  1. To be honest, you won't! They are the pest from hell if you have certain types of fruit - i.e. Mango / Rose Apple or similar. I have tried all sorts of different fixes including the Thai professional growers chemical sprays for the fruit trees and despite spraying fruit trees weekly, these damned things still get into the fruit and destroy it.

The only method I have seen that actually works is the laborious one where each individual fruit is wrapped in paper and then bagged in a plastic bag and stapled whilst still on the tree.

I have had literally hundreds of kilos of Mango / Putzah / Rose Apple and Bananas destroyed by these pests.

As previous posters stated, getting rid of their food is a start, but if you have any fruit trees around your place, they will be back.

You may try out some chemicals and if you find anything that works effectively please reply and let me know as I have tried many different chemicals and nothing keeps them away. (Thais seem to have a few different names for them too - Meng Wee and Meng Thong are common names here)

    Good luck!

In this case it was clearly not out of control, she just could not be bothered about it, until too late.

Agree, also her Thai partner (Husband? ) father of the child could have quite easily have helped her apply for yearly extensions, and he and she would not have had to dance through the financial hoops that all of us here have to do each year.

Sorry but no sympathy from me.

It appears now that Immigration WILL BE HAPPY to accept my original documents from 17 years ago, I DO NOT NEED to go and get the KOR2 or Kor3 that they originally requested. (The Flowery "Happy You Are Still Married" Certificate)

They accept that as the marriage was carried out legally in a Royal Thai Consulate, that it is effectively "On Thai Soil" and therefore is valid!

  4. I was hoping Ubonjoe would be around this evening to try and clarify a few points regarding extensions of stay.

Applying for my extension this year I am using a lawyer / agent, but to be honest, I think he is under the thumb of immigration, he asks for 3 times more junk than immigration (for instance - previous applications they asked for a photo of me and my family at home - this usually consisted of a single photo of me, my wife and son, we duplicate it and pin it to the application - worked fine in the past)

This guy asks for 4 photos, two of the house " With Number" and 2 with family. OK, I send him what he wants, then he e mails me wanting more photos (all in electronic format so he can print them onto an A4 paper - which immigration would never accept before, they had to be actual photos.) So now he has 12 different photos, as some sort of neat Photoshop collage.

I think I covered the other point in my rant the other day about the Amphur Marriage / Family crap flowery paper, however, from what the Amphur said, YOU CANNOT REGISTER A MARRIAGE AT THE AMPHUR THAT IS ALREADY REGISTERED - i.e, my original certificate of marriage and marriage registration are valid and cannot be re hashed at the amphur???? (this is the Kor2 or Kor 3 document - you cannot get Kor 3 without Kor 2, and you cannot get Kor 2 if the marriage is already registered, another catch 22 in the realm of fools

Next point, the lawyer told me that I can only (This is supposing my wife was to die before me....looking more likely everyday)  apply for an extension to support my Thai child up until the age of 18. Now I thought that the age is 20? Anyone care to comment? (The immigration documents I find say 20, and are in line with land ownership and being classed as an adult)

Lastly, he told me that after the age of 18, if I was no longer married to a Thai, my only extension option was to seek a retirement visa!

I am sure, absolutely sure, that I have read elsewhere and that Ubonjoe confirmed that a Thai child can sponsor me in some way if I lost my wife due to whatever reason, i.e. being beaten to death for stupidity! - Yes, joking.

But seriously, how much of the lawyers spiel is real and how much is down to licking the butts of immigration?

If anyone can clarify the points I mention I would be greatful.

An added bonus would be the Thai points of law that could back any of this up so it can be taken to a higher level rather than argue with the automaton on the desk at immigration.

    Cheers!

And just adding to my previous RANT - They used to have a ticket machine where you could get a queue number, they disabled / unplugged it, then they STAFFED it with a 14 year old kid, then they unplugged it again, hence sitting in their <deleted> car park at midnight just to get in the damn queue! No wonder I have high blood pressure, maybe with a bit of luck an artery will pop in my neck at Promenada and soak the lot of them in blood!

