I don't think celebrating birthdays in a traditional Thai thing, my wife's family don't celebrate thier birthdays unless we suggest something, the only time I can recall presents been given is at the new year. My wife and I normally do something special for our birthdays a meal or overnight trip.

Sounds like this guy does not venture out of Soi 6. 95% of Thailand has an open appeal to Farang both male and female, I think his time warp has been kicked abit.

Any ideas?

I know that your meant to work at the locaion given on your work permit, but I have been here three years working on a work permit and just after I joined the company asked me to find an addtional location which I did, its been registered as a sub office and I now work here, I never gave it any thought to change the work permit and if challenged I would say I'm visting for the day. As long as the sub location is offical I think it will be fine. As regards working from home I'm not sure anyone would know your working at home? you might just be sick.
As regards the holidays, i'm not too sure, but there are strict rules about what can and cant be done for areas like overtime.

I found this on a NHS website, its looks as if "emergencies" would be covered, I think they are trying to cut out where you come here for non emergency treatment.
"Both NHS hospitals and GPs have a duty to provide free of charge treatment which they consider to be immediately necessary or emergency, regardless of whether that person is an overseas visitor. It should be noted however, that being registered with a GP, or having an NHS number, does not give a person automatic entitlement to access free NHS hospital treatment"

I live in Thailand and I have a QROPs pension, based in the Isle of Man, my pension advisor has told me that the changes to the UK pensions to make them flexible will be applied to the QROPS schemes, but sofar I have seen nothing and a troll of the internet does not show much information on the subject, I think my advisor has been miss-informed. Any help would be great

I see that Sky News is available on the first Apple box, I have this box but dont see Sky TV, is it provided with another service?
I like the Apple box but it lacks program content, so I use iLike TV which is great and available on Smart Tv (via web browser) Apple devices and PC, which I find very useful.

I have been living in Thailand for nearly three years and are about to retire and so was thinking about going back to the UK for a holiday, I was wondering what would happen if I became seriously ill while away, as I read somewhere that now I'm out of the UK and have no financial ties that I would have to pay for it or take out insurance. Can someone confirm?

I don’t think this is any surprise in view of the escalating global terror threats, they clearly feel this approach will help, but I’m not so sure you’re going to capture any real bad people these will have little or no visibility fomaly, using ATM, cash and false documents, I’m sure none of them will fill in the form.
But what they do with the information is of concern as I don’t trust any government to hold this data in a secure way, this is just another possible way of some hacker stealing the data and money that we have worked hard for.
International Driving Permit. Quick Update

Can I ask about the IDP, my understanding is this was only necessary if you don't have a Thai driving licence and were using a European one, but not living in Thsiland.
I've been living driving here for 5/6 years and had a couple of accidents and stopped at check points and no one wanted to see a IDP only a (Thai) licence.
