.
They give at the moment 8,25% on 12 months fixed accounts.
3. Hattha Bank
https://hatthabank.com/
Hattha Bank is a subsidiary of the Thai Bank Krungsri.
Krungsri is a strategic member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), Japan’s largest financial group.
You can get 8% on a 12-month fixed account, and they have a money-on-demand account called HYSA account where you can get up to 5%
4. May Bank
https://www.maybank2u.com.kh/
Malaysia's biggest bank.
I use that as a 'safe haven' and for transfer to and from Cambodia.
All the above banks use Bakong,
https://bakong.nbc.gov.kh/en/ is a very excellent, free, domestic money transfer system. There is a 14% tax on interest for foreigners, deducted before the interest is added to your account.
Where to live?
Well, I started in Phnom Penh but got tired of the traffic and chaos. 5 years ago I bought an apartment in Siem Reap. It is much smaller but has a big expat community and lots of exciting restaurants. It is probably Cambodia's most international city.
I like Thailand, but I love Cambodia.- 2

I have been using a Danish Visa card with a 4 PIN code. It was working in both Thailand and Cambodia.

This is a reply to "Transferwise Charges if you cancel a transfer."
We have 2 problems.1: exchanging from one currency to another currency2: transfer money to your Thai account. You don't have to do the two things at the same time.In Wise you should make two balances,1 in your currency for example £and 1 balance in Thai Baht.Send your money to the Wise £ balance. When the rate is good, convert to Thai Baht. When you need to send Thai Baht to your Thai account, just send the Baht from your Thai Baht balance. The transfer takes between 5 and 10 seconds.(at least it do that for me, I use Kasikorn Bank)An extra bonus is that you don't have to pay the 200 Baht Kasikorn fee because Kasikorn sees the Wise transfer as an inland transfer.By the way, I love my Wise debit cardI have balances in Dkk, US $, Euro, and Thai Baht.If I pay something in US$, Wise will take it from my US $ balance, if I pay something in Thai Baht my balance in Thai Bath is used.It is very useful, and I love to save money because I can convert when the exchange rates are optimal..- 3

It is uplifting to se that Thai immigration do the best to spread the Wuhan virus to as many persons as possible.
Have just passed the passport control where you have leave your fingerprint on a finger pad that is not cleaned at all.
I mentioned to the officer that I had just shaked hands with all passengers passing his boot today but he smiled and said 'No problem'
I wonder if he meant that it is no problem with infection if you get it from the Immigrations new biometric system or no problem because you are leaving Thailand and therefore you are not Thailand's problem any more.

Well, I can only tell you what I am doing with a similar setup in Cambodia.I use a TP-LINK TL-MR3020 that I connect to the external WIFI signal (your ISP). (Using the WISP Client)I have the DHCP activated in the TL-MR3020 and making shure it is on a different subnet than the ISP.When connecting with one of my computers I am asked for the Login and Password of the WIFI internet supplier. After logging in, all my other computers, tablets and smartphones and Chromecasts have access to the Internet. The trick is that it is the TL-MR3020 that is registered as user at your ISP, and that all access from all your computers are being registered as access from the TL-MR3020.I am going to test the setup at a friend in Pattaya around the 9th of January, and if you are interested I will inform you if it is working.PS. you can do the same trick with any router using DD-WRT firmware

I do not mean to sound disrespectful but that picture looks like it has been lifted off a nursery wall.
Well GAZZPA
That was the basic idea behind the COBRA manifest.COBRA was objecting/antipathy to the surrealist paintings that were in fashion around 1950, it was a unifying doctrine of complete freedom of colour and form, and I love your observation 'lifted off a nursery wall'Is so good, that I don't hesitate to compliment you for your brilliant observation. -

The Cobra is so well know in Scandinavia among educated people that no further explanation is needed.
It stands for COBRA (or CoBrA) was a European avant-garde movement active from 1948 to 1951. The name was started around 1950 from the initials of the members' home cities: Copenhagen (Co), Brussels (Br), Amsterdam (A).Most famous danish member is Asger Jorn.Cobra-inspired....Sorry vinniekintana, but education has never hurt anyone

I have just called (the 15th June, 12:03 CET ) a Cambodian friend living in Siem Reap to find out what is going on.
He told me that the rumours were that Cambodians should be out of Thailand before the 23rd of June or they risked to be killed by the military.
He knew personally many friends working in Thailand leagelly, and they were all coming back before the 20th just to be on the safe side, if the killings should start before the 23rd.
He was dead serious.
I told him that my Thai friends had not heard the rumours. His reply was, better to be safe than sorry.
There were also circulating some videos on the Internet showing Cambodians being attacked by Thais, but he had not seen them, so that is probably a false rumour too.

I have several times been using http://www.insuremytrip.com to find the best offer for some Cambodian friends visiting Thailand.
It has been working perfect, but of cause one need a incident before you know how well your insurer treat you.
It is easy to compare prices, and the paperwork and payment is made over the Internet.
