I'll give you the same advice I gave in my previous thread: don't leave via Don Muang if possible.
I left from Don Muang two months ago with a 700 day overstay and got blacklisted. Two other people (South-East Asians) were waiting behind me in the tiny immigration office behind the checkpoint counters to also receive a blacklist. The immigration officer was rather loud and I was able to overhear what she was telling them, which is how I know that they were going to get blacklisted as well: one for a 6 months overstay and the other for an 8 month one.
Basically, it looked to me as if being blacklisted with any type of overstay (over 90 days) is pretty automatic at Don Muang.

Emails are routinely ignored in Thailand. If you wrote it in English, there's also a good chance whoever's in charge of the account doesn't read English well and just deleted it.
If you want to get a reply, either ask a Thai speaker to call them or post (in Thai) on social networking sites.

Thanks to the people who replied to this thread!
As a side note, just in case someone who is currently on overstay wanders into this thread, my advice would be to exit via Suvarnabhumi, not Don Muang if possible. Based on what the Immigration officer told me and what I saw (two Asian gentlemen also received a ban for shorter overstays while I was in the Immigration office there), being put on the blacklist is pretty much automatic at Don Muang. Based on what I've heard, it's not always the case at Suvarnabhumi. -
Hi peeps,
It's a bit of a long story, so I'll just give you the short version: 2 years ago, I suffered a back injury which cost me a ton of cash (I had Thai medical insurance, but back issues were a preexisting condition). Due to that injury, I fell into a deep depression and spent the next two years staying in my apartment 99% of the time (some sort of agoraphobia thing, I guess). Due to the financial and health issues, I let my visa slip and ended up on overstay.
My back and depression issues being now over, I decided to take care of my overstay. Last month, I left Thailand via Don Muang and received a 3-year entry ban due to my 700+ days overstay. I now live in Vietnam.
Does anyone know if it is possible to appeal an entry ban from abroad, and if so, how? I mean, I can wait out the three years if needed, but if there's just a chance for me to be allowed back into Thailand, where my friends are, I'd sure like to take it.

This thread basically reminded me why, despite having lived in Thailand for five years, I barely ever visit this site anymore. It seems like old, bitter, racist idiots make up the majority of ThaiVisa's membership.

After working in the hospitality industry here in Thailand for years, it seems to me that many people in this forum are sadly mistaken about the state of the tourism industry over here.
In all of the hotels I've worked at (4-5 stars), 90% of the clientele are couples and families. Only 10% are single male travelers. Those 90% also tend to spend a lot more on average than the other 10%, at least within the confines of the hotel (spa, food and beverage, excursions, etc...).
The same is true on the other end of the spectrum, in very cheap guesthouses. Those tend to cater mostly to groups of young people or young singles who typically can find sex without having to pay for it and mostly tend to hookup with other foreign travelers anyway.
That leaves the 2-3stars hotels, which are where most single males stay. In such hotels located in tourist destinations, it's about a 50%/50% ratio, with 50% groups and families and 50% single 30y+ men. I sincerely doubt, however, that travelers who can't spend more than 1,500 to 2,000 baht/night for accommodation spend a considerable amount of money while they are outside their hotel.
Edit: Those ratios apply to places where I actually have hands-on experience (BKK, Phuket and Samui). Pattaya, on the other hand, probably has a much higher single men ratio, but that's only one town out of about ten major tourist hotspots in Thailand.

Strikes me as insane in these heady days of elevated rights for minorities, that Minor Attracted Persons are still persecuted. In spite of all the lobbying and attempts throughout the western world to legitimize and respect people desires for sexual activity with children - it is tolerated mainly in liberal Afghanistan(google Bacha Bazi). Perhaps a HRC double bill will give enough time to roll this out properly - after all every other perverted act has gone from illegal status, to tolerated, to legal, to being rammed down our throats at every opportunity and positive discrimination in favor of perverts.
You seem like a lovely person.

Penniless, homeless... this is clearly the kind of high-profile international criminal that was depicted to sell this new crackdown to the public.

That's because Asiatique, the large open-air market next to it, only opens in the late afternoon/evening.
The Asiatique ferris wheel has a dual-pricing scheme in place, by the way *sigh*.

I really don't mean any disrespect to anyone, but someone should explain to me why any foreign person who relies on a wheelchair/motorized scooter to get around would want to settle in Thailand. The sidewalks here are horrendous and most buildings lack ramps that would be needed by handicapped people to access them.

As far as I know, pawn shops here don't sell stuff directly to consumers. Most of them sell unclaimed items in bulk to second hand shops, who are the ones who have to display and sell the items.

Well, to answer the OP's question, you guys basically mentioned two of my favorite cuisines: Italian and Moroccan. French cuisine can be quite tasty as well, though.
-
God, this is scary.
And it happened on a Saturday afternoon too. Like the guy says in the video, I really hope no one was in that cabin.
-
In the past hour, several people on Twitter have posted pictures of a fire at the new ferris wheel that got installed at Dinosaur Planet in Sukhumvit (next to the Emporium).
According to the pictures and videos, the fire is located in one of the cabins. None of the people who have tweeted so far have mentioned whether there was someone in that cabin (let's hope not).

The whole "We want to catch those criminals!" line is getting really old when each week brings a new rule or crackdown against foreigners.
First, it was the overstayers: "Most overstayers are criminals hiding in the country!". Obviously untrue, most overstayers are just people who fell on hard times. Not excusing, just saying.
Then, it was the people on a married visa: "They marry Thai women just to be able to stay in the country a long time and commit crime!". Obviously false as well.
Now, it's "Hey, we need to be able to track you online or track your bank account without a search warrant because... errr... we want to catch criminals".
If people are missing the real point of all those "crackdowns," they may want to go get a brain scan.

Farangs famous to Thais that most expats have never heard of

I don't understand... Based solely on what I read on Thaivisa all these years, social media is just a waste of time used by lazy Thais and people who make money online are all backpackers who earn $5/day.
