  1. i would not think of using e-bay.

do the same as the english guy .

i live in holland and there are plenty of markets here, i could sell in my spare time.

my wife(thai)is over here and has nothing to do just now as she is waiting for her residency permit to come through so she cannot get an official job, so the idea was to import silver and sell at a profit.even if i cannot get rid of all the stock i would still be left with the silver so i dont think i can loose.

i meant lose , not loose

  2. the reason why i asked the question was that a english man came to my wedding in thailand last year,(didnt know him, he came as a guest of a friend of a friend).

i only chatted to him for a short time as i had to "mingle".

anyway when i tried to get back to him he had left.

the story he told me however is as follows,

he stays in thailand for 6 months of the year, prior to his departure to the uk he visits chang mai , buys 25kilo of silver items ,exports them to the uk , he pays the duties on them ,17% and 2%, and sells them at markets in the lancs area.

he told me his profit is 600%

whether or not this is true is debatable, it depends on the actual cost of the silver, but i have been looking at silver items in holland and even if i had to pay $1 per gram,i could still make at conservative profit of 100%

  3. There are many. What do you want to make?

    thanks for the reply.

i do not want to make anything, rather to buy silver bangles, chains rings etc at wholesale cost toexport.

  4. thanks again for all the replies.

    the work is finished now.

i didnt go for the first day of the landfill, but on the second day i got there early and stopped all the work and told the ganger to get his boss down, he arrived about 30 mins later when i asked him for a price for doing the job , after another 30 of haggling, i agreed to pay 50,000 bht.

i had 52mx30m raised 1m and 52mx20m raised to road level (approx 250 cm).

there was 1 digger, 2 ,six wheel trucks, 1,4wheel truck and a tractor to level off.

i could see for myself that they went a lot faster once the price was agreed, and i could also see that there was more earth in each lorry when they were doing it on price as opposed to lorry load.

    again thanks for the replies.

  5. I agree with Opothai. Two weeks ago I bought 40 truckloads (4 cubic metres per load) of dirt to extend a road on our land. They had to haul it about 2 kilometres and I paid 250 baht per load and that included a tractor to spread and compact it at no extra charge.

On the other hand if you don't buy from this guy when will another chance to get so much dirt appear? I bought the 40 loads because it was convenient. Originally I had planned to hire a backhow and dump trucks to get some dirt from a willing neighbor but there have been problems in hiring the backhoe so I figured I'd pay a bit extra for those truckloads but at least I would be making progress instead of just waiting.

maybe you are right, it is 70,000 bht but that includes compacting the earth as well and it is over in 2 days.

    thanks for the replies

  6. could anyone help me .

i need some land filled (approx 2500 sq mtrs)

filler quotes me at 350 bht per load, x 200 loads.

    total price 70,000 bht

he has to travel approx 1 kilometer per load and can do it in 2 days.

    good or bad

  7. thanks for the replies.

no i havnt been to issan yet, but my wife is from that area and she wants to return to live there.

myself i have one more year to travel to europe then come to thailand for good.

i am not too bothered where i make my base as if i need a change i can always go away for a couple of weeks.

i know from her the sort of place she comes from, i just wanted a little info as to what would be a sensible form of work.

i have played with the idea of buying rice crops(together with my brother in law) and buying and raising cattle for a couple of months before selling on, just to give me something to do.