Chiang Mai Immigration has to be the absolute worst in Thailand, it is like they are trying to grind you down till you give up, why can they not organize like Bangkok? It is a complete Shitfest up North.

Have you registered your foreign marriage an an Amphoe yet? immigration will want a Kor Ror 22 marriage registry that is issued when you do it.

Never registered at any Amphur, never been asked to. It is not a FOREIGN MARRIAGE, it is a THAI marriage carried out by the Royal Thai Consulate. It has been good enough for immigration for 13 years! Look at the documents, they are THAI.

Joe, that is exactly the point I am making, the Amphur crap relates to people married in a non Thai environment, i.e. churches abroad etc. But this is a LEGAL THAI document.

Quote "Section 1457. Marriage under this Code shall be effected only on registration being submitted." - It has been submitted and it has been registered. i.e. the Certificate of Registration Of Marriage.

Personally, I think that immigration could be legally challenged on this one, on two fronts -

1: Are they now trying to say I am not Legally Married?

2: Why did they issue me 13 years of extensions based on marriage?

It is the sheer frustration generated by these Stalinist pen pushers, it drives me mad!

Year after year they want a bit more blood, they want to grind you down.

When I first came here they were just changing the law from 250K to 400K for marriage, then they changed the law to require a joint account with your wife, then they changed the law that the wife no longer had to sign over any land to someone else if she married a Non Thai, then they changed the rules about the bank accounts, they no longer wanted a joint account only in my name, then they wanted the money seasoned for a few moths, then they wanted photos of the frigging house, then it was photos of the house number, then it was the 90 day report (previously never did one for 4 years and it bothered them diddly shit) now it is the TM30, and now the marriage certificate, and now again it is the stupid bloody photos, they used to accept one photo of me and my wife (some were even taken outside Airport Immigration Office - when I forgot or they introduced a new law).

They were quite happy with a copy of one photo of me the wife and son outside the house.

Now they are asking for 4 bloody photos, which I supplied, (Showing me and my family standing outside the house) This now apparently isn't good enough, they want 8 photos of us posing around the frigging house, along with shots of the house and now the bloody surrounding land!!!

    <deleted>, when is enough enough?

The <deleted> won't accept a map of our home from Google - they want you to draw it, and then they say it is not good enough and need landmarks!!

What do they want a <deleted> Cartographer?

These people are insane and drunk on power, they need to be removed and replaced by HUMANS!

  6. I have just been informed today that when I apply for my extension to stay based on marriage later this month that the Immigration at Chiang Mai require some sort of "Flowery Bordered" certificate issued by the local Amphur as proof of marriage - In fact the translation to English was "Family Document" whatever that rubbish is!

I have been married for more than 17 years, legally, by a Thai Government Office - The Royal Thai Consulate General that issued me with two certificates all red stamped and legitimate. (see attached files - personal info blanked out)

The Immigration have accepted these certificates for the past 13 Years as valid documents, they actually do not even want a copy of the A4 document, they only accept the "Long" version.

Are they seriously able to deny my extension application based on the lack of some flower emblazened crap from the Amphur?

Seriously, I am getting so fed up of this rubbish and never ending paperwork crap that I might even be willing to take this issue to a Thai court, just for satisfaction against these pathetic little STALINS!

Anyone else had to put up with this rubbish? Take a look at the documents - THEY ARE LEGALLY BINDING! CIVIL AND COMMERCIAL CODE, SECTION 1457!

Surely they have no right to reject these, they are above the jurisdiction of immigration, they are Thai LAW!

(And Yes, I read enough Thai to know some of the documents are arse about face!)

if a falang person owns his house via a company . and his falang girlfriend comes and stay at this house , Does the falang owner have to fill in a TM30 form for Himself  and his girl friend ????? if not him who  does ?

You probably need to fill it in for your girlfriend, and you probably won't make it in 24 hours so they will gladly accept your 1600 Baht anyway.

There was a couple of Americans there today, a guy had picked his father up from the airport yesterday and the dad was staying for a short holiday and the son dragged him down to the HELL Promenada, on his first day, they had 23 hours under their belts and applied for this rubbish. The guy applying was sent back home (100KM drive) because he didn't have his passport!

