  1. Never claimed to be gifted. Then perhaps you shouldn't accuse without any solid logical footing. Copy that? I assume you do. Good. Know your place. Wrong Asian to be confrontational with. I don't simply kowtow and say yes yes my white lord.
  2. Always use 2FA (2 factor authentication). I use a Yubikey for my email, crypto, password manager and financial accounts.
  3. Disturbing and unnerving that the sender's email address matches the real one. How the fraudster managed to spoof it is mind-boggling.
  4. With or without insurance I hope he survives to (re)tell the tale. Few do.
  5. regardless, i'm just happy to see Israel developing such sophisticated weaponry. better Israel doing this than China (maybe not for long as they are master copycats)
  6. This is amazing defense technology. The Israelis are truly gifted when it comes to security tech. Unlike missiles, a laser pulse has zero drag and mechanical friction to contend with and to slow it down making distance of target a negligible concern. A swift and unforgiving killing tool.
  7. Most effective and lethal. With laser pulse travelling 300 times faster than the speed of light, I'm surprised none of the 5 Eyes alliance considered developing such weaponry and installing them on their military aircraft.
  8. Did you just try to waste my time by making me do that nonsense??? Adding you to my IGNORE list!
  9. Yes, that worked! Just did the 20 Euro transfer. Thank you!
  10. Tried to register for an account as I have an IBAN account in Germany. It's asking me to provide a German phone number which I no longer have. This same requirement applies to PayPal which I was hoping to link to my German bank account and credit cards. Is there a way to bypass this requirement?
  11. Not impossible but from what I've read a cumbersome and herculean journey. I have Cambodian citizenship and I have to say it was more a matter of expense and whom-you-know rather than compliance with naturalization laws. Length of residency and language fluency do count compulsorily but are secondary factors.
  12. I brought with me 320k baht in 3 bundles of 1k in 2020, then changed to USD at Ly Hour Exchange at their Orussey Market branch. No issues with exit at BKK but I declared in Phnom Penh because it converted to just about 10k USD for which a declaration is required in Cambodia.
  13. Right, another uncompensated confiscation. Mining that much gold that long ago must have been torturous work. Admirable how impurities were separated without acids.
  14. Arrested at the boarding gate... a thousand eyes all looking at him. Oh the embarrassment.
  15. I remember going to the yellow bank's exchange outlet at MBK. The lone fat lady with a perpetual scowl on her face wasn't happy with me interrupting whatever she was engrossed in (looked like Line when she put the phone next to her keyboard). I told her I wanted a cash advance (thinking it might be cheaper than two ATM withdrawals of 20k + 10k) and if she could please tell me the fee for 30k baht. "PASSPORT!!!" she shouted back after I handed her my card. Ignoring my question about the fee, she checked my name on my card and on the passport. "NO HEB MIDDLE NAME ON CARD!! CANNOT!!!" and she returned my card and passport with the same ineffaceable death stare and quickly resumed her Line chat. Next to the counter (literally next to it) was the bank's ATM so I proceeded to withdraw the 30k baht. She saw me take the cash and gave me another tee-hee derisive look.
  16. I believe they will only grant the 5 or 10 year if the ECO is absolutely satisfied that the applicant is financially and professionally secure in the long term (evidence of affluence and well established ties to Thailand that is unlikely to change over the years). So many elements are taken into consideration such as a positive travel history, sufficiency of disposable funds, historically solid savings and immovable assets, employer's references providing persuasive and compelling assurances of employment after the UK trip. The more, the better the chances of a positive outcome.
  17. I highly recommend switching to a Chromebook. Some of them are affordable but all share one thing in common: they work like a charm. Plus they're virus-proof, malware-proof and very easy to use. When a chromebook is restarted or rebooted, a systems check is automatically performed which is how topnotch performance is maintained.
  18. Below is an example of an SMS automatically forwarded to my email.
  19. Get a Google Voice number. After setting it up, enable "forward messages to email" and voila! all your SMS's are emailed to you. This is a major major plus because you don't have to constantly worry about the local network's reliability. You get the SMS's even if you are on WiFi only. Soooooo convenient.
  20. I used to have two German bank accounts (Fidor Bank and DKB). I sent a request to Fidor for my address to be changed to Bangkok and within days I got an email informing me that they were closing my account. Asked them why and the response was they were not obliged to provide a reason. I suspect they don't like the change of domicile to an international one as it might complicate and increase the cost of compliance work and delivery of cards and other services.
  21. I've also wondered about this concept of long-term tourism. Staying 10 months a year is more likely what a resident than a tourist does. It's none of my business, I realize that, but isn't this also frowned upon by immigration authorities in other jurisdictions? I know for a fact that the EU have limits (maximum of three months within a six-month period) and even if this rule is respected, there is a high chance of being refused admission if a regular pattern of exhausting the max 90 days rule is detected. Similarly, maximum stays apply for stays in the UK, US, Australia, Canada etc. All of that aside, if one is quite wealthy, then long-term tourism is certainly justified which is why there is the Thailand Elite visa for such individuals. It dispenses with all the worrying and running around for extensions and visa renewals.
  22. I let my 1Password app do all the generating and securing of passwords. Use a unique and complex master password to secure the app itself, fortify further by adding 2FA hardware keys (Yubikey) and throw in some good old common sense when choosing which links to click on and which to ignore and you have unbeatable security. If you use Gmail, enroll in Google's Advanced Protection Program to thwart hacking and malicious penetration attempts.
