    • Aggressive merchants. Three reasons I have not been to a Thai beach in years. As I recall toplessness was "tolerated", the only women on Chaweng beach in Samui with their bras on being Japanese and American. Has that attitude changed ? A pity.

Just came back from Chaweng beach. Saw one topless in 17 days.

There are three ways to address problems such as this one: education, education and education. My wife started giving computer education to primary 4 and 5 kids at the local school; in a class of ten, three can neither read nor right. No hopers like these will end up motorbike taxis in Pattaya, where they'll use their position of strength vis-a-vis the naive tourists to extort them while greatly enjoying doing it.

    'read nor RIGHT' The irony.

Never to try and teach a Thai woman anything. She already knows everything and what she doesn't know she doesn't want to know.

Have to agree, my wife is an electrician ( my profession ), she knows everything about plumbing, she is always willing to point out my driving mistakes, she can't drive, and she is an expert on using the automatic washing machine, 95 degree full cycle for everything.

No one does pomp and ceremony better than we Brits, but the enthusiasm that goes with it will be absent for this idiot. I doubt they'll give him the privilege of addressing both houses for fear of the reception he might receive.

I'll bet you predicted he wouldn't get elected.

Is that her husband standing next to her? What is she pointing at?

Another old English guy with worn out '30 something' street scrubber.

She doesnt care about their phoney relationship. If he leaves so does his wallet and ATM  card,

    Thats why she's pissed.

    These old farangs never learn.

They keep their embassies busy thats for sure.

Wow! You can tell all this from one picture. Did you used to live at 221B Baker Street?

This wild dog thing is totally out of control

    in Thailand.

Time for 85% of them to die.

And stop feeding them for Christ sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :bah:

Hear, hear, kill them. I have a 14 month baby and the amount of times I've had dogs growling at her is frightening. Chines guy lives by me opens his gate at night and lets his two vicious dogs run around the estate for a couple of hours.

If you car is out of warranty, regardless if it is  Ford, Honda or whatever, there's no need to spend exctra getting the dealership service shop to fix things. Think about it, they are primarily a dealership, ie. they sell cars. they are obligated to support manufacturers recommended servicing and warranty repairs. But when it comes to blocked fuel filters and spongy brake pedals, they are pretty hopeless. Sounds like you probably need new brake fluid as it is hygroscopic, absorbs humidity and has a limited shelf-life even in an enclosed system.

Why don't you take it back to the Mr Fixit you found in Rayong?

I could do but if it's a major fault might need to be in a few days so thought I'd ask for local help first.

ok,  all sounds a bit strange to me, 11000 or 300 baht

sounds like ford wanted to change 1 or more components.

What did the 300 baht guy exactly do ?

I do understand your annoyance with ford, i'm the same with Honda.

after 4 bikes and one car from Honda in Thailand.

they wont get to sell me anymore vehicles in this life time.

car servicing from Honda is the pits.

I know next to nothing about cars so don't really know what he did. He replaced something on the fuel line I think.

When I took the car to Ford a girl in her early 20's looked at at. I tried to explain what problem I was having but she spoke no English. Another mechanic in his early 20's started the car and I got my wife to explain what problem I was having. He then said leave for one day cost 11000 baht . Went to pick up car next day and supervisor said no one said one day they said seven. My wife said no it was one. He then blamed the girl for telling me the wrong times.???

I said I need the car and took it to the mechanic in Rayong. He started it, revved it and went to get a part. 15 minutes later he said finished. 300 baht please. No problem since.

If the noise has just started then that would be the wear indicators once it goes from a squeal to a grind then that would be pad on rotor which would then require a surface grind done assuming the rotor still measures within spec.

Pedal is spongy, not the disc or pad problem.

My experience with Ford Pattaya has been all good and that includes warranty repairs and not just services. They must have a hard time with cheap farangs who come in knowing what's wrong... but are hopelessly wrong and just can't afford needed parts.

Brakes for example. Squealing, brakes usually mean that not only are the brake pads well past their use-by date, they have also scoured the brake disks which will either need re-honing (paeng) or replacement (paeng mahk).

Plenty local 'mechanics' around the area that can 'adjust' the brakes so they don't squeal when doing  a low-speed 'test' after 'adjustments' at their 'workshop'. Some may even have...

    but most will use...

You pays your money and you takes your choices.

All well and good but even this cheap charlie would not put WD40 on a foot pedal, which is spongy.

Op what was the 300 baht fix that they wanted 11,000 for ?

    Car was jerking when accelerating.

Ford said 11000 and car would be in for 1 day. Went back next day to pick up and they said now 7 days needed and could cost more. I took the car from them to a local garage in Rayong. He charged me 300 baht for a 15 minute repair. Cured problem.

I'm no longer in Rayong so looking for Patts mechanic.