Not only do they want the money, they love to MAKE IT HELL!

No wonder this country will suffer compared to Cambodia and Vietnam, they are just pushing paperwork and making shit for everybody. Can you believe they try to make an excuse that this is some form of counter terrorism? IDIOTS!

  8. Well, not confused anymore.

Make sure you take your 1600 Baht as that is all they are really interested in.

Went down to that Hell Hole Promenada today, spent 1 hour getting a reprint of my 90 day report, lost in the post. The Cops in that little office are a breath of fresh air compared to the hate filled venom spewing vermin on the front desk, especially the fat Sumo of a pig that sits right on the right hand side of the information queue...she should have been plunged into a bath of boiling oil the day she was born / launched!

Got to Office No. 4, it is for reporting DEATH and 90 Day by post, it is way down on the left hand side of the main queue. They were busy rigging up a conference call with their bosses when I arrived, had to wait an hour as the only one that knew how to a reprint of the 90 day was rigging up the speakers. Not a problem, they were really friendly, gave me a handful of Fox's mints and some water and a nice comfy chair while I waited - made a few jokes about the Farang as I told them I didn't speak Thai, but they were a decent bunch.

TM30 - Well, this is done upstairs on the third floor keep taking the escalators until you get to the top, then head to the right, you will see the other immigration office. You have to ask the little quiet girl at the door on the right for a queue number.

Once you get that number then just hang around, they will come a looking.

The paperwork is mainly irrelevant, all they want is the 1600 Baht in FINES, they really should change it to a TAX rather than a fine. it takes about 2 minutes to get some shitty piece of paper that you stuff back in the last page of your passport. Thye like to insist on giving you a receipt....that basically says that you are happy to pay your landlords FINE!

<deleted>, blatant scamming! There was probably not one single Thai landlord there today... I was queue no. 73, and virtually everyone was either quick off the mark or forking out the 1600 Baht!

Joke or what? Not if you need an extension of stay....you will not get it this year without this piece of rag in your passport.

  9. If you go to your local hardware guys, you can buy a Thai equivalent to a type of "Draino" you pour it down the shower / drain and just leave it, it eats hair, fat, unwanted dead bodies etc. Look for the one with a Crocodile on it - it is potent.

Make sure that your drain is not full of water when you pour it down as it will effervesce at a furious rate and can splash back and probably burn or blind you. Nasty but effective.

I am presuming that you are reporting every 90 days by your original post.

if that is the case then they will have your address in their system already.

as far as I am aware the only time you need to do a new TM 30 is if you have left the country and recently returned

Thanks, well, it isn't that straight forward (Never did a TM 30 EVER!)

I left Thailand for 2 weeks in September - I am on a Non O, marriage extension have been for years. Never been asked for TM30 at yearly extensions.

I need to go to immigration this week anyway as either them or Thai post has lost my return 90 day slip - by post.....not the first time.

So I am trying to get my house in order before going to the agent for the yearly extension due in March.

So at the moment my 90 day report is missing, 25 days already, not much hope that it is going to turn up. I just want to make sure that if I turn up at immigration for a reprint of the report I am not going to get hit with a request for the TM30. (It is a 90KM return trip to drive out there)

So I am preparing for the worst case - I have the TM30 filled in, I have a Power of Attourney to allow me to pay the 1600 baht (WHAT A JOKE! 2 witnesses required - Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse no doubt will do if they want some money!!!) on behalf of my wife.

From what I can gather, the agents dealing with the extension are asking for the TM30, I would have thought that the Yellow Registration book pretty much covered all of that crap anyway....however, This Is Thailand! They have probably cut down more trees to satisfy immigration than the British ever did in Thailand and Burma combined.

  11. You can get a re-entry permit and it will cover you up until the expiry date of your extension of stay, assuming that is what you are here with. I suppose it also depends on your visa extension, normally the extension is given for a year for marriage or retirement, however, it will be shortened should your passport become invalid during that time.

