Anybody in the Thai government paying attention to science? Maybe those doing the advising have a conflict of interest? Propagating more fear instead of celebrating Omicron as a "highly effective vaccine" in itself, due to it's relatively low symptoms is baffling to me. Mds, scientists and virologists ALL agree now that Omicron, except for those with comorbidities, is no worse than a bad cold AND if infected, gives those infected robust immunity. Bill Gates on CNBC even said:

Gates said that in many places that was due to virus itself, which creates a level of immunity, and has “done a better job of getting out to the world population than we have with vaccines.”

In an interview with CNBC's Hadley Gamble at Germany’s annual Munich Security Conference, the billionaire said the novel coronavirus has spread to enough of the population that the "risks are dramatically reduced because of that exposure."

The omicron variant, first discovered in South Africa, spread like wildfire in the United States after it was detected around the holiday season. Gates said that the strain, which is known to cause less severe disease but remains highly transmissible, has beat out health officials administering vaccines to the public and infected individuals. 

“The chance of severe disease, which is mainly associated with being elderly and having obesity or diabetes, those risks are now dramatically reduced because of that infection exposure,” he said.

Thai government officials appear to be lagging behind the news and need to stay up to date on the actual "science".

Notice this is the same person from the same university every time saying that we can't open up the country again. This is a blatant conflict of interest at this point and nobody's noticing.

 This is the University that's creating the vaccine and this person needs to be investigated as to whether he has alternative motives for locking down the country and causing such financial devastation to the people by not allowing things to open up based on false information. 

 It's basic REAL data now that he should be aware of that now shows that the rising cases are in direct proportion to rising testing in many countries including Europe.

If you look at the ratio of cases versus deaths all around the world , the death rate has almost fallen to zero as far as a percentage of the cases that he is citing as a reason to continue to destroy Thailand's economy.  Somebody needs a forward to this to this man and let him see it. If he's in such a high and respected position he should already be aware of this information and if he isn't then that says a lot about who should be advising regarding these matters. If he is aware of this information and he is still crying out that people shouldn't come then he should be investigated clearly and simply. A genuine conflict of interest by definition.

I find it hard to believe that nobody, including the Prime Minister, can see the conflict of interest when it comes to his advisors and their recommendations.

The data clearly shows the "surging cases" are do to surging testing. For the large percentage of these "cases" are NOT symptomatic and have antibodies so they aren't a threat to themselves or others (see announcement of likelihood of asymptomatic transmission by WHO).  The fatality rates continue to drop as nations reach their herd immunity status so cases should not be the metric in this equation.

So how much is it worth in Baht to make people wait in fear until a vaccine is announced and available? Coincidence that they advise to wait? Who benefits by waiting and destroying the economy more and removing tourism income from the GDP when the COVID-19 is ONLY dangerous to a defined group of people that can be protected?