My yearly extension normally expired at the end of March, however when I did the last extension (at the end of Feb.) they gave me the yearly extension ending this time on the 1st of March, the last date my passport was valid.

Then I applied for a re entry in June, the re entry was valid again until the 1st of March.

if this single gateway nonsense becomes reality...it's like one poster's comment...."grab my coat". I would look seriously about relocating my domocile!

Xenophobia is shaping behaviours of the autocrats in TH.

You worry about the single gateway as a sign of Xenophobia? Jesus, just poke your head out of your bedsheets, it is rampant in this country. Every door you try to open here is riddled with hate and derision for a non Thai. The single Gateway and Lese Majeste and the new amendment to the constitution that advocates the DEATH PENALTY for corruption amongst politicians is just another way to limit freedom of speech and control of dissent, no one will be executed or jailed with their New Law, it will be used to silence any opposition. Just make sure you don't buy a Thai a Christmas or Birthday present or you might be beheaded for corruption.

I called TOT this morning due to the outage.  They told me that an undersea cable has been cut in the south of Thailand, resulting in the outage.  I can only get online using my AIS phone as a mobile Hotspot.   No idea when TOT service will resume.

If the undersea cable was cut or eaten by sharks it really does not explain why I cannot get in touch with my promise of an unusual sexual relationship with the Ladyboy I contacted in Chiang Mai on Thai Friendly does it? She/He/It does not require a connection via Singapore.

    Fortunately I slept over it.

Read somewhere that from "late night" no international sites could be reached from ToT fibre.

When I started up this morning (when?) on the smartphone (WiFi) all fine.

    Hacked?

    Not necessarily.

    A fault or human error?

As of 10PM last night it went dead - until this morning,  (Whilst you were sleeping, no international sites could be reached! As again tonight between about 7pm and 9pm, the internet was functioning, you could get a link to anywhere with a VPN except BANGKOK.

It was off again earlier between about 4-6pm.

No way is this down to the rain.

Too many weird things happening. Normally it is up or down, but last night it was if it was being restricted.

May very well be the beginning of the single gateway...

Indeed, I think you might be correct, no doubt it will be implemented in the usual stupid and incompetent manner! Never mind, we can all sing along with General FuXB@it about dancing over the bridge!

  18. I am beginning to wonder if they are implementing the "Single Gateway"!

We were unable to connect properly, we had some download bandwidth, but upload was crippled. Strange thing was my VPN was able to access sites worldwide and connect as a download but not upload. Then after a few reconnects, the VPN came back with an error that the software and credentials had been corrupted?

Who knows the power of stupid people.

  19. The longer I stay here the madder I get. It usually starts with their drunken stupidity, to which I always end up following it up.

This can't be normal....or do other people get annoyed and respond this way?

Here is a snapshot that gives you a picture of how things escalate -

Everything is fine, everyone is happy, then the wife finds her front tyre of her motorbike is flat - She asks me to inflate it AGAIN as usual, so, no hardship, I drag out the compressor and the 12V supply and take out the valve, clean it and inflate the tyre.

Then two minutes later there is some screw on her sewing machine that she cannot thread correctly as she is a Thai and has no idea about the correct tool for the job, OK, no problem, so I go on and fix that too.

1 hour later, she has been drinking Lao Kao and has become an absolutely obnoxious <deleted>,

I am completely pissed off that she keeps cooking all of this crap food for the cats, (most of the cats hate it) but she keeps putting it out in massive quantities, which attracts all the stray cats and filthy flies in the neighbourhood. Disgusting! (It does not matter that I bought dishes for the dogs, dishes for our 3 cats with lids so they can be fed, then put on the lids so it doesn't become a free for all for every stray animal within the village.

To discourage the strays, I have an airgun, I give them a shot near to them which usually scares them and they bugger off.

So after the wife has had the Lao Kao tonight and hears the gunshot, she flips out and starts her usual ranting like a drunken <deleted>.

Now this pisses me off so after she goes to bed, I remove the screw from the sewing machine and let her bike tyres down....oh I know, it is spightfull, but rather than argue with a drunken idiot, which gets you nowhere, I get revenge and revenge feels good!
